Her throwing the pot at him was the act of aggression that got her shot. Her yelling that is what got the cop to pull his gun. When he did she put the pot down and got in a defensive position. He didn’t shot her at this point. He shoots her when she picks up the pot and throws it at him.
She has something to say negative about the situation because a white cop shot a black woman. If this had been a white woman shot by a black cop. Her whole outlook would have been different. She wouldn't have had a excuse. Give him life that's what she would be saying. I hope she not a juror

I have worked as a security patrol officer( background in conducting criminal justice research) for the company that I currently work for approximately four years and have responded to similar calls along with local PD. The deputies had no reasoning for entering the home on something like a prowler call unless they were asked to come in. Secondly, they shouldn't have been asking for identification given that she wasn't a suspect or person of interest. As for the pot of water, in my professional opinion if they were so worried about potential harm, then one of them could have turned it off given that there were two of them to mitigate any issues. The deputy escalated this entire situation once he made the verbal threat and then proceeded to draw his gun in which there was no immediate threat of danger or serious bodily injury. To add insult to injury, he failed to render aid and attempted to prevent his partner from doing so. Thats completely unacceptable and he also called her a crazy B. He's been with 6 different agencies in four years along with two DUI convictions. We can argue semantics all day but he was completely wrong in all aspects of this incident.

This female must be studying to become a criminal lawyer for the cops. If you watch the entire video, you will hear Sonya asked the cop that pulled the trigger(while on the porch), are you going to hurt me. And when she was sitting on her couch looking for her ID, she kept looking up at this very same cop that shot her. And then this cop created the situation that led to Sonya going to the stove. This was his opportunity to carry out his evil plan and that was to shoot her. I look at this as premeditated. What do you think?
She is studying to become a criminal defense attorney. My father was a criminal defense attorney and so are 3 of my brothers. I grew up with a vested interest in criminal law. I can tell you that she she won't make a good attorney. She deluded the facts presented in the body cam video. Added her own dialogue and narrative, contradicted herself. She should know any defense attorney would advise that cop to plead guilty and not waste the courts time. Looking at how he was fired and not suspended by his department, his attorney has no comment, no one known to him has spoken in defense of his character, this dirty cop is cooked. He will be found guilty. I love how this chick also ignores that Sonya was cooperative the whole time, the police had not right to be in her home and were only there because she allowed them to be there, how they told her moments before shooting her she wasn't in any trouble, which is true, she wasn't under suspicion of a crime, she was directed to the pot by the police, they escalated the interaction and Sonya only defended herself in the last moments before being shot.

@swimmingmantis22 How in the heck is race too small to address it? When race always plays a major if not the only part!! That's crazy for you to even say! This was a bad shooting plain and simple. That officer was obviously not qualified to deal with the public in a professional way. He got overly emotional, said what he was going to do, and then lied about it right after. Also, anytime an officer forgets to turn on their body cam- should be an immediate dismissal.
@sotosoto2305 I don't think the Cop got over emotional.....he just decided he was going to unalive Sonya Massey just for the sake of it & thought he was going to get away with it.
Imagine calling the police because you've seen a suspicious person loitering outside your home and then when they turn up and ask to go into your home you refuse to let them in because they do not have a warrant.
She describes it as if she watched something completely different. There is no justification for this. The officer also made no effort and said not to make an effort in saving her life after he shot her. Sub human behavior and life without parole in protective custody is too good for him
@erock9594 can't be more because 1 officer had his body cam on the whole time. They took his word and he lied because he knows he was wrong. How is she coming at them when she was going to the sink, his ass walked closer to make it seem like he was in danger.
They NEVER should have been inside of her home, i believe they took advantage of her hospitality as well as her mental health diagnosis to "justify" the murder.
That pffier murdered her. I have been in law enforcement for 20 years. The fact that he went into this type of call when the law states you have tp have your body camera on is ilegal..how do you end up killing a woman ....so hot water can end your life ..i guess it only matters when its a black person...
Always go back to the history: the cop Grayson 👮♂️ has worked for 6 different departments in 4 years and has multiple DUI convictions, also 😳 he was discharged from the Army for alcohol 🍸 abuse, misconduct. Too many red flags 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
Why are we still dealing with issues with body cameras being turned on and/or off, or not working? Never heard of any issues with firearms ever not working?
Firearms are mechanical and if properly maintained rarely break. Pretty old tech. Digital cameras are somewhat new and still being ruggedized. Other than that this does seem like a bad shoot by someone who had been in 6 different agencies in 4 years. Seems like he never should’ve been a cop.
@@wheelgun5102the point being made is that body cams could work more often if they wanted them to. All airports could have full body scanners instead of removing clothes and electronics if they wanted them to. Has nothing to do with ruggedization. Oops my camera's not working is a convenience for situations like this that happen all the time.
