@@SLiMmcl Yeah but ronda was never a striker, she literally just wanted to beat bethe at her own game, like yall always bring up Rousey's striking when discussing her skills, MMA is Mixed Martial Arts, shes a decorated judoka with AMAZING grappling skills, for instance, Shevchencko got mounted by Sara Kaufman and had a hard time fighting her, 4 years after ronda squashed her in round 1, went 5 rounds with Carmouche and couldnt even move properly on the ground, Nunes got squashed by Alexis Davis, Sara Da'Lalio and Cat Zingano, all whom ronda finished in a combined time of less then a minute, Ronda is seriously so underrated, I'd say in terms of what she did and how she did it shes better then Nunes, my opinion.. but facts are facts and what Nunes did to Cyborg Rousey and Holm was epic.. but look how she fought GDR and Shevchencko the second time, cowardly and point fighting/lay and praying. Ronda came to FIGHT everytime and was never going to point fight. "one trick pony" is so mofo stupid, nunes overhand is a "one trick pony" doesnt sound right does it? NO! an armbar is a perfectly legal way to win an MMA fight just as much as an overhand or a hook is.. why do you guys always give more credit to strikers? when grappling literally takes more skills and strength. Nobody says Ronda striking beth makes her the greatest of all time.. we talking about her grappling, throws, ground game and also her counter throws.. ive never seen anyone reverse a takedown the way she did against miesha tate 3x in one fight, absolutely amazing.. she just had a really trash boxing coach, poor girl went her whole career knowing nothing about boxing and managed to pull together all her wins using her judo, Nunes needed american top team and some other shit to help her because the Nunes who fought cat zingano is not the nunes today, shes huge and wide and basically a man, shoudlve never been fighting at 135 she looks to big even at 145, shes a weight bully. anyways theres no way Shevchencko is better then rousey overall, Shevchencko is good but shes such a point fighter to the point if you dont lead she will just stand there and wait for you, really boring and weak.. she got mounted by Sara Kaufman, Sara Kaufman! LOLOLOL even Nunes wouldn't let that happen, If Shevchencko won the first fight Vs Nunes she would've beaten Miesha Tate I believe and then I feel Ronda woulve got a first round armbar, crazy how things turn out.. still such a shame ronda never came back, I know for a fact she would shut up all these "her divisions out grown her" bs. shed run through the entire division minus Nunes and 3-4 others, the rest including Juliana Pena shed smoke, these girls grapple like pussies you cant be sloppy like that when your facing Rousey she can pretty much hit armbars from any side, angle or position, not a "one trick pony" a expert in grappling and armbars and I honestly pray she returns even though I know she never will :(
@@wwe2kuploads_84 You are using ABC logic bud. Saying "This person beat them so they are better" Don't mean nothing. (Look at the Ali, Frazier, Foreman situation. Or even in MMA with Liddell, Ortiz, and Couture) Exactly you keep mentioning things in 1 discipline in the category of "Mixed Martial Arts" that is being a 1 trick pony. Royce Gracie had a 90 minute war with Sakuraba. He is a legend in the sport. He is still a 1 trick pony too. (Doesn't matter how much you like somebody that is a fact) So when people are saying "The best MIXED martial artist" I'm going off of somebodies skillset, how they applied it in their career, how did that skillset improve/worsen. (GSP is a good example of somebody who kept evolving and how they applied their skills) I don't care about a fighters record. (lately for some reason fighters and fans have been going "Double digit losses" like that means anything.) Hendo is a legend has held too belts at the same time before McGreggor, And his record is trash compared to people who haven't accomplished anything. Rousey was a 1 trick pony who had a very good trick. However I'm not going to act like she is the Micheal Jordan of Womens MMA when she is terrible in every area that she wasn't raised doing. (GSP became 1 of the best wrestlers in the sport and only started wrestling because he was in the sport.) Did Rousey do some bad ass stuff? Yep. Did she make some accomplishments? Yep. Would I say she is one of the best female MIXED martial artists... no. If you want to talk accomplishments she blows most people in female sports of any kind out the water. But if you want to talk about skillset then I would disagree. Especially when she was running from Cyborg for years. (too be fair she has said multiple times how she looks up to Gina Carano so I have a feeling she said "That steroid crap aint happening to me." Can't blame her. That could be life Changing like Bisping and his eye.)
I freaking think Gina Carano is the most beautiful woman physically and on the inside. She has a good heart, you can tell she is a genuinely good person. I would marry her in a second! On the plus side she's Italian American as am I.
You cannot leave out Rhonda just because she was such a B. She had some horrendous guidance. She was surrounded by a bunch of yes men. If they would have continued to develop Rhonda as a MMArtist instead of all the boxing bs, she would destroyed Holly and Amanda.
This last year I’ve found myself drawn more & more to the “Weighing In” channel. It’s GREAT hearing Big John’s point of views and the other types of info he has to offer!! 👍🏼

