    Definitely one of the best podcasts on the internet. Rex was one of the few broadcasters on CBC who I could ever listen to. Today I realize, he had to be a better stick handler than Gretzky, to have survived there. Cheers, Merry Christmas!

    Rex one of the few bringing to light, the issues regarding modern journalism, and the media in general. I watch the CBC every morning, and will listen to a "journalist", talking to an "expert", on some current issue, and when it's all said and done, I often say to myself, "I haven't a clue what they were even talking about". I'm not even sure THEY knew what they were talking about, but instead just filling airtime with rhetoric. Is it just me, or have others noticed?

    How do we fix the situation where the media thinks it knows best for everyone, and their point of view is the only one that counts?

    • @EgilWar
      @EgilWar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Since the beginning of time it has been thus. Big difference is that there is less variety of traditional media. Just consider the giant in Canada, the CBC, which is funded by the government and is also in competition with private operators. In addition it is protected from competition by the CRTC.

      @Yvonne Rediger We should ‘vote’ with our feet by turning our backs and walking away. This one small act if done by many will effectively cut off their life blood which, is our attention. We demonstrate our own individual weakness when we do not consistently turn away.

      DEFUND CBC. They are now openly censoring movies shown to Canadian tax payers. They cut out, yes, edited out the cameo role of Donald Trump in the movie Home Alone 2 the other night. They are denying us the right to see a full movie without their permission. Like the parents of 5 year olds. It has to go.

    Who would have thought that two 70 year old men chatting over coffee would be the most fascinating thing to watch on the internet?
    I love this medium for you Rex! Long form, relaxed interviews where you dig out gold from your guests! This is perfect.
    As a long time listener- I’m glad I have found you again- now free from the clutches of the CBC. Internet TV is your key contribution in this social transformation. I say go be like Trump! Make your 3rd act of life the best one yet! Be defiant. Break the rules. Fear not your enemies. Get after it!
    These interviews are great. Jordan Peterson and now Conrad Black!

    More time should have been spent on the damaging politics of ”Climate Change” and how false claims and lack of understanding have destroyed the Canadian energy sector. Cocktail chit chat about Trump and Clinton is fine but this was a missed opportunity for two of Canada’s brightest and well-informed minds to address today‘s mismanagement of Canada in a more profound and helpful way.

    Where in the charter of Rights and freedoms of Canada does it say that citizens CANNOT own firearms and by extension control and confiscation is ILLEGAL?

    • @Saskmopar
      @Saskmopar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greg Mandzuk , the Charter has no standing, it is worthless. In fact, in so far as my research has led me to believe, Canada is not a Country.
      In 1893 Queen Victoria repealed the BNA Act, an Act that gave Parliament the authority to create itself. Therefore Parliament has no authority, as I understand it the Governor General is the only "legitimate authority" in creating the Laws of the land. And as one searches through the Statutes that Parliament writes, more often than not it is a Clerk and not the Governor General signing said Statutes into Law, therefore the Statutes passed have no effect or authority.
      As for the 1982 Charter(Kitchen Accord), the Queens Proclamation has a "subject" written into it(something like section 59[?] it's a language bill) and until that subject is removed the Charter would be of more use for wiping your posterior.
      You have no Rights, only privileges dolled out by the good graces of the Corporation that is Canada in order to keep you in a perpetual state of adolescence. A state of mind that has individuals begging for the State to control every facet of life because of said adolescence.

    • @Saskmopar
      @Saskmopar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greg Mandzuk , that got a bit rambly.
      Short answer; they, the Federal Government and its Provincial Subsidiaries, can and do whatever the hell they want as we the people have agreed to play by the rules that they make up(as they go)- by way of Contract(Social Insurance Number, Drivers License etc.).

