Expecting some perfect outcome shows how immature you are and how under-developed your judgement is, perfection is no standard to hold human behavior against. Racist people exist in America but Racism itself is a serious offence, you have to progress far as a society to go from abusing slaves to stop making excuses for racism.
I am absolutely shocked that this is even a question that is up for debate? Perhaps you should interview more folks from the Adivasi or Dalit rights movements and let them tell you if casteism still exists. If you look at the diaspora, some of us who have settled in distant lands for many many generations in "modernized" cities STILL very much uphold the caste system to an intense level. It is deeply disgraceful and has many parallels to white supremacy in the west. We are no different than our colonizers.
People who think that casteism is not prevalent any more are wrong or maybe just distant from reality. People who think casteism is practiced by certain castes only are also wrong. I have seen everyone practicing caste system irrespective of what "caste " they belong too. Sometimes people don't even realize it. And even the educated ones who know how wrong this is contribute in continuing this system in many ways. Most marriages in India are endogamous and I don't know about others but I feel this strengthens the caste system in our country.

Oh wait. Caste is not seen in maid!!! Maid is just maid, domestic help. Noone sees caste. Stop seeing negative in everything deliberate. Freaking habit of women. Shame!!!
One common phenomenon among women of the world is that they always marry UP the ladder (with few exceptions). Either in love marriage or in arrange marriage. So for upper caste women to marry in lower caste is probably low, unless LC is well-off. So here role falls on UC women. For men, the criteria is pretty much 'beautiful women', UC n LW doesn't matter much. So is for them to fight their family n marry a LC women. Let's do this and practice Varna-Jati system as it was meant.
Caste does exist in urban areas. Even if it didn't it would not have mattered in the grand scheme of things as the urban population accounts for less than a third of India's population.
until and unless hinduism is abolished or dalits, tribals and shudras dont stop practising hinduism and switch to buddhism and christianity the caste system cannot be abolished. caste system is the shadow of hinduism wherever hindus go theyll carry caste system with them. recent caste discrimination case of cisco system in US proves the same. hinduism should be abolished to eliminate superstitions and discrimination from subcontinent
I was really appreciating all your comments... until I read this one. Religion might not matter to you but it matters to a lot of people. It's not going anywhere, as long as people are against intercaste marriages
how does intercaste marriage solves the problem can you elaborate
Caste absolutely exists in urban India. My paternal aunt runs a marriage bureau and you'll be shocked with the kind of cast demands even well educated people have.
It's not illegal nor a sin .

Caste in rural India is a heirarchy
Class in urban India ia a stereotype.
First remove casteism in India then only talk about removing reservation , removing reservation without removing casteism is useless
How?
People who think that casteism is not prevalent any more are wrong or maybe just distant from reality.
People who think casteism is practiced by certain castes only are also wrong.
I have seen everyone practicing caste system irrespective of what "caste " they belong too.
Sometimes people don't even realize it. And even the educated ones who know how wrong this is contribute in continuing this system in many ways.
Most marriages in India are endogamous and I don't know about others but I feel this strengthens the caste system in our country.
Yes it does exist!! Prima facie it might look like it doesn’t exist in urban spaces . It exists as class system . Like an upper caste would marry a Muslim or Christian than marry a Dalit. It might look like we are progressing but it isn’t the truth
Everyone has the right to dislike whatever they want .
Of course yes
Discrimination exist everywhere but the quantity in cities is far lesser than countryside.
In Singapore people by law are forced to live in same flats but they still have problem of racism then how you make 100% pure society in india

They can only discriminate if you reveal your caste name. Like South Indians do, stop using your caste name as surname and don't reveal it to your social group. If asked, shut them down. It is never acceptable to ask for someone's caste info. So feel free to refuse.

Yes,it does.
Truely said. Hinduism basic structure is based on caste discrimination and exploitation in name of caste.
I was really appreciating all your comments... until I read this one. Religion might not matter to you but it matters to a lot of people. "Abolishing" a religion is never the answer, peaceful coexistence is. Caste-based discrimination is very much real, reservations are very much required. But to think of abolishing an entire religion?? How are you any different from these right-winger conservatives then? C'mon man. What you said itself qualifies as hate speech against a religion. You cannot replace hate with more hate and expect love as a result.

It's like you are trying to convince yourself that casteism doesn't exist when the whole point of video was about this only.
@@Himani02160 Are you sure that there is not much cultural variations among castes. I disagree on this. Marriage is about compatibility.
