Ernest Borgnine was a lousy actor. He loses his son and his daughter gets kidnapped and he acts like he's just a little bummed out. Resting on his Hollywood laurels. I guess back in the 40s when he came on the scene acting wasn't such a requirement. Sammy Davis is a very good actor! And I keep waiting for his character to beat the living stuffing out of the EB character.
To judge Ernest borgnine via failed future Charlie's angels Beverly hills 90210 etc producer t.v pilot is an honest mistake but betrays cry for enlightenment .also ,his char here ( both ,really) are retooling two classic western archetypal tropes gritty sidekick into heavy against inversion of traditional lone white hat
Not the best western,I think the music is out of place for the story line,and i don't think Aaron spelling is the right kind of guy to be involved in westerns,it has a made for tv vanilla feel to it.anyway i couldn't finish it.