Mighty Mouse accepting a trade to One FC was a prime example of the UFC not paying its stars. That's like wanting a trade from the Yankees to the Yomiuri Giants.
Gina has really bad take down defense. That fight would favor Ronda and that is why Dana wanted that fight but not the Cyborg fight for Ronda. Gina has great striking but she doesn't have the wiser and take down defense that Holly Holm does. Gina's very similar to Megan Anderson.
Dana White gave my grandma and family 2nd row seats because he didn't want her walking up to the seats we'd been given. $2000 per seat, 5 seats. Thanks Dana.
Not sure why people don't understand assholes can do nice things for a lot of people. It's really how they treat people behind closed doors or in relationships, not simple random acts of kindness they often use to convince themselves they are good people.
The seats were obviously empty, what you think he chased people out for you lmao You’re just starstruck like the 18 year old girl backstage at the concert😂😂
Lots of valid points being brought up here by The Punk. The mixed martial artists out there grinding away are prize fighters. They fight for money. So they will go wherever they will get the most pay or where they will get the biggest prize with the people they can deal with. Now my theory as to why fighters just say know your worth all the time is because they parrot what Conor has said. They also don’t have as much exposure or popularity as The Punk. Tbh I just wish fighters could unionize and collectively bargain the revenue share and some form of retirement fund.
Mike Tyson said he believes UFC fighters are very underpaid not that alone MMA fighters are very underpaid he believes they should be making the same as boxers and I agree there's far more satisfaction watching the MMA fight you know has a greater chance of being spectacular then a boxing match and there's nothing more authentic than a knockout which sometimes in boxing seems very questionable
The Prolific Network most boxer and their MMA counterparts actually get paid the same. it’s the very top tier fighters get paid different boxers make millions ufc fighters make six figures
I do agree fighters leave because of money or how they are being treated not necessarily because they couldn’t cut it. But the ufc (and Dana) did give them a bigger platform so they can earn more money and have better opportunities. In my opinion I think the ufc does an amazing job at promoting their fighters and giving them a bigger name.
Not no more, jon jones, masvidal, both asking to be released. Henry the triple C retired because of pay. Change may come if all fighters stick togeather.
i have to say i freaking love josh thomson. he's one of the coolest, most reflective, introspective dudes i've listened to. you can tell he thinks much more than he speaks, which so few people do these days, and i respect that.
Cowboy only got 200k to fight Conor, and no PPV points. No way cowboy has another 60 years left. Cowboy is a guy that is bound to die doing something crazy and fun.
So you’re saying Cowboy did the work and then got paid....? Yeah...that’s how it works in most businesses. Cowboy has had some ups and downs so his draw has been up and down. I’m glad that he gets this fight and I’m glad that he gets the payday. But that’s how it works for 99.9% of the world. You put in work and you get it on the backend. Anyone looking for a quick payday will get that and that’s about it.
I Give Dana all the props for making the sport grow. He deserves $ for that, but the TV$ and PPV$ have to provide a significant profit. Thus the 4 billion $ price tag. At some point, the fighters have to get paid something closer to football, baseball or even tennis.
The average NFL career is 3.3 years. Average career for UFC or Bellator is probably less than 2 years. Non of these fighters or players with average career lengths are set for life when they leave their sport. The money made MAYBE gives than a head start financially and they have an interesting life experience.
You can't please everyone in life nor can you like or get along with everyone. In Dana White's case, it does not take a genius to understand some fighters having issues with their business promotor.
Dana is a control freak. And when he can’t control things he makes things hell for those people. The list is very long, even Stitch, the best cutman in the business Dana won’t let him be a cutman for the UFC anymore. Every fighter who ever tried to stick up for themselves he has turned on
