But the issue with getting a bigger traditional rebounder is that it’s harder for us to get it in transition and we would have a player on the court that doesn’t fit the spacing, shot creation, fast flowing mold we have on this team
@@braxtonbickham3262 not entirely true there’s mobile rebounding bigs look at guys like Jarret Allen or Claxton (who might be available). I feel like them playing Jalen Williams at the 4 and Dort at the 3 is gonna hurt them come playoff time

SGA is one of my favorite players right now. He has this snakelike quality kinda like Kobe where his movements are so smooth and skilled, and you just know he can completely dissect anything the defense gives him.
Man, couldn’t have analysed a team better. This team has some vicious lineups alright, Josh needs a bit of time on few areas of his game but can definitely see him improving. I think this team has the potential to get it done, if not this year but in the next year or two granted they keep these pieces they have and improve in all aspects needed. Great video. I think our only true weakness is defensive rebounding, not so much offensive because as you said, the strategy is to get back ASAP. Chet's physicality will improve over time, and he has made a conscientious effort lately to grab more DREB, but the rest of the starters are not providing him ideal support. Bigger teams like Minnesota and Denver would expose that big time over a seven-game series, in my opinion. I honestly think that if the rebounding was around league-average we'd be the title favorites due to ridiculous efficiency on both ends.
That's what worries me about the Giddey thing. He needs to be on the floor for rebounding and size, but there are way better offensive options. Kuzma fits both, would love to see them pick him up to fill that 4 spot!
@@HoopVenue The thing is Giddey has one of the fastest processors in the league. He's elite at reading the game - He just couldn't shoot yet.

OKC aint making superstar trades let alone trade Giddey.
People forget that they are still on the learning process, they just overachieving so far.
They will test first how far this lineup can go in the playoffs of course if they make it first.
I don’t think they’re overachieving at all though, they are just way better, way earlier than people initially thought.
I think tre man could be a potential great trade piece soon, once they test what they can do this season
Great video always enjoy your team breakdowns and the thunder are already formidable enough to make a deep postseason run but i would feel much more confident in that if they can trade for a center that can help them with their rebounding issue. A player like andre drummond or jakob potel would move the needle for them hugely

@@HoopVenue the idea of Drummond sounds good but for okc it wouldn’t work even if he playing limited minutes due to how okc likes to play in order for it to work they would have to change their whole scheme plus okc would just not play him,
Okc wants everyone to be able to pass dribble,shoot and defend somewhat on the perimeter.they constantly pass up on bigs like Drummond when they could have gotten one because they went to play a certain style plus in order for a big like Drummond to work they would need trade giddey and possibly Lu dort because having 3 non floor spacer on a team with shai is bad and makes it easy to guard shai

I don’t think that’s realistic, considering how highly Utah values Lauri (and rightfully so).

Honestly it’s tough, because I don’t know what to expect from him in the playoffs.
Still gets beat off the dribble quite a bit, tends to “over-help” a lot, but his length, hands, and ability to protect the rim as a PG are absurd, so he still has a ton of off-ball values
I’d say clear + at the moment, far from all-defense but making a difference on the #4 D.
@@HoopVenueI think the over helping has more to do with our scheme. everyone does it and I’d guess we do it to make up for our lack of size.

I cringed so hard when people slandered Gobert for getting smoked on the perimeter in that clippers series a few years ago & said he should be locking up guards because he was “DPOY”🤦🏽♂️ like people seriously need to separate the two.
He’s a top 50 defender imo. Not the best but a far above average one

If the Thunder use some of their 20 first round picks and Giddey in a package deal they can trade for a star like Lauri that can play off ball with veteran leadership and probably win it all
As a Jazz fan, that's the one trade I kinda like for Lauri. Giddey as a young player that could use a change of scenery, and 3-4 FRPs. :D

Great breakdown as always. If the Thunder could trade Giddey and dump Bertans to shore up their depth with some veterans for the playoffs, I could see them making a finals run or winning it all. I think Brogdon, Kuzma, and Rob Will are a few guys they should try and go after if they want to make preparations for playoffs.

