      Do you guys think these make more of a difference for street or tranny/pools? I want to get some to try out but don't know which board to put them on. I skate a different width for each setup.
      P.S. Super cool design! Glad there is still innovation in skating.

      Hallo aus Amerika! Ich glaube dass du klingst Deutsch, wenn du Englisch schreibst. Habe ich recht?
      Ich weiß dass ich die gegenteilige Fehler mache, wenn ich versuche Deutsch zu sprechen.
      Zb: "ich reite Avenue seit fünf Jahre" soll "i have ridden Avenue trucks for 5 years now" sein.
      Sorry if I sound rude. I am constantly noticing that I use English grammar in German, and the wrong prepositions often. Saw the opportunity to maybe make a language exchange connection. Es tut mir leid, wenn ich wie mein klinge.

    As someone who's ridden these since about 2016, I'm never going back. I cannot confidently say they truly improve my skating in any way because I honestly don't track that; but I can say that to me, the feel is so much better. Carving and pumping for speed on flat is so easy and fun, and it feels so fast and smooth in transition. Honestly the area I found they shined the most was on brick. The college I went to had a lot of brick patios/sidewalks and on a normal board I couldn't even ride it. With these it was like riding on rough pavement with normal trucks.
    Glad you liked them! I definitely recommend bringing them to a bowl to pump around!

  • @bumrodgers

    I'd really like to see more slides/grinds that touch the baseplate. How do nose/tail slide? Do they catch? Do they turn into razorblades when the edges file down?
    Does the movement affect smiths, etc?

    • @avenuetrucks1186
      @avenuetrucks1186 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The nose of our baseplates are angled to allow for smooth slides and grinds, there are no hard edges when you look closely enough. Helps keep things smooth so you should have no issues!

      they catch very much so. spring steel is an extreamly hard metal (high carbon steel) which means if and when you do catch they WILL ruin every curb, ledge, rail and coping they come into contact with.. so unless you want to be hated by the skaters worldwide for ruining the "spot" id suggest you stick to the originals indy...

    I was sold the moment you started carving. As an old guy who likes to ride longboards and flow around parks, the problem i run into is that reverse king pin and dual pivot trucks tend to act really squirrelly going in reverse.
    These seem to perform just like standard trucks, and only give you the extra tight radius when you want them to.
    Thanks for the solid review!

    seeing how quickly you adapted to these trucks really speaks volume on your skill level.
    I got those trucks when they kickstarted and rode them for over 4 years on both generations, but ended up back on regular truck as I broke two pairs of hangars (same spot around the bushing loop) and another pair to broken king pins. Got too costly to import them and the durability wasn't as long as normal trucks.
    I do miss the smoother ride for cruising, just couldn't hold up over time

    • @JasonParkSucks
      @JasonParkSucks  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      100% agree that I should’ve covered them in this video! I was just distracted by how they felt and focused on the other points - other comments mention they’re heavier, but I legit didn’t notice and I’ll admit I wasn’t even paying attention to that aspect. As far as grinds, I only did a few off camera but they felt really good - however I didn’t do any slides at all, and I’m not sure if the shape of the baseplate would be an issue for slides. Definitely would love to do a part 2 to this video and cover weight/grinds/slides!

    I skated the first Avenue trucks for at least two years. I used them for 100% street skating, and I really enjoyed them. The downside with the gen 1 version of the trucks was that they were a bit heavy. That was the main reason that I gave up skating them, but the gen 2 is supposed to be more light weight. I am pretty light weight myself, so I actually didn't feel the suspension effect that much. If the skater is a bit more heavy weight, the suspension effect will feel a lot more. Great review Jason! 💯

      @phakoo23 it causes the kindpin housing to crack from the shock, and sometimes the bushing housing too. Granted, the gen 2's have only broken around the bushing housing, but the gen 1 can break both ways. This is all anecdotal btw, so your experience will vary if you get them. Ive gone through 4 sets in about 5 years of heavy skating

    I am older (49) and bigger (180lbs) than most truck users, so just practicing regular ollies for 20 mins is “high impact” on the old knees. Before switching to Avenue in the summer I wasn’t able to practice every day sustainably/consistently. Suspension trucks have made a huge difference! (Young ‘uns may not appreciate how high impact the sport really is - even the little drops.)