It appears to me that Dana can be challenging and difficult to deal with. You have to be very shrewd in the UFC in dealing with your contract. Fighters need to create a union to address fighter pay and health insurance, or the lack there of.
Gina never would have made 135lbs. She had a hard time making 145lbs for the cyborg fight. Unless they were gonna do it at a catch weight or 145lbs. But Ronda wouldn’t fight cyborg at 145lbs. I don’t know how they would have done Gina vs Ronda.
Why? Because this who Dana is among many other things. He knows Gina is popular and have really become popular outside of MMA. He wants to capitalize on that now in the ring. She doesn't seem to want to go back, and doesn't have to. He is upset because he isn't having it his way.
Neither White or Rogan called Cyborg a man while she was signed with the UFC. Cyborg is the one who edited a video of Dana and added false subtitles to make him look bad. Cyborg got knocked out, didn't want the rematch, and started bringing up comments from 4-5 years ago so she had an excuse for why she left the UFC. Here's the thing, Cyborg signed with the UFC after those comments were made; that in and of itself would've informed everyone that those comments are a non-issue, but Cyborg herself already said that they were a non-issue. Not only is what Cyborg did against undersized women unforgivable (abusing steroids), but even worse is she created a situation where I'm defending Dana White of all people. The other fighters leaving for better pay/treatment I completely agree with though, but Cyborg is the exception.
Any conversation about fighter pay that doesn’t include event revenue AND Dana’s pay does the fighter pay argument a disservice. Like @ 11:17 it’s actually disappointing to see him struggle to justify pay by the length of career instead of WHAT % WAS IT OF WHAT THEY GENERATED.
Tony Fergusson the type of guy to iminari roll to get inside Dana’s boxing, then take him down and rely on his superior cardio to decision Dana in 5 rounds.
"You have to live of the money what you made". Reebok sponsorship is the worst, not only the fitghters get paid less but it makes the sport dirty because the fighters can cheat without the risk of lose sponsorship.
@@user-sl1tg3eb9q irrelevant comment with nothing on it. I never said im a ufc fighter, but i can still argue and put my own input and opinions. Your comment is weak, fuck out of here you wanker
Yet Dana claims that he's been paying Liddell not to fight until Golden Boy Promotions hosted that shit show. I find it hard to believe that Liddell would rather tarnish his legacy for a pay check than sit at home and get free money.
listen dana is what people say he is but the main reason shes in bellator is beavuse ufc let her go because of that video she made and lied what dana said
It's sad to see Josh act like this towards the ufc, he blames Dana for him being sorry when he got here. It's funny that all the fighters he said left for more money are also the same fighters that lost every title shot given to them, so yes its expected that they would look for easier fights.
The fighters that leave the UFC for Belator for more money, its because they are worth more in Belator than the UFC. Usually the middle of the pack guys. Sergio Pettis and company.
I understand Josh. Dana White and his ego / personality have caused alot of harm to the UFC and the fighters. And nobody talks about all the negative influence he has.
Cowboy didn't get any PPV money from fighting Conor either. That came outta his mouth. Trust me, Cowboy is well off. His ol lady is a doctor and he is a fighter, dudes got cash for sure!
I would’ve love to see Gina beat the shit out of Crying Rousy but she did the right thing standing up for herself and she really didn’t need the fight. Moreover fighters should be free agents. Not being tied to a contract to a company. Just fight contracts with any organization period.
Thats very dumb. What if Dana offers you $100k a fight. You test free agency and everyone else offers you $50k. YOu think Dana is still gonna have that offer on the table? Unless you are a big name you can bet he's gonna tell you to fuck right off. Now you've lost a grip of money just to "test the waters" UFC doesnt NEED anybody. They do such a great job of building stars if you leave, someone else will take it.
@@JanoyCresva HAHAHHA. You're so stupid to think Dana would ever offer a fighter 100k a fight. Never would happen to a newcomer either way. You had a horrible example

