I got this very console, Galaxy Black SE. It’s my first Xbox ever. I’ve been playing Nintendo and PlayStation since the 80’s and 90’s (respectively) and have every PlayStation except PS3.
I have to say, Xbox packaging and presentation kills everything else. I seem to recall PS5 was essentially just in the box with minimal packaging. Unboxing the Xbox last night was a welcome treat
My first console was 3ds even tho it was for when I was really young and me and my brother own a Xbox one s (we had it since end of 2016) so he a teen now so I use it more
Agree, Microsoft do a great job with packaging and giving a great unboxing experience. Makes us feel like they do care about what they are doing.
Love my series X and my PS5. Play em both all the time.
Ive had the series S since launch since all the X's were sold out, so i upgraded & bought the 2tb Galaxy Edition & will sell my S eventually

I wish Microsoft made the Robot White Series X with a disc drive. I like that one better, but this Galaxy Black is beautiful too.
I'm not a big fan of the Galaxy one, I really want the white version with a disc drive and 2TB HDD.
I think I saw the Easter egg, literally right after the editor said “he never found it” it panned over to the galaxy pattern, and if you really look, you can see the X for the Xbox logo

Can't deny it's a beautiful looking console. I would've been all over the Galaxy edition if it had been a "pro" version like the PS5 pro. All you really get is a new paint job and a 2TB SSD. I already have a WB C50 1TB expansion card on my series X and neither the card nor the SSD filled up. It's a missed opportunity from xbox to give us a pro version. If this ever goes on sale, then I'll consider picking one up.
I waited for a sale too and got one with Best Buy's offer of a $75 Digital Gift Card with purchase. It's the best deal so far that I have seen this holiday season for it. There is still time for another deal so I'm going to keep it in the box and wait after December 24th 😉 .
I wish they at least included rubber controller at the VERY LEAST for this price point 4 years into a cycle :(

Hopefully the expansion cards will be compatible with the next generation of consoles. Otherwise that’s a $150-$400 paperweight.
I'm primarily an Xbox player since the 360 and I prefer Xbox. I love my PS5 Slim but I choose to buy the Galaxy Special Edition over the PS5 Pro. I'd have to pay approximately $1000 to get the PS5 Pro console, accessories, oh yeah, and a disc drive, lol. I only play PS for a few select games so it's worth it for the Xbox Galaxy Edition 💯
I want the original black one but with the new efficient APU.

I had a 1tb series x That just died after 3 years
I replaced it with the new 2tb galaxy because that’s what you need for games these days. If they did a 2tb digital I would have got that, I also considered using a ssd to increase storage but it works out cheaper to go for the 2tb Xbox galaxy - 😊
For me I like the look but it's the price that can go and do one, yes you also have 2tb of storage but I already have a Series X so I could just buy a 2tb storage expansion card and spend less money. I wouldn't have the space design but at least I wouldn't of spent the ridiculous price on something I technically already have.

Im upgrading to this galaxy edition. My original Xbox series X disc drive gave out.

I saw it at target i was surprised they had like 4 of them i was going to but i saw people were asking about if they had the ps5 pro and they did so instead i went with the pro 😅 thats a nice paint job on the xbox tho

Why does the s exist if you have an all digital X now? Would have made sense to me if a digital X was released with disc version. As far as this so called special edition it would have been cheaper to just get a 2TB card…sprinkling some paint on it and changing the base color to green really doesn’t justify buying it.
But what happens when the service is no longer supported? Now i have an expensive paperweight that wont play anything because i cant login anymore. Nah im good and sticking to disc based consoles and PC - at least with PC i can attach a CD drive if i want, or upgrade or download my games and will be able to play them OFFLINE. I hate being online all the time and being dependant on the cloud. Not me.
You can still play offline on the all digital version.
It's coming wether we like it or not ,it's inevitable, and a disc drive for pc ,they still have those

Nothing to see here if you already have a Series X already. Maybe they’ll make a special edition one like a Gears of War theme then maybe I’ll get a 2TB. I hope this is enough of an upgrade for Series S owners.
I have an Xbox One X gears of war 5 special edition. Got it for $350 beans new back in 2019 and just upgraded to 2 TB hard drive after original drive failed to update software and giving me a bunch of error codes lol but now she runs like new and better then ever!!

I'd rather buy an expansion card and spray paint my own speckles 😂.
They speckles look much better in person and give a nice textured feel to the Xbox. Spray paint won’t have the same effect😂

I mean that depends, what do you want to play on the Xbox Series X? There's a ton of games coming to the GamePass service for the remainder of the year that this dude mentioned.
I would research the titles that are coming and make an informed decision on it.
If you plan on only getting physical titles for the PS5, you can get the all digital console that'll save you 150 dollars.

@@philbosh03 That's why I asked the first question and for the individual to do research. You might not think it's worth it so you have already answered that question for yourself but this person, they might lean towards it because they are interested in what games it offers and more in the future.
Yeah you can get some of the games on PS5 but you're already paying 70 dollars a pop when you can pay 20 dollars a month to have access to all of those titles.

If you have a series x this is not upgrade, you would be better off getting a 1tb card and series 2 controller
It is an upgrade. You get 2tb internal storage and an improved heat sink with copper pipes as well as a shrunken cpu chip that has the same performance but is cheaper to manufacture and draws less electricity so there is less heat.

galaxy black is a useless console. the old series x was fine. this bring nothing new other than the storage. i dont see why buy this unless you did not have already a series x.

I’ll probably end up selling the current series x once I get this one so I can make a bit of the money back and use it on other stuff. Mostly just for a little bit of convenience.

Xbox are worse than. Sony.....release a new console that is exacly the same as the previous console. The only difference between the original Series X and this new Series X are the white specks on the console......it looks ridiculous I will tell you why. Anyone who has painted a ceiling or wall with a paint roller will know specks of paint go everywhere as the paint roller is moved from side to side or up and down. The specks of paint land on surfaces and create a pattern.....that pattern looks exacly the same as Microsoft's new Series X console. The console looks like it has been covered in paint by someone using a paint roller near by 😂😂😂
It’s not the same. It has an extra terabyte of storage (so 2 TB), it has a upgraded chip which runs cooler and uses less energy, has a different cooling unit, it’s a little lighter, AND it has speckles!
@johnanderson186 Those changes will not be noticeable by owners. It will perform exactly the same as the existing Xbox Series X. No difference will be seen.
200 bucks more for a paint job. Won't fill that extra space with, um, games😂😂😂