Sure a K.Olynyk would be great but C.Wallace, I.Joe, A.Wiggins & V.Micic gradual improvement will be what eventually brings a Championship.

What has to be accounted for is how the game slows down in the playoffs and the physicality increases. Will Chet hold up with little significant front court depth? Will Giddy get played off the court? Will the shooting carry over when it usually decreases in the playoffs? If the game slows and transition opportunities become limited, shooting drops, Chet is taking a pounding with heavy minutes and bigger more physical front courts, and Giddy is being played off the court with a lack of scoring what does this team look like??
The halfcourt offense and the defensive metrics are impressive. The shooting and transition numbers might fall in the playoffs but Im sold on the other stuff. The only thing that concerns me about their chances this year is young teams usually dont win in the playoffs. That said, their future is extremely bright. It'll be interesting to see what the GM does with all the picks they have. That's going to be what decides if this team will be a dynasty or not.
Fun fact if they won the NBA finals this year they would be the youngest team to win a championship in NBA history! I think they have it in them but it certainly won’t be easy
I always wanted to ask who do u think was better at their apex (meaning singular yr) Duncan or KG and why?
I’m a KG guy, but that’s really splitting hairs imo. Duncan’s the much better isolation scorer and I think a better rim protector, but KG’s got the passing, shooting, and defensive versatility edge.
I think if they played on similar quality teams during that 2000-05 era it’d be a much bigger debate.

I don't expect them to do great this playoffs, just due to a lack of experience. It's next year I'm more interested in. But I think it is fair to expect them to get out of the first round this year.
We'll just have to wait and see!

Cason Wallace (star potential young player) Bertans (cap space) picks for any years they don't have ones currently namely 2024 2026 and 2029 and one more for 2025 and 2027 (of which they will have three picks making moves really easy for them those years). Two 2024 picks giddey and the less impressive jalen Williams for caruso and Drummond and they're laughing

I really think we can win one or two series in the playoffs. Shai can do it, just surround him with shooters on the floor cause we can’t play two non shooters with him, not only they can clog the paint but they def can double him easily. Am I wrong to fear that SGA's low volume, mediocre three-point shooting might screw up OKC's chances in the playoffs? Because I know SGA is a better playmaker and a way better defender, but I get Toronto Demar vibes from him. Or more specifically, I can't help be feel that some team with the right personnel might be able to come up with a scheme that forces SGA to beat them with threes and he won't be able to hit enough to break it.

Don't get it twisted, this team will go as far as a maturing and healthy chet holmgren will take them. He is a unique talent that powers the thunder to potentially becoming a championship team. He ties the whole thing together.

For sure we should beat the pelicans, mavericks, jazz. I think we could possibly also beat the Timberwolves, suns, and kings. Clippers and Nuggets are the only two teams I don’t think we have much chance of beating

@@HoopVenue best way to use him is as a secondary player to be the ball handler when Shai and Jdub aren’t on the court. Having all three just will not work in the playoffs

Because jdub run the offense with the secound unit plus giddey has other flaws outside of shooting because he can’t create separation at all so he can’t get to the rim and his playmaking is so overrated since he can’t put pressure on the offense he become predictable majority of his assist has always came from him just waiting for a player to cut to the rim
Then add on he not a good finisher and with him being a bad finisher he can’t get to the line
Our biggest problem in the playoffs will be rebounding. it's our biggest problem now. I want a big physical 4 or 5 for the frontcort. Someone who won't get bodied by bigs like AD or Gorbet. Isaiah Stewart from the pistons would be perfect in my mind. wouldn't cost much and he's tough as hell. Start Sga, dort, jdub, Stewart and chet.

