Bluebell Railway Branch Line Gala Weekend Saturday 13th May 2017

  • Over the weekend of 13th & 14th of May the Bluebell Railway host their Branch Line Gala with seven locomotives in action on a intensive timetable service of four passenger trains.
    The star of the gala is the London North Western Railway Webb Coal Tank No.1054 (Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, National Trust & Bahamas Society) joins in the railway home fleet which include four South Eastern & Chatham Railway locomotives which are H Class No.263, two P Class Nos.178 & 323 "Bluebell" and C Class No.592 (marking its last gala appearance before being withdrawn from service) take the center stage over the two day event.
    The two other locomotives in action are British Railways Standard class 5 No.73082 "Camelot"(standing in for the Southern Railway Q class No.30541 which failed due to a Super heater) and Fletcher, Jennings & Co 0-4-0T No.3 "Captain Baxter" is put on shunting demonstrations at the up yard at Horsted Keynes station.

      I will be going to the Bluebell during July where the West Country class No.34092 "city of Wells" is visiting.

    What, at 16:05 British steam locomotives have bells can you please explain Joe?

      Some British steam locos like the GWR 1366 class Pannier tank and LNER class J70 steam tram do have bells, but no other British steam locos don't have any bells.

      The locomotive in question is London &North Western Railway 'Webb Coal Tank' No.1054, its the only loco visiting the Bluebell Railway Branch Line gala.
