  • Comparing how it was to skate in the early 2000's vs today where you dont feel as much energy and motivation to get better. Shot this on my birthday, but took a while to edit because i've got many skate vids coming!

I dont think mastering switch heels on flat ground will get you anywhere. However riding at fast speed and using variety of obstacles while landing simple tricks with proper touch eventually will. Ive seen skaters with very low variety of tricks but they are masters at their domain and it looks epic. Building on top of that is much easier and much more joyable as well.

We grew up skating street with your big group of mates. Experiencing all types of different spots and life experiences. No one cared about being good. It was all about the fun. Not like going to a skate park to train. Generation full of skate park skaters who can’t skate street. Skate parks are repetitive. It holds back true board control and being able to adjust to anything outside of a skatepark theme. Everyone these days wants to skate to be better than others. Not to have fun as a collective. It’s the generational change from it being a fun lifestyle with mates to training as if it’s a sport with rules. The lifestyle is disappearing. That’s why all new skaters are so generic and boring even if they can do all these tricks. Style always beats ability. And you’ll never have a non generic style when you spend your whole time skating in a generic place.

yeah hopefully an alternative skate scene will pick back up where i live, but you never see anyone outside skating anymore compared to the early 2000s.
