A couple audio engineer notes re: the subwoofer
Obviously if you're happy with it, there's no need to mess with it, but
If you're having issues where the subwoofers are creating a lot of noise, hum, buzz, etc, you might want to try turning down the gain at the subs and turning up the volume at the bass knob (or elsewhere up the signal chain, idk what kind of EQ controls or whatever you've got on there). Analog cables are noisy, and cranking the gain at the end of the signal chain (the amp built into the subwoofer cabinet) means you're turning up all the noise introduced along the length of the cabling, so for purposes of signal-to-noise ratio, it's best to boost the signal level as early on in the signal chain as possible.
You would get a more focused response (read: more low end) from the subs by turning down the cutoff frequency. The advantage of subwoofers is that they allow you to split up the frequency spectrum into ranges and send those ranges to speakers so that each speaker can just focus on its own range. 250 Hz is pretty high for a subwoofer cutoff frequency, and setting it that way means you're feeding stuff that isn't really low end into it, meaning the subwoofer has to worry about not only the low end but also some low midrange, thus splitting its focus and reducing the amount of low end you'll get out of it. It's definitely a balancing act, because setting the cutoff frequency too low means you're forcing the main speakers to handle some of the stuff that the subs should be handling. At the same time, if you're getting 120 dB SPL out of your system, you probably have nothing to worry about, but if you're looking to really put those speakers to the test, you might try playing with the cutoff frequency.

@@Luke-we9gj Thanks! The way I see it, audio engineering is all about solving problems, so if there is no problem, there is no need for action, so I fully intend this as a guide for troubleshooting if there are problems like "that hum/buzz/etc is really annoying" or "I'm not getting as much low end as I want".

In regards to that dash mat: I had a mid-2000s Toyota and that dashboard can EASILY crack in the heat and sun after a little while. That dash mat is super helpful, definitely recommend having at least something up there to cover it.

I bet if Wade put clear ceramic window tint on the windshield, it would help avoid cracking, since it blocks IR. If he got the windshield UV treated, that would be even better.

Also dunno if already been said, but maybe try playin' scarlet fire on the old speakers (if they're not dead already), to see if they can survive or for how long.

We may need an George Channel. He has a snake named Catalina who also shows up in this video and also crawls into seating. He sometimes reviews zipties, they're nice. His car also has a bass knob with a dirty sub. His system for reviewing the vibration resistance of nuts and bolts is viewed as revolutionary by other famous youtubers.

I would put rubber mounts on the Amp if you are mounting to the box because of the vibration. And I would recommend tuning the Amp because how it is set up now is going to kill the Amp and the subs quick. After that, enjoy the beautiful setup.

Great job guys. Adding awesome speakers to old Toyotas should be a thing. I had 2 15 inch 1000 watt subs, 2 10 inch 3000 watt mids in the back where the 6x9s used to be, 2 6.5 400 watt mids up front and 4 1200 watt super tweeters, 2 tweeters in back 2 in front. Running on 2, 4 channel 4500 watt amps. Had 3 car batteries and a 50 farad capacitor. All that shoved into a 98 camry. Best sound quality I've ever heard. Was like a movie theater. Then after 250k miles a connecting rod cap ripped itself loose and blew a fist sized hole in my engine block. So sad.

Back in college, my best friend had a nugget car, and he did the exact opposite of what you said at the end of the video, he only took care of the engine so that the car kept running, but the interior was filthy, he threw fast food leftovers everything in the back seat, he was too lazy to get out of the car and throw out the garbage. He has a girlfriend (the same one after 13 years) and his mother-in-law sat in the back seat and on the way she always complained about the dirt in the back seat and stomped on the trash. Always when we were hanging and suddenly he had to go and pick up his girlfriend and mother-in-law, he always says like "had to go pick up my girl and Winrar" he nicknamed mother-in-law that because she would be compressing the garbage on the way home.

13:33 did you set the crossover to 250Hz??? why???? i'd set it as low as possible with that massive sub, assuming it has decent response down around 50 Hz. 250 Hz is insanely high though, and the subs aren't going to be doing much of anything haha
