My grandfather was stolen from his mother, the daughter of a community in the Odawa nation, Canada. The other side of my family is straight Irish from Cork. My family doesn't talk about the native stuff (and not because of the Irish part of the family). I am 1/4 Odawa and 3/4 Irish by birth. The Irish side is venerated. The First Nations part is hushed. We've lost a lot as a family that way. Because of colonialism. Because of shame. Because of the everlasting motherfucking struggle that is being indigenous in a colony. An old Nehiyaw here... getting good vibes. Old traditionalists will say that this is not right. Well I am an old traditionalist and I say that we cannot remain static. We recreate ourselves in our own image, which is today and tomorrow someone else will take our culture and music to another level. Be the one to make that change and live long and pow wow.

You can always do ancestry or a similar service idk all the science of it but they were able to identify 2% African and 4% native in my wife’s mostly Northern European Irish and Scandinavian heritage. That’s also how she found out that her dad isn’t her real dad. Plot twist his uncle is her dad. Me I have no native background but I love the culture and still totally resonate with this as would many people who have gotten tired of the hamster wheel of a society we’ve built
Snow Raven says, "we are all indigenous to Mother Earth." Whatever our backgrounds, there is a deep resonance with native culture. It's who we all are, it's just unrecognised. My mother's ancestors were Norwegian Viking. I had an almost magnetic attraction for that country long before I knew the ancestral connection. I believe if we are to save our planet, we need to listen to the oldest cultures that knew how to respect the earth.
Wonderful video. Thank you. I love seeing how much he lights up and flourishes when he can shed the other culture and display the connection to his own.

O they will
@@chrstnanomee7494 yes you can feel it in your chest strongly. So beautiful I love it.
If you haven't lost inner child , powwow is powerful. Medicine, washte.....
Gratitude to all of those at the pow wow that allowed this to be recorded and shared with the larger world outside of The People. Thank you.
Shoutout to the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nations for letting me live on your land and kayak on your rivers; the same river you see at 1:00. I genuinely appreciate it
40 years on the planet and I'm embracing my heritage for my kids
An old Nehiyaw here... getting good vibes. Old traditionalists will say that this is not right. Well I am an old traditionalist and I say that we cannot remain static. We recreate ourselves in our own image, which is today and tomorrow someone else will take our culture and music to another level. Be the one to make that change and live long and pow wow.
Renewal > Stagnation. Thank you for stating this.
This was viscerally beautiful. The drumbeat and the voices, it felt like it changed the beat of my heart.
The drum for the heart and pulsing blood, the chorus for the brain and the nervous system.
I am right with you...peace and love.
As a native business major I felt this music video in my soul
Lol wtf is even that😅😅😅🤣😂
You know it's getting real at a powwow when the drummers cup their ears and hold there throats. am I right? 😏
I have found this genre as of recent, and I must say Native American culture is some of the most beautiful and thought provoking. I have nothing but admiration and such profound respect for all. Please keep doing what you're doing and finding a way to reach others through your music so they too can see how amazing and rich it all is. Thanks for the vibes.

Super happy that our crazy european forefathers did NOT kill all of them. What a loss that would have been :(
Wholesome comment. I too get the vibes to this song. Come back to this video every 3 months or so.

Love the music, Six Nations should be proud.

