  • The EPS-16 Plus does not have a resonance function in the filter section. By loading the Waveboy Rez Filter Disk you will have a Filter with Resonance as a bank or instrument effect.

    I was using the rez filter this weekend. It sounds so very good, meaty and smooth like a beef milkshake. I love that it is polyphonic too.

    Wow what a great feature this adds to the sampler. Thanks for the demo.

    Damn the song is soooo wow! That can be a hit at this day with that Trap type of drums and 808 bass

    Thanks Robin, sounds great.
    This sampler is all over the 2020 album RTJ4 from Run The Jewels.

      But…did they use the Waveboy fx??
      (Not that the EPS16 stock FX aren’t already some of the best Reverbs in my studio 🙄).

      @@mthomas1091 I wish to know too :)
      If I had to guess I'd say no.

    Killer beat. The Waveboy filter is one the best-sounding resonant filters on any sampler, ever. It still baffles me why, if the EPS-16 and ASR-10 hardware was capable of having resonant filters, ENSONIQ did not buy this from Waveboy (or code their own) and include it in the O.S. for either the EPS-16 or the ASR-10. ENSONIQ lost an untold number of sales throughout the 90's because of the lack of resonance on its filters. Rez filters were vital in the production of 90's Dance Music. Jungle & Drum 'N' Bass were blowing up globally in 1994, the year the ASR was released, and resonant filters were crucial tools needed for their production - notably the "chopped and skrewed," proto-IDM breakbeat deconstructions found on countless Jungle records from 1994/1995.

      Ensoniq ASR-X Pro has a resonant filter. The red one

      And "chopped and skrewed" is from hip hop not techno

    Thank you for all these EPS16+ vids! I keep wondering....is there only the 1 “mod source” parameter that can be assigned? (I keep wondering that for most EPS16 FX....& I do have the Waveboy discs).
    I’d love to be able to map more parameters to midi controllers.

    That's awesome!!! Is there any chance you might demonstrate The Voder, as well?

      Mo' Cheez Hmm...I try to like The Voder but so far I have just not found it very functional. I will look into it some more though.

    • @MoCheez

      That would be neat. I'm still trying to get it working but I think I have a corrupt version...

      I always wanted that voder. I'm sure it was put to good use on old dance track

      Mo' Cheez there are some eps 16+ where certain waveboy algorithms won’t work properly... I definitely remember this problem existing for the soniq demolition disk. I’m almost sure the voder is kinda faulty with the eps too. They all work for the asr 10 (except the audio in disk because the asr has no use for it; the time dicer was also included on the parallel effects disk instead).

      Ann Other Timbaland used it a lot on ginuwine’s first album (pony, etc). Daft punk also used the voder sounds of some of their early work before they began ACTUAL vocoding.

    Hey Robin, do you have this song as an audio file? Would like to put it up as intro in an dj set .. really like it :) 👍🏼✌🏼

    Is this adaptable to the Ensoniq-SD1? How is this done, does the code change behavior of the DSP?

    • @RoshiAi
      @RoshiAi  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MasterSeth Hi MasterSeth. The Waveboy Effect are third party effects for the EPS-16 Plus and ASR-10. The algorithms are loaded into the effects unit of the sampler.

    • @SE-144

      Are the API's available for Ensoniq's various DSP's. Is this something I can start to hack on myself? I can only assume that (naive I know) that Ensoniq used some core source(functionality) - for DP4, SD1, etc.. I'm assuming a whole lot here. How did you even do this??

    • @RoshiAi
      @RoshiAi  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      How I did this? I bought the floppy disks with the effects. There's a whole bunch of them: Compressor, Audio In, Time Stretching, Sonic Demolition, The Voder.
      I don't think these are adaptable to the SD. I am not saying it can't be done.
      If you are interested to know why don't you come over to the Ensoniq Users Group on Facebook?! We have some very knowledgeable people there who are into reverse engineering of Ensoniq as well. They can tell you why or why not.

    Smth i need to try in my eps16+

    • @RoshiAi
      @RoshiAi  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, Vladimir, do it! :D
      For this demo I sampled some synth sounds, made the drum track and sampled it. Then I made the track and sampled that and put it through the Rez Filter.

      sounds great! thank you for showing us your skills. VOder and other fx would be also great to see!
