    The 80s was such an immensely creative time, and this show was edgy, innovative, and would never make it on the air today. Everything is beyond polished, and rehearsed now. The hosts were clever, spontaneous, and passionate about MUSIC!

      @Snwman_ ปีที่แล้ว +4

      These were talented musicians. There was so much great music from different genres during the late seventies and eighties. So many great venues, affordable gigs, free festivals! - before the corporates got involved. The Tube was a great show to start the weekend. Also, New Good Dream is one of my favourite albums. Regards from Kent.

    thanks for posting this! I remember auditioning to be a dancer for the tube at Tiffanies night club. We got free passes to the studio every Friday as long as we danced our asses off to liven up the crowd.

    I am from Australia and have never seen the TUBE before. I have been watching a few episodes on YT and i love the ones from the 80s, Paula Yates cracks me up. I love her little snide comments such as the one with Bananarama. She is talking to them and they keep giggling and Paula says " It seems like you are drinking again" LOL. We only really know of Paula because of the whole Michael Hutchence/Bob Geldof thing. I didnt even realise it was her either till i got up to the 2nd episode of the show.

      Aussie here too, I was only vaguely aware of this show but of course we never got it in Australia. Paula Yates hosted Tonight Live With Steve Vizard for one week in the early '90s and was absolutely brilliant. It was a tragedy when she died as she was an incredible talent. I have a feeling this is the show The Young Ones were targeting in their first episode, where Rik is watching a TV show called "Nosin' Around" which strongly resembles aspects of what they are doing here, and then kicks in the TV because it isn't "anarchic" enough.

      @@MartinHiggins1972it was the kind of pretention that was the brattish younger sibling of ambition. From my teenaged memories of the times, there was an urgency to outdo whatever had happened just before, as well as a desire to bury the stale, lingering remnants of the 1970s. This, and the fact that many pop stars of the time were well read and had some working knowledge of other artforms.
