The UK with Northern Ireland isn't completely a sovereign nation. It is a shared region and is subject to the GFA. Ben Habib doesn't give a damn about NI and that's what he is really saying. Northern Ireland's position regarding cross-border cooperation on an all-island basis, bodies set up by the Good Friday Agreement. Agriculture Health Environment Education Waterways Tourism Biodiversity Etc etc. These all operate on an ALL-ISLAND basis. So Northern Ireland hasn't been a completely sovereign part of the UK since the Good Friday Agreement. Northern Ireland doesn't have complete sovereignty though as a part of the UK since the Good Friday Agreement as part of the decisions etc that happen within its jurisdiction are on an all-island basis, not related to Britain. It is still constitutionally a part of the UK but it's not as much a part as say England or Wales It can't be just ignored as it has all these bodies set up regarding the GFA on an all-island basis that makes decisions for the entire island in a large number of areas. So, that sovereignty can't go back completely to the UK without destroying the GFA And if the British Government does that, the island reunites sooner than with the Protocol. All paths lead to unification now and it's just a question of making sure it's a peaceful transition. Britain has to go. It's the only solution that ensures the long-term stability and prosperity and peace of the island of Ireland. Get Britain's interference out of all of Ireland forever, gets rid of the border and partition. And it's already happening economically. It's unstoppable. and a positive future for the whole island of Ireland. Ben Habib is an idiot and will just wreck the UK. We don't really have Brexit says he as the UK crumbles.

Mathew Stadlen, the Cambridge educated ex-BBC Remainer, sums up Remainers to a tee. They look down their nose at Brexiteers. He has made it quite clear he does not want EU Laws or Regulations to go. He stated that he did not want the UK Government to decide but Parliament. In other words he’s trying to stop Brexit. For him to then talk about democracy being about these EU laws being debated in Parliament, completely ignores the referendum vote. How many votes does he want? So hypocritical it beggars belief. We had a referendum that was SUPPOSED to be democracy at work. Sadly Matthew has let the cat out of the bag. These Remainers have prevented the laws from going; politicians, the House of Lords & the Civil Service all complicit. We no longer have a democracy because the real power behind everything are not interested in what the people who elect them want or vote for. It’s all about self-interest of the elite and getting their own way, as Matthew has demonstrated very clearly.

It is still constitutionally a part of the UK but it's not as much a part as say England or Wales
It can't be just ignored as it has all these bodies set up regarding the GFA on an all-island basis that makes decisions for the entire island in a large number of areas.
So, that sovereignty can't go back completely to the UK without destroying the GFA
And if the British Government does that, the island reunites sooner than with the Protocol.

Habib is right. This guy is asking for scrutiny before repealing laws that were imposed avoiding any scrutiny.
And if he thinks a hard border is so unacceptable between two separate nations how can he think it's less unacceptable within the United Kingdom? Because he's in favour of a United Ireland that's why and he, as well as many other remainers, has taken this position with total disregard to the NI unionists. A border on the Irish sea is equally problematic for peace in NI.
And if he's suggesting that these artificial problems the EU has been inflating on purpose were sufficient to invalidate the desire of the British people to regain the sovereignty the EU project has surreptitiously taken away without their consent, he's the one living in la-la land.
A land border is neither wanted by the vast majority in Northern Ireland nor is it practical. How do you patrol a 500km border with over 300 crossings? A sea border is far more manageable, practical and cost effective.