regular labour workers can graft until they're 70 years old. sure its not easy grinding everyday just to stay afloat but mma careers dont last long and they come out with brain damage most of the time so they should be paid well imo. End of story.
Donald cerrone didn't care what he was being paid..he loves to fight. He signed his own contract as do all fighters...it's up to u and your manager to get what your worth. So he makes as much as a doctor? So if a fighter blows all his money and doesn't save for when they are done fighting, it's the UFCs fault? Fighters will keep making more and more in the UFC, it's still a growing sport...look how much they make now compared to 15-20 years ago

(I would have really loved to see that Zigano fight if she didn't try bulldozing her and getting caught though.)
Or even in MMA with Liddell, Ortiz, and Couture)
Exactly you keep mentioning things in 1 discipline in the category of "Mixed Martial Arts" that is being a 1 trick pony.
(GSP is a good example of somebody who kept evolving and how they applied their skills)
I don't care about a fighters record.
(GSP became 1 of the best wrestlers in the sport and only started wrestling because he was in the sport.)
Did Rousey do some bad ass stuff?

Gina would have derailed that Rhonda hype train quick imo
Gina has really bad take down defense. That fight would favor Ronda and that is why Dana wanted that fight but not the Cyborg fight for Ronda. Gina has great striking but she doesn't have the wiser and take down defense that Holly Holm does. Gina's very similar to Megan Anderson.

Great show. Your insights from first hand experience is what makes your show awesome.
Your last sentence is waht truly needs to happen
Mike Tyson said he believes UFC fighters are very underpaid not that alone MMA fighters are very underpaid he believes they should be making the same as boxers and I agree there's far more satisfaction watching the MMA fight you know has a greater chance of being spectacular then a boxing match and there's nothing more authentic than a knockout which sometimes in boxing seems very questionable
The Prolific Network most boxer and their MMA counterparts actually get paid the same. it’s the very top tier fighters get paid different boxers make millions ufc fighters make six figures

In my opinion I think the ufc does an amazing job at promoting their fighters and giving them a bigger name.
Not no more, jon jones, masvidal, both asking to be released. Henry the triple C retired because of pay. Change may come if all fighters stick togeather.

I Give Dana all the props for making the sport grow. He deserves $ for that, but the TV$ and PPV$ have to provide a significant profit. Thus the 4 billion $ price tag. At some point, the fighters have to get paid something closer to football, baseball or even tennis.
Damn, so that’s why they keep giving BJ penn fights... retaliation for leaving as champ in his prime.
Cowboys grandma is a millionaire shhhhh
So unbelievable to me, how Much one could be so sensitive yet Still have been a great fighter
Cyborg is so humble all the mean things they to her..say it to my face
Stfu
Tony Fergusson the type of guy to iminari roll to get inside Dana’s boxing, then take him down and rely on his superior cardio to decision Dana in 5 rounds.
"You have to live of the money what you made". Reebok sponsorship is the worst, not only the fitghters get paid less but it makes the sport dirty because the fighters can cheat without the risk of lose sponsorship.

That's just simply not always true. You used Chuck Liddell as an example, but Dana paid him half a mil a year +, for years after he retired...
Don't you think UFC fighters have better opportunity to make money post fight career just because they get more publicity during there career
Abuse..what abuse? Did she think she was gonna turn invisible while walking into the octagon?
The fighters that leave the UFC for Belator for more money, its because they are worth more in Belator than the UFC. Usually the middle of the pack guys. Sergio Pettis and company.
do fighters have to pay for their camp (trainers, travel, etc.) out of their fight payout or do they get an allowance for that?
They pay their own people out of pocket. UFC doesn't pay these trainers and camps.