My best friend as a child was Blackfoot, her father was one of the men who drummed and sang at Pow Wows. I used to go with them all the time, these times are among my best memories and I still have a deep love for the music and dancing.
I just paused this at 2:22. This is so fucking beautiful. You can see how beautiful he becomes as his spirit goes towards what he is truly meant for. Damn yo. This is the world we're supposed to live in.
Everyone should be allowed to dance the song in their hearts.
It is such a powerful image. We must collectively do all we can to preserve this culture. THIS is the true face of the Americas.
@@aprilhamlincoln True!
I listen to round dance music and other native singers every day, since my foster parents didnt care for my native heritage so I wasn't allowed but now it's all I want to listen to and honestly it's very calming for me
Look into Ghost Dance.
That sucks that your foster parents denied you the right to understand and learn from the wisdom of your ancestors and heritage. ;-( But I'm glad that you have the agency and autonomy now to do so. Much peace and light to you friend.
Ugh, f*cking posers
That's awful what kind of people are they. Everyone who is Native American should be proud 💪🏽
@@carlalewis3645 They are people who are trying to turn a native boy into a white boy. They think they are helping him, and dont realize the harm they cause native children. I absolutely think giving a native child to a white couple is all kind of wrong. It just shouldnt happen.
✨✨💖✨✨🦅 I am very white Irish born and raised here in the south Georgia and I love and respect the hell out of my Native American brothers and sisters of Turtle Island 👊🏻, My partner of nearly 10 years was half blood Quapaw Sioux, inducted into her tribe at 16. She died of cancer about a year and a half ago. Every since I was a child I have loved and respected Native Americans so much, they are in my soul. I would die to defend them. I love you all. The Earth is in alot of trouble and needs so much help right now, the water, the oceans, land, animals are suffering too much 😢🌍 I love this planet. I want Mother Earth healed. No fossil fuels, we need free energy technologies, no slaughter houses and animal testing and abuse, no abusing sea life and poisoning water. No racism, bigotry, Ego, religious dogma, masogyny, xenophobia.. all of this insanity has to die out and come to an end. As Red Crow Westerman said.. It is getting close to renewal time.. Mother is reacting.. People have to come together to save this Earth, Love is the meaning of life......
this is a real killer track. Im loving the sound of the Northern Cree singers. its nice they share their culture and sound so we can all enjoy. thank you.
Dan Kruse oe
yep I sure do want to go to the white bear
It is a northern cree song 'young and free'
@@hiltonklymok7356 as much as I like this, my favorite northern cree song would have to be "smilin"
"WHO IS AMERICA" brought me here. I love that Show and this Song. I recommend people to watch that Show .
Northen Cree ROCK! Those feathers are awe inspiring!! Oh and the songs are amazing.
This Texan is PROUD of ya'll. This was truly awesome! Well done DJ Shub!
Excellent. Period. And don't we all need to escape? This says a lot by showing it, how to get centered again and grounded.
Its not escaping for us its a peace of mind
Ijnnn. Kknjk&.&.
Robert Whitstone grounding and centering is a euro-pagan term for basically the same thing 🤷♀️
Lol it’s not about escape from the city and work, it’s about reclaiming a culture that was destroyed and absorbed by white colonists.
I believe on never forgetting where we come from so the next generation has the knowledge to know where the belong and where thei go.
I love the contrast: him working in an office, maybe as a lawyer or an architect and then he goes to a traditional powwow wearing his regalia. Awesome video.
This song and video helped my nephew calm down and focus , he's autistic he and I enjoy this and many others I have found !! Sweet beat
For all of my indigenous People: sending you lots of love, light this long winter ❄️
I'm a chef and this song gets me going in the morning. Thank you to everyone that made this song you make my morning
I met the guy at humber collage i love what he does with our culture and he's very talented and super nice and props to the dancer
This video is moving. It’s hard for me to listen to powwow music without getting emotional. Sounds can carry so much truth and energy
the editing around 3:38 with the drums hitting on beat is so satisfying to watch, love this song
Played this for my Indigenous students and they lit up immediately. “This is like pow wow music mixed with hip hop!” The 7 year olds get it.
Such joyous music, from an old Russian in the PNW Canada, much respect.
@Sinkpehna RossFire Always loved our Buffy, and I actually like her newer stuff better, as well as some of her collaborations, she is a fantastic musician/poet and an awesome human being. I like Black Lodge, not so familiar with The Boyz or Eyabay, but thanks for the suggestions, I'll get around to checking them all out. Music for humans being human!
Magic happens at 1:51, there he is, the man, myth and legend, SHUB!!!!!!!!
I love this song, I listen to it so often, makes me feel proud of my heritage.
Your heritage is something to be proud of. With all the true Americans have endured and are still is a testament to the truth and resilience of the first peoples. May all of us embrace the culture that sees the full circle ❤
I am Mètis, and don't want to lose my culture in a forever globalizing world. Thank you guys for creating new age, aboriginal music that we can share with our children. I have been listening to you guys a lot lately!! Sending love from Calgary, AB miigwetch 💖
Learned about this man in a University class and was lucky enough to see him in Kamloops! So good! We love our Indigenous people.
I love Northern Cree 💛💛 hearing them sing always puts a smile on my face 🤗
Just found your music. You have awakened my spirit. My dog looked at me strange when I started dancing like my elders taught me.
I'm STILL listening to this, and especially in the spring it gives me goosebumps. The anticipation, the greeting, suiting up, all of it. The energies whooa
I'm from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷.... we have indígena Tainos in our blood ... we love ❤️ your videos we get connected...love it wonderful...thank you very much.... we are living in Tampa FL ... blessings 🙌 🙌
I have a few partial native American ancestors and only makes me about 1/8 native American or so but every time I hear tribal drums like this it feels like the music calls to me. I can't be the only one to feel their heritage pulling at them. Love this.
I play this everytime I need motivation to get cleaning ... It gets my bones moving, thank you for this
EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS I GET CHILLS FROM THE TOP OF MY HEAD, INTO MY HEART MAKING IT POUND, THEN CHILLS KEEP GOING TO MY ARMS, MY LEGS INTO MY TOES & I HAVE TO DANCE!! THANK YOU!! LOVE TO ALL!!
Blessing you ALL! These videos have gotten me though a very hard time.
YOU LIFT MY HEART
Not gonna lie, I see the Konoha symbol and I get this sense of unity, hope and perseverance. Thank you for sharing this. For some reason, it brought me joy and pride. I'm in tears. Thank you (I am Guatemalan American. I do not look Latin enough. I do not look American enough. But I am human. Idk why but this made me happy)
Major respect to EVERYONE in this video it's beautiful...ty for sharing this with us that don't know. Much respect for the Regalia and People who represented their Ancestors and Traditions..!!!!
I am a light skinned RED woman and i love MY FAMILY .... WE are all NATIVE
I don't know for sure if I'm Native, (the ones that would know are no longer here) but this music speaks to my soul & the feelings it brings are indescribable
Thank you. I love seeing how much he lights up and flourishes when he can shed the other culture and display the connection to his own.
sorry, 😲😧