When she opened the door first thing she said: pls don't hurt me. Pls don't hurt me!! She didn't wak towards them. She walk to the sink to throw the water in the sink. She was no threat. This Woman talks BS
Certainly, Anton. If I were concerned about the potential danger of boiling water, I would retreat rather than approach. The officer's actions in moving towards the individual while aiming a firearm, followed by a false claim that the individual was advancing with boiling water, are clearly unjustifiable and constitute an excessive use of force.
non-debatable, hot water is not justifiable to shoot someone in the face but the cops history, his demeanor, the unreasonable force and things he said will lead to his conviction
He gonna get convicted just because of the fact he told her to go get it and poor it out. If you were so afraid of boiling water why wouldn’t you poor it out yourself. That and his background means he is cooked. Now, he will get only a few years.
@@Ditty0014Neither one of them told her to pour it out. The other cop told her about a possible fire on the stove. She should have just turned it off. Once she picked up the pot the other cop got away from her because of it and he even told her that. The shooter cops communication was bad, however I don’t think that’s criminal. The point is she put the pot down when he pointed his gun at her. He only shot her when she presented a threat by reaching up and throwing it at him. People who are trying to down play boiling hot water need to go visit a burn center. He can argue the threat of serious bodily injury from boiling hot water required deadly force, which it did.
There are so many things misunderstood here. Ok let me explain... First, she took the pot off the stove and set it to her left on the counter, she was NOT coming towards anyone, and she did not have the pot in her hands. When she saw the cop backing away she asked why, he said he didn't want to get boiling water to the face. She responded with "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus". This triggered the shooter as he misunderstood her meaning. He took it as a threat to throw the water at him not understanding that it was a light hearted response from her. No I don't think she saw a Demon, I think it was her way of saying "like I'm really going to do that, your mind is really interpreting this as that? I rebuke you in the name of Jesus". My grandmother and aunties would say this all the time when we were doing something less than couture. It's very common to here this from the older generation, and most of the time it's not because they actually think we're possessed, but rather to express a disapproval for an action. It can be serious, but most of the time it's not. But back to the cop, The shooter cop who doesn't understand the lingo, responds viciously in his ignorance and lack of understanding, threatening to shoot her in the face. Then proceeds to escalate the scenario and goes straight for deadly force. If you're not black, or at least familiar with black religious culture and outlook, you could misread this. It is still your responsibility as an officer to gather more information, pick up on cues and context clues before you just automatically go to KILL KILL KILL. At the very least he could have asked her to step away from the pot, there by extending the interaction and giving him more info to analyze if a threat was real. So in conclusion, you had two main factors that caused this tragedy, one being an officer misunderstanding a simple phrase because he's culturally ignorant, and two, his decision to go straight to KILL without trying anything less lethal first, let alone deescalation. The first thing could have been resolved with a little more conversation. The second unfortunately is just proof that this individual lacked the temperament to be a public servant with the power of death at his disposal. They have the footage from the shooters cam, even though it was off, he turned it on after he shot her, those cameras when activated actually record like five to ten seconds before they're switched on. Sounds weird but it's true. So there is even more evidence against this fool than what was originally released.
@@cfagin1 No one said that. Maybe in your world, screaming that you're going to shoot someone in the fucking face makes sense for law enforcement. Even without knowing anything about lingo or religion, there's still protocol. It's obvious he didn't follow it and was the aggressor in a situation that he could have easily deescalated. He skipped deescalation as an option and went straight for the kill. I guess you don't understand that.
@treauxvidieaux5668 Well I do watch a lot of body cam videos and there seems to be this trend where you guys think you can say ANYTHING to cops or call them anything, racial shit, everything. But they aren't supposed to get upset or hyped up and say anything or curse? I would say if you are threatening them or fighting with them as long as they are calling you the magic cancel word then they should have free speech like anyone else.
When hot water being thrown from a distance while on your knees while the other is standing at a distance behind a counter becomes a deadly force situation then we as a society are in deep phucking trouble...
I watched the 2 body cam videos in the 36 minute video, about 10 times on my huge TV: It sounds like Sonya dumped the hot water into the sink, the sound of scalding water quickly dumping into a metal sink is very distinct. And she turns on the faucet, which was still running during the entire 6 minutes she gurgled as she died. I too turn on the faucet when dumping scalding water to dilute the hot water so my pipes aren’t harmed. The cops being there would have seen and heard that. The cop charged with murder stated that the water flew across the kitchen floor, it was probably just spray droplets from the pan hitting the floor. She had already dumped the pot in the sink.
