    It’s called Miruthangam. Vanakam

      it is not. In Tamil the sciprts does not have compound letters and hence each compound letter from other language such as Samskrutham are broken and adjusted to write in . That is why mru is broken and written as miru . only in Tamil nadu dha (as in English word 'The' ) is written as Tha . Please watch th-cam.com/video/n9cP9qSKDkM/w-d-xo.html to understand better.       Namasthe, I use all synthetic SRI Mridangam (no leather / wood)