I said Dort and Kenrich might not be able to sustain their shooting, Joe is inconsistent. You just intentionally didn't hear those things because they aren't on the agenda like Giddey, lol.
I'm not going to dive into the weaknesses of guys like Wiggins, Kenrich, Cason who play 10-15 MPG.
Giddey's a starter, he is held to a higher standard and his issues would have a bigger impact in a playoff series.

They feel like a good regular season team, same with Minnesota. Teams don't win championships after not making the playoffs the year before.
To be fair, it's a VERY different team. Obviously a more extreme example is the '08 Celtics, but they went from a 24-58 15 seed to a 66-16 champion. Thunder were already competitive in a stacked West, then took another leap, same with Minnesota.
Both teams have elite, versatile defenses which is the first thing I look at for playoff translation. I'm more worried about Minny's offense, but they're more than capable of winning multiple low scoring series', same with OKC.
I only worry about them against "gunners" like Denver or LAC that really can't be slowed down and forced into a mucky series.

Can't really sag off SGA because he's so good at attacking space, he'll just use the room to get to the paint even easier. I'd imagine teams try to play Dort/Giddey/Kenrich off the floor by making them die by the 3, but we'll have to see if it works or not, and what adjustments OKC makes to counter. I think they can beat anyone if it goes right!

This #Thunder team is built BETTER & with less liability issues or ( & for now) less ego, w/ better talent (minus KD) but make up for that KD gap with SGA'S far better optics and skill Vs Westbrook & Chet, who holds the size of Durant with some obvious mechanics & agility problems when compared 1:1 with KD but he isnt going to be that horribly far off with health and a couple years more development & fundamental training time. THIS TEAM is really being overlooked and shouldn't be, they very likely are up next , as looking around the league , I dont see how this Team with more future depth and growth, strength and experience, is going to be beatable in the West, the Nuggetts very much will be their FOE and we should get some amazing Western Conference Finals out of this , and NOTHING IN THE EAST WORRIES ME. No one is built like either the Nuggetts or Thunder; People who want to argue the Celtics or the Bucks? First of all, BOTH COACHES ARE SUS. DOC RIVERS IS THE MOST OVERRATED & OUTMATCHED & TEAM LIABILITY , literally in HISTORY as a "Top Tier Coach". He has done NOTHING to deserve that label, he got lucky in BOSTON, and then Look ehat he did the next 3 years there - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT FAIL. SAME WITH THE CLIPPERS & SAME WITH THE 76ERS. ALL teams built for a run, all teams that #CHOKED every time it mattered and the COACH does have a lot to do with that in close, crunch time, high I.Q. chess, with timeouts, plays in crusciql moments and the rotation! BOSTON isnt the same without UDOKA FACTS. He was able to get that team playing great defense, and work ethic that was propelling them to BE THE BEST AT EVERY ROLE AND IN EVERY SITUATION - since UDOKA LEFT, its obvious and clear that team is running the team, and they have fallen back on terrible bad habits, ISO-CENTRIC offense, with a non-comolementary Offensive scheme that is not built for the Playoffs - and they got rid of their entire defense and the heart of that team in MARCUS SMART. P.S. where is BROGDAN?!? The Celtics are a joke and the Bucks aint doing nothin til they drop Middleton , Lopez and get a legitimate 5, and aome effective role olaying , defensive juggernauts and some shooting deoth the soace for Giannis and Lillard. The rest of the EAST? I honestly cant name another team. I really like the Raptors alot, but they are trying to find an identity right now and a cpuple years from being a serious threat, and I do believe we will se Dame stuck in Milwaukie in literally the same position he was in in PORTLAND to watch his last few years end in a whimper ; while GIANNIS will decide to take the leap and join up somewhere for and I believe that very well could be a POST LEBRON Lakers team, that will finally cut the cancer out and get another Generational talent there in Giannis and build a SOLID WESTERN CONFERENCE #3 TOP TIER TEAM.
