  • My final compilation video of the year catching up with the classic tractors at work in the fields of Cumbria. It was fantastic seeing so many machines from the classic era still putting in a day’s graft, many of them so well cared for that it almost transports you back 30 or so years to when these machines were almost new. If anyone wants to hazard a guess to how many tractors feature in the video please do so and let me know in the comments section. No prizes for the right (or wrong) answer but I promise to bring you some more of the same in 2024. All the best to everyone, thank you for watching this year, as always it’s most appreciated and I’ll see you all in 2024. Cheers, David.
    Filmed in Cumbria 2023.

Likes and taking the time to comment (preferably positive ones) are always welcomed and I will try to reply as soon as possible although if I’m at work or out filming there might be a delay. Cheers, David.

      Thanks Steve. Yes it’s surprising how many are still out there working, a lot more than I expected. Looking forward to getting out in the fields again, hopefully I’ll find a bit of spare time because I’m absolutely snowed under (literally!) at work. Cheers David

      No music in the field Michael, just the sound of machinery at work! You’re right, can’t beat it, hopefully a good long one to enjoy next year. All the best for 2024, cheers David.

    The 7810 ford ploughing is a real gem, I wish I had them all in my shed though 👌🏻👍🏻

      You’d need a big shed John! Yeh 7810 walked away with that plough even though it was a really sticky field that hadn’t had a plough through it for years. All the best for 2024 John, hope it’s a good one for you. Cheers, David.

    Brilliant complation David, always so nice to see older machines still hard at work. That reverse drive chopper with the MF390 and Renault working alongside is such an awesome sight!

      Thank you Jacob. Yes plenty of the older classics in the fields this year, a surprising amount considering I didn’t actually get out as much as I usually do. Oh yes the Fendt reverse drive is something else and with the Renault and Massey 390 was a very colourful field to filming in. All the best for 2024 my friend, looking forward to more of your field drone footage this year. Cheers, David.

      There are some lovely older tractors in the area Paul, many of them very well looked after indeed. I would think there’s still quite a few more still to discover too, hopefully I will. Those Masseys certainly are great tractors, although I like every manufacturer’s models I’ve got a soft spot for the red & greys because that’s what I was brought up with! All the best for 2024 Paul, hope to hear from you next year. Cheers, David.

      Thanks Jack, it’s certainly been varied. I’ve covered a few miles and wandered around many a field but I’m really pleased with the end results which wouldn’t have happened without the kind cooperation of the owners. Hopefully new pastures to visit in 2024 but in the meantime thanks for all your support this year Jack, it’s been very much appreciated. All the best to you in the coming year, Cheers, David

I’ve had lots of clips from everywhere I’ve visited this year so plenty to put a nice round-up video together, surprising how many classics are still out there working the fields. All the best for 2024 Andrew, look forward to hearing from you next year. Cheers, David.

    I have mentioned it before David, what I particularly like about your videos is the absence of annoying music and the recording of the actual sounds. You do this so well. Have you thought about a drone? You could get some great footage. A drone doesn't record sound but what you can do is record sounds on other devices and then put the sound onto the film made by the drone. I don't think I can put a link here, but if you search "Harry Sherrard David Brown 880" I think you should be able to find a video of me mowing silage. Much of that was filmed from a drone but the sounds you hear when the drone footage is playing has been recorded on the ground and then edited onto the drone footage. It takes a bit of effort but I think you will agree that there is a good result in the end.
    Keep up the good work; do you film over the winter?

    • @davidwinthrop7077
      @davidwinthrop7077  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Harry and thanks for the great feedback. Pleased you enjoy the videos and like you I like to hear the machinery at work as I would in the field. I have thought about a drone and yes I would like one as I think they capture some fabulous footage but for a couple of reasons I haven’t purchased one as yet (though may do in the future). First reason I haven’t is financially I can’t at the moment as I’m pouring most of my wages into paying off the mortgage a bit sooner (after that it’s a good possibility) and secondly I’m carrying around my Nikon DSLR camera with a fairly heavy lens so I’m pretty laden with equipment in the field. That’s interesting about recording the sound on a separate device (smartphone I presume), didn’t realise you could do that? I’m going to have to look your DB 880 video up, not only one of my favourite tractors but great to see one still working. I’ll let you know when I do. I don’t normally film in the winter as I work 6-6 through the week but I’m hoping to maybe get some yard scraping, feeding and maybe some muck spreading videos if we get some nice frosty weather over the coming months. Would be great to post some other subjects and as always your suggestions are always welcome. Thanks again Harry, cheers, David.

    Just the perfect compilation David to bring the year to a close. If I could have old tractors running through my veins then I would as it gives me such satisfaction. The farming community particularly of old was a very very close knit group who would do anything for any neighbor and that also included lending someone a tractor when something had went wrong. I started to count all the tractors, but kept getting sidetracked looking at what you had filmed them doing, and I kept loosing my count (And I played the video back 3 times lol), but there had to be at least 17! But what made my day was you probably had my two most favourite tractors in the video, and that was the good old MF 135 which I spent most of my younger days on and the tractor that I first got to use our 4 furrow reversible plough on and that was the Ford 7810. Up until then I was only allowed the two furrow on a DB 996. Love the old MF Articulated tractor too (not sure the model), as I always wanted a go on one. Well once again David, many thanks for all your great work which I very much appreciate, as I know its takes a lot of time to both film and edit. Really looking forward to what you will have in store for us in 2024, and hope its a great New Year for you too.

    • @davidwinthrop7077
      @davidwinthrop7077  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Fraser. Yes I think many of us have those old classics in our blood and that’s no bad thing is it? I know what you mean about those close knit groups of old and I know contractors are usually that helping (though at a cost) hand these days but I still know of a lot of neighbouring farmers that muck in together at busy times! 15 in total though I had to recount them myself and I put the video together! I’ve a lot of fondness for the MF 135 too as basically that’s the model (alongside a 35X and 148) I learned to drive on, there’s still a good 2-3 of the last ones still working everyday up here in north Cumbria and still doing a great job! Never sat behind the wheel of a Ford 7810 or MF 1250 but had cab rides in both, sadly not too many DB 996s about here now which is a pity as again they were a great tractor. It’s a pleasure putting the videos together especially when they get appreciated by those such as yourself, yes sometimes it can be time consuming editing the footage together but it keeps me out of mischief for a few hours! I’ve kind of got a few ideas in mind for next year, hoping to visit different areas of Cumbria and meeting new people, hopefully it’ll all fall into place. All the best Fraser, happy new year and many of them my friend. Cheers, David.
