Im Switching to 8.25...
I have been on 8.38 for a while, but watching alot of Paul Rodriguez has inspired me to downsize and not just follow people upsizing because of trends.

The Place I Grew up Skating is Dead Now
มุมมอง 1063 ปีที่แล้ว
Not much to say about this revisit, somehow it was lifeless. all the memories i had having a blast with the mates i use to skate with here are gone. all of those mates seem like theyre gone too. i just skated here expecting to see one of my friends come to the skatepark like usual, but i forgot its been about 6 years and times are different now. Ill have to move on and embrace this place I star...

    That spacer piece is there so that your bearings are spinning kind of on that when it's pressed up against it instead of spinning freely on your trucks It helps make your bearings last longer and spin more consistently😊

    What is shoe size in Australia? I’m an Aussie and skated for 25 years and the whole time skate shoes are sold in US sizes, there is no Australian size chart hahahaha rarely they may be marketed in UK size but never have I ever heard anyone mention they wear a UK size. It’s all US sizing

  • @AndySo2000
    @AndySo2000 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    It's ok for your feet to be way bigger than the board. It's true 7.76 and small wheels is very easy to flip. But if you skate transition it's going to be too small. If you skate street it would work. Too small for me though I skate a 8.5 and 8.75 I'm a size 12 US.

    Felipe Gustavo still skates an 8. And it’s like an inch shorter than your average skateboard at like 31 inches.

    I love 8.5 and I have tiny feet lol I'm probably biased to that size because I like Longboarding and Transition Skating. I find 8.5 helps me not over rotate/flip my board.

    the bearing/wheel core spacers make a solid connection through the inner races of the bearing. it is better for the function and longevity of the bearing from a mechanical perspective. if you have them you should use them

    i like phillips hardware, looking down at allen bolts would bug me out. grindking rocketbolts look sick, the heads are star shaped and they just pull in as you tighten the nut. so you don't need allen key or screwdriver or anything

    i like standard weight trucks. i could maybe see the benefit of hollow/lights over 8.75"

  • @diplenski
    @diplenski 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    the 8.38" has really tapered kicks, so it probably feels smaller than it is. i'm 6'3, 205ish, 11.5(us), i used to ride 7.5", 7.65" in the '90s. i'm usually 8-8.25" on popsicles and 9"+ on shapes. 8" trucks on an 8.25" deck is fine, just want a wider wheel shape like a radial

  • @Jordykanters
    @Jordykanters 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I went up to 8.5 and then back to 8.38 but I am still struggling to learn 360 flips, also recovering from an acl replacement so I am also going for 8.25 and new trucks when I get back at it. (My shoe size is 9.5 and I just liked the way wide boards felt riding around and landing)

    Enjoyed the video man. I searched for skate deck sizes and this came up. I’ve always skated a 7.75 and it’s because that was the norm in my little town back in the day. But I think my next deck I’m going to go wider. Iv got size 9uk feet.

    • @treehouse6025
      @treehouse6025 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I used to skate 7.75 also, then went 8, 8.1, 8.25, 8.38, and then 8.4. I stayed on 8.25 for a while because it's comfortable. I liked 8.4 a lot, too. It's really nice to have all of that area to put your feet on for stability. The shape of the board also matters, of course. I also jump around wheel size. I used 52, then 54, and am now on 56mm. I lost my 8.4 unfortunately and wanted to try going down again just to test how it would be going back down. So I got an 8 tonight, and it's weird. Lol. Especially with the big wheels. But I think its all fun and enjoyable and no matter what board you get, I like to ride them for a while and get use to it. To me having good bearings are even more important.

Good effort tho man , keep it up . Can you do nollie trays , they were quite fun when I skated and fakie big spin flips . I did way too many trays over the years , my right knee isn't what she use to be . I was always more of a fan of backside flips tbh . Frontside flips were always a bit weird I found .

    Im a street skater and I loved this park. Its got some funky stuff like how the 9 stair rail being too steep and things like the wasted 5 stair but of course parks will have things like this. Its a great park especially for rail skaters. If i wanted to say everything good about this park it would go on for ages.

    We grew up skating street with your big group of mates. Experiencing all types of different spots and life experiences. No one cared about being good. It was all about the fun. Not like going to a skate park to train. Generation full of skate park skaters who can’t skate street. Skate parks are repetitive. It holds back true board control and being able to adjust to anything outside of a skatepark theme. Everyone these days wants to skate to be better than others. Not to have fun as a collective. It’s the generational change from it being a fun lifestyle with mates to training as if it’s a sport with rules. The lifestyle is disappearing. That’s why all new skaters are so generic and boring even if they can do all these tricks. Style always beats ability. And you’ll never have a non generic style when you spend your whole time skating in a generic place.

    I dont think mastering switch heels on flat ground will get you anywhere. However riding at fast speed and using variety of obstacles while landing simple tricks with proper touch eventually will. Ive seen skaters with very low variety of tricks but they are masters at their domain and it looks epic. Building on top of that is much easier and much more joyable as well.