@@mitchio83I'm not sure what "quite a bit of water" is... Is that a pint? A quart? Half-liter? Liter? The entire pot appears to hold less than two gallons if it were full... "Quite a bit of water" on the floor is indicative of what? Everything on this planet is subject to gravity... It is a relentless force which would affect the ability to THROW anything!! Water has weight!! Picture attempting to throw (say) a room temperature gallon of milk... You could wind up and throw it over-handed (over your head)... Trying to throw a gallon of hot boiling water with oven mitts suggests that you would have to throw it under-handed (from under your head)... This severely limits a person's ability to THROW water for any significant distance!! So... Weight, distance and temperature ALL matter!! If I drop the pot (or if it is knocked over), based on gravity, "quite a bit if water" will *either* pool or flow across the floor... These are simple facts that any adult should be able to understand... If cop was concerned that he would be hit with hot water, he WOULD NOT have voluntarily closed the distance to get a better shooting angle!! #Fact The suggestion that she shouldn't have ducked down after being threatened with a weapon is ridiculous!! Cops need a reasonable belief that the individual had a weapon at their disposal in order to claim self-defense and implore deadly force!! More than just the "possibility." That possibility ALWAYS exists!! If you're that scared, as a cop, don't ever go into anyone's home!! How has this cop NOT shot more people?
SHE BACKPEDDLED, WISH I HAD WATCHED IT, I'M GOING TO TRY AND FIND IT AGAIN, IT POPPED UP WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT THAT INTERRACIAL MARRIED COUPLE KINGS &QUEENS, ROSE & BRETT TEARING EACH OTHER APART, IN FRONT OF THEIR 4 KIDS 👶🏾👶🏾👶👶🎈🎈"LIVE" ON TH-cam. One of the things that a court, prosecution, jury and Grand Jury has to look at when charging someone with a serious offense is what occurred before, during and after. When you look at the callus manner in which the officer conducted himself before, during and after it becomes obvious that this was a crime.
What they are going to see is sorry, it looks like you were justified but we can't afford for them to burn the city down so you have to go to jail for awhile.

It's obvious you can't simply understand racism when it's blatant. She saw the video. She's racist.
@@erock9594 Buddy shut up...Now your just plain irritating. You Need the police to come to YOUR house Next
@erock9594 can't be more because 1 officer had his body cam on the whole time. They took his word and he lied because he knows he was wrong. How is she coming at them when she was going to the sink, his ass walked closer to make it seem like he was in danger.
She spent a lot of time saying nothing, if it were you or someone you care about, you wouldn’t be supportive of this action.
I agree with you. No reason to kill that lady at all. That cop was extremely unprofessional and hateful sounding. Gave me chills.
They NEVER should have been inside of her home, i believe they took advantage of her hospitality as well as her mental health diagnosis to "justify" the murder.
I agree with you 100%. When he asked her if see needed anything else and see said no, they should have said okay mam and left.
A demon
I we got people out there like this who are really trying to justify what we all seen then this won’t ever stop
She thinks she slick she trying to say I'm a racist without saying I'm racist directly..
Why are we still dealing with issues with body cameras being turned on and/or off, or not working?
Never heard of any issues with firearms ever not working?
💯
Fun fact people.. these type of people always expose themselves read what she's not saying is her true belief
If he was concerned about boiling water to the face he would’ve turned to water off himself
When are you people going to learn that you are not supposed to attack law enforcement? Y'all sound like women.
non-debatable, hot water is not justifiable to shoot someone in the face but the cops history, his demeanor, the unreasonable force and things he said will lead to his conviction
I disagree, it's not justifiable after she put it down
He gonna get convicted just because of the fact he told her to go get it and poor it out. If you were so afraid of boiling water why wouldn’t you poor it out yourself. That and his background means he is cooked. Now, he will get only a few years.
I won’t be having a disagreement with you with a boiling pot of water in your hand.
@@burnthrust It's not justifiable period. Rebuking someone with a pot of hot water in your hands is a Taser moment. Not deadly force
You lost me with "she set the pot on the counter to the left". Which was on the right.
Oh and cops have to study "black religion" now? Stop the insanity
It doesn't have to be deadly force. The police can use deadly force against you, to stop bodily harm against them
Shut up bro
I watched the 2 body cam videos in the 36 minute video, about 10 times on my huge TV:
It sounds like Sonya dumped the hot water into the sink, the sound of scalding water quickly dumping into a metal sink is very distinct.
You can see quite a bit of steaming water splash onto the floor in both videos.
@@mitchio83Thank you
And if you watch after he shot there is hot steam coming off the chair in front of him where she threw water.
#Fact
The suggestion that she shouldn't have ducked down after being threatened with a weapon is ridiculous!!
You are so correct she poured some of the water in the sink and the pot was on the stove when she bent down🤨
when she opened up the door for the cops the first thing out of her mouth was don’t hurt me he said why would I hurt you? You called us here!
