- Actress Patty Duke, who won a best supporting actress Oscar at age 16 for her portrayal of Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker" has died at age 69, her family announced Tuesday in Los Angeles. "This morning, our beloved wife, mother, matriarch and the exquisite humanitarian and champion of mental health, Anna Patty Duke, closed her eyes, quieted her pain ascended to a beautiful place," read a statement from her family. She died from sepsis resulting from a ruptured intestine, her managers said. #InsideEdition

I met her at a seminar for mental illness. At that time she confided to me she was suffering from diverticulitis.
She had the most beautiful blue eyes, and perfectly shaped lips. She was so kind, and patient. OH, and so strong-willed, was Anna. She is greatly missed.

Condolences to her sons & granddaughters. I knew of her mental illness about 15 years ago when I took a friend in to get help. We watched a film made by Patty about Her mental illness story. What I remember Patty saying was... When she went in... She was not alone for that condition.. She thought she was alone. She said she was surprised that "IT...IT has a name!!!" She was far from alone.. lots of people have IT.
Seeing some one so sweet and successful as her gave relief and hope to a lot of people with "IT" Respectful Kisses to you Patty. Your fans Love you and I'm sure your true family much more.
