Singaporeans born between 1970-1989 got the BEST childhood memories ever! I remember visiting my grandparents in kampong weekly and enjoyed many simple, beautiful things that made my dozen of uncles, aunties and cousins laughed.

I'm Filipino who stayed in Singapore for quite a while. I always listen to this song. This makes me feel that I have a second home and that is Singapore. I'm in the Philippines now but sometimes I feel "homesick" for Singapore. I love both Philippines and Singapore.

I get goose bumps listening this song and seeing those old images of Singapore.
Even tho I’m a Filipino , this song makes me feel like I’m belonged there in Singapore simply because I was born there and I grew up there for a decade. I’ve never stepped foot into SG during the COVID pandemic, and I hope I’ll be there soon. Man it’s been a year since I’ve been stuck in Philippines throughout this crisis, oh hey, NDP is just around the corner and I’m gonna celebrate even I’m in Philippines right now. Mabuhay Singapore! When i was 8, i left singapore to go back to phillippines after spending my entire life there and then went to canada. Now im 14 and im litterally having a big blast of nostalgia after not hearing this for 6 years straight and not seeing the street & playground on google earth of which i grew up on for all these years just brings joy to my heart

I'm not Singaporean, i lived there for a rough 5 years in my childhood. I love this place more than own country and this sing just makes me miss the Singaporean land even more.

22 yrs on, How far have we progressed?At 2:44 , We see part of Our Singapore Skyline, Esplanade Bridge leading to Fullerton Hotel, What was once nothing is now "The Esplanade". Multiple Office Tower have also risen filling the one empty skies above Esplanade Bridge. The Camera stationed on the land now we know as the Art science Museum alongside the 3 towers of Marina Bay Sands Hotel
Anyone notice that this is a fan favourite ... no, I mean Singapore favourite NDP song? It was played in ndp 2004, and ndp 2011 if I'm not wrong. It's like this song is well-liked and recognised by many Singaporeans :)

This is one of the song that is so close to my heart. I literally cried (tears of joy and being thankful each day passes) each time while singing this along with the parade in front if the TV every 9th Aug. The pride. The Joy. I never want to be anywhere else. I would only want to grow old and grey here. Never mind if others left for a greener side of the world. No place can be as same as Singapore. THIS IS HOME TRULY. The current government should take a look at the video and reflect what have they done to Singapore through the decade, other than just making it more economically valued...the meaning of home has slowly lost it's true feeling in people's heart and soul.

very very true, i thank the government for bringing our economy to this state, but this fast growth comes at the price of us slowly losing its identify. nothing against the foreigners but the government should see the citizens as a collective unit rather than part of their GDP

One of the best Singapore national days songs ever. Been listening to it since 1998 and i am only 13. I will be 37 this year soon. I miss the good old days and times of Singapore...use to be a lot more fun and laidback. Nowadays it is getting more expensive and stressful. I already lost my sense my patriotism of the country since year 2010. Life is not the same since then...sigh....

In school, we never sung this song properly. There's always at least one joker in the class singing either the Mosquito song or "我的家爆炸" instead until the teachers got annoyed with him/her LOL
Because of that joker the whole class kena punished to sing the song again and again.