    • @gregmandzuk2281
      @gregmandzuk2281 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      All good mate most people don't know what kind of country they live in. I would hate to see what the lemmings would do if they were actually threatened by a foreign country. It would be easy pickings

    • @Saskmopar
      @Saskmopar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greg Mandzuk , I'm pretty sure that is exactly what is happening/happened. Canada's resources(humans are resources as well) are owned by the Corporation of Canada, which is -so far as the research suggests- owned by whomever has the title to Ruperts Land, I'm pretty sure it resides in the hands of the British Royal Family, possibly the Privy Council..
      In other words Canada is controlled by a Foreign Entity/Country.

    • @Saskmopar

    As usual, I was going to watch about 15-20 minutes, do some stuff (Christmas related), and finish it off in 1 or 2 parts later on. Long story short, I was too engrossed in it, and watched it from beginning to the end in one shot. Now I have to make haste to do the stuff I was supposed to do. But … it was so worth it !! Another thought. I didn't know it was going to happen, but I was hoping that Jordan Peterson's name would come up somewhere. I was not disappointed … there was quite an extensive discussion of Jordan's anti-political correctness stance.

    Much more enjoyable at 1.25 Speed. The settings (round gear thing with a red HD) button lets you change the speed. May I suggest you not mention this interview at your Christmas dinner. You are likely to be sent home with cold stuffing. It takes great courage to take the other side to task. Perhaps age reduces some of the risk. It was quite common for forward thinkers to only introduce risky ideas in their old age. Old flesh didn't burn as nicely as fresh pink buttock. Thanks to both of you for speaking up.

    Being a dual citizen ...it is odd how poorly the U.S. elections are covered by Canadian media. What is often missed is that Americans are frontier minded in their political culture, and voting, and most of the country is empty-- so a frontier is still available. It is their dream to be rich....Canadians look at their frontier and wring their hands nervously.

    Great stuff. But, in terms of the setting. Sound is very raw, needs warmth. The studio is nasty, except for the chairs. The blinds are down, a good thing given the hulking and ugly building behind, but at different lengths. What about a more intimate setting, with some wood and books?

    I don't think Mr Peterson would like lots of cameras to be honest. But I don't get Canada's need to not strive for achievement. Winning is something which should be celebrated. I honestly don't get Canadian's reluctance towards celebrating achievement. Its like they're so determined to not be the US that somehow they're ok with leaving "achievement" TO the US.

      Twenty-thousand years ago most of Canada was covered in ice 3 miles thick. It was not the dinosaurs farting or cave men driving cars that cause it to melt. This global warming crap is an excuse to tax the public even further. The evidence is overwhelming. All one has to do to see that evidence is to google weather in England the 1700's and anyone will see the record of extreme heat and extreme cold, flooding etc etc etc. Geologists/paleontologists will tell you that there is a record of heating and cooling. There were tremendous floods in the UK in the late 1920's and they were not due to the Model T Ford or Wilbur Wright's aircraft. It's all BS nad they know it. IS the earth warming...maybe...but humans have nothing to do with it this time just as they had nothing to do with it the last time. So when I hear a scientist say, "The Earth is warming" I don't doubt that he/she is correct....But it's nothing to do with the minuscule effect humans could possibly have on it. The only thing happening right now to endanger human life is more and more taxation.

    Kenney is losing support in Alberta, precisely because he is a staunch federalist. Without a pending separation referendum, Kenney will achieve almost nothing. Looking forward to a separatist Premier.

    • @thomasjefferson6
      @thomasjefferson6 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      to Jersey Poodle- You are correct; Kenney's support in Alberta is a mile wide and an inch deep. He won't be able to get much done for Alberta that needs to be done, because Alberta is still in Confederation. The real question is whether there are enough Albertans who see the sense of leaving Confederation to give Alberta a "separatist Premier." If there are enough Conservative Party people in Alberta, they will split the vote with an Alberta separatist party and the result will be another anti-Alberta NDP provincial government courtesy largely of the city of Edmonton. To get a separatist Premier for Alberta, voters will have to desert the provincial Conservative party on the same sort of scale that they did federally in the 1993 federal election, which swept the federal PC MPs out of office and replaced them all with Reform Party MPs.