    Is there a maximum recommended weight limit to skating these trucks, I weigh around 100kg, which is around 220lb or over 15 stone. I skate with soft wheels and a soft riser pad to lessen the impact on my aging joints. This invention seems like it will give me a few more years skateboarding, or reduce injuries (i.e., I can skate harder street wheels again or something).

    Been riding these since college back in 2018. Lots of brick and rough sidewalks that just get eaten up by these trucks. Then I moved to NYC where I do A LOT of commuting on my board through the crustiest city roads and sidewalks. Did not want to succumb to getting a longboard, wanted to stick to what I know and be able to do tricks. Pairing these with some Bones Raws and Ricta Clouds essentially turned my ride into the Rolls Royce of boards. BUT I could still do fliptricks and other freestyle whenever I wanted. A perfect balance - I actually ran UberEats and Doordash on this board for 3 months and mannnn did it help, especially with speed on rough ground (I was beating estimated bike delivery times by 5-10 minutes on average, for perspective). Plus skitching taxis down Broadway with more confidence.
    The long short for me is this: If you live anywhere with rough surfaces/commutes or want to ease the progressive impact that riding has on your body, GO WITH THESE!!! You will have a vastly improved ride without sacrificing your ability to hit the park or street spots. My absolute favorite gear switch in my 21 years of riding. Pair it with some fast bearings and a softer duro wheel, and you'll be on the moon.

    This looks cool, I wonder what the true longevity of it is. Considering it's constantly being compressed, I'm sure that like most metals, eventually, it would lose some of that compression over time. Do you think that they'd outlast a standard truck? At least with those the main repair would be bushings instead of an entirely new set of trucks.

      I've ridden them for 6-7years, and have found out how they eventually wear out a few different ways- the baseplate suspension piece has worn out on me twice (meaning that it cracked after 50,000 pops, then the crack grew until it broke... but keep in mind that was after skating them for over a year every day, and skating in water, snow, heat, etc... I have nothing negative to say about them. Search "Cotton Candy" by lunchbreak skateboards to see my video part (evan) filmed mostly on these trucks. Every time they break, I have felt that they served me well for a long time... kind of like a faithful horse or dog. Lots of great memories, and nothing lasts forever. Plus it's fun to get fresh stuff. Everytime I set up a new set of these i'm so elated.

Also the shield knuts used to snap in half easily or loosen and getting lost leaving you with nothing but same old regular trucks. I think I rolled over them a few times too falling on the ground. Ended up really disliking them, but 'ey, cool colours they had. If they're still produced I hope there's happened some big improvement. 🤷

      So first off a few comments mentioned I should’ve tested the grind/slide and I definitely should have! For some reason I fully spaced on that, I think because it wasn’t one of their main selling points on the website. I genuinely loved riding these - that being said, I’m not sure if I’m going to switch to them now and that might be purely just because I’ve ridden the same type of truck for my entire life and have only ridden these for a day - so for example jumping down something big I wouldn’t feel confident enough since I have no idea how they’d perform for something like that. That being said I think these are perfect for a lot of people depending on their style of skating and what they’re into, and I will at least continue to experiment with these!

    I ride my trucks a little on the tight side, would you say these feel loose/med/tight relative to a traditional design? I do think it's funny how skateboarding and guitar players definitely seem to reject technology advancement in the equipment. Maybe it reminds them it's a business and it breaks the counterculture illusion? I would love to set up a maximum gear-kook board with these trucks, a carbon fiber or maybe a Flight deck, and then...maybe Spitfire sapphire wheels? See how that goes over.

      Yes I completely agree! They felt definitely looser compared to normal trucks, but also I didn’t tighten them at all because it didn’t feel too loose to me and the looseness made the carving more fun. For more street skating I would probably tighten them up for sure!

      These trucks with risers and a large size dragon wheel would be a world of difference at a rough spot like that. • @veritechz
      @veritechz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shred-sensei That's good feedback for sure. I went from 54mm formula 4s down to the 52mm Nano Cubics recently, and while the ride is decidedly smoother in a way that's hard to articulate, the diameter change was pretty detrimental to transporting myself on actual roads in the neighborhood on my popsicle (pebbles and rough spots are a lot more significant now). I like that Powell is increasing the diameter on the nano cubics; I recently swapped my 64mm Powell Bombers down to 58mm Formula 4s on my Hosoi Hammerhead to take a bit of weight out of it, but I think I prefer the ride on that dragon formula, and may move to a set of those at some point.