This is insane!! I'm Canadian Irish-Algonquin and have never heard Cree music before. Mind blown. I know this an electronic take but still lol
This is what we in the West have lost so long ago and need to reclaim via examples like these of the Cree nation. Their collective trance is strong and vibrant life giving. Gratitude to you DJShub for this Third Eye Opening Art work.
Does it feel insanely powerful to dance like that? I imagine it would be quite the head rush!
I simply love this. The beat, the culture, the colors....awesome!
What is this about like the whole video
Being white, I really enjoyed the Native American music, it's so unique and different, sometimes I feel like I'm fighting my demons from hurting me.

(Also, SYMBOLISM!!!)
@@averongodoffire8098 More absurd traditions are the luciferian ones of candle-lighting (LVCIFER means light-bearer) and wish-granting in birthdays, and the murdering of an innocent creature (piñata). The children feast on its blood (candy). Women with red lip-stick is symbolic of blood-sucking (gold diggers taking opportunistically). High heels represent goat legs (with goats being a symbol of the wicked). Don't even get me started on Mecca.
It was the konohagakure call out in the headdress that drew me in and I was not disappointed 🦊 🍜
Seriously tho, this song/video, once they were able to get out of the mundane and get into dance, that feeling of joy you get from pure expression came through so beautifully ❤
Konahagakure? Naruto?
Aye me too!! I saw the hidden leaf village symbol and rushed to the comments to see who commented on it 🤣💜 I literally love Naruto sooo much, it was life changing for me.
Come for the weeb
Stay for the music
I absolutely love this. Not just for the perfect fusion vibe, but also for showing that despite everything, these peoples in this part of the human race are still standing and are keeping their culture alive. More power and peace to you all! Had to sub of course, happy to continue my education.

I honestly cried through watching the video:') so beautiful, so touching, would love to go to a pow wow again someday❤❤🌱 hopefully soon🌿
It's unfortunate how underrated these sorts of things are. I mean, look at their dancing!! It's so mesmerizing, and surely took much practice. The performance wear is so complicated and so beautiful, too! And then also combining traditional songs with EDM? It actually works so well!! Honestly, this is so cool and deserves more attention!!

My grandmother did alot of work in different Native American communities for years from midwest to Alaska. She was invited to many pow wows and did several sweat lodges. She was a strong woman who taught me many things about myself. But im most proud of how respected she was in those communities and how accepted she was by the people. I love you nanny i miss you every day thank you for your kindness and your spirit
