Possibly the belt shredded pushing in the crank seal? Common issue for people that don’t like to do maintenance. Might be some residual belt/ seal material that wasn’t cleared out? Loving the videos bro!
thanks!!! I'll be pulling the balancer soon and inspecting it. these chew belts and you're right, most don't care to fix or prevent the issue. here's hoping nothing else creeps up the more I inspect it!
They look like the spikes from oil filter cap plasticz aftermarket ones snap upon testing the oil filter cap. Also ryco in australia gives you the wrong rubber ring for oil filter. N54 eh
those last two injectors are index 12, there was a moment in time where you could directly buy from siemen vdo which had the part number and bmw logo scrapped off. How you can tell it's index 11 and up atleast is by the metal doted marking above the index number on the body. there is a TSB on this somewhere that tells you.

Go ahead and put your marks on the harmonic balancer and pull the crankseal. You still won't tell but I calling it that.
My 1st thought was gasket material! Then when you found the blade I felt like that was confirmation of a shotty job, crunchy gaskets....voila!
I was happy to finally confirm that it had to be from the valve cover gasket!

I agree with 9083 it's remains of a shredded belt

damn, I never would have known! this is awesome info. thanks for letting me know!
Two options when you blow up turbos. replace engine. what I would do. Or full rebuild.
newer (refreshed) engine and refresh the existing one!
at least its not a N55!
I'd take a motor cheap that sucked in belt over blown turbos.
Cannot wait to see the valve seal job lol. Sorry
can't wait to do it! (absolutely not). 🙄
I have an 07 bmw 335i it needs valve stem seals replacement help
I'll try to make a video on how to change them, if won't be easy!
Those pieces are most likely crank seal.
it actually looks like it! I did see that while scoping it!
What does "6 bolt vs eight bolt engine mean?
either side of the crank accepts 6 or 8 bolts for the flywheel or crank pulley.
it was rumored the 8 bolts were stronger but I doubt that.
I have a great idea. LS swap with blower 😂
there's something about an inline 6 with a big turbo I can't live without. 😅
Shit with a honda if its smoking you know it has oil
😂😂😂 ewwww
