Candela Obscura is the new horror/mystery TTRPG released by Critical Role's Darrington Press. This guide is for absolute beginners so they can gain a basic understanding of the system. Candela Obscura is not fully released yet.

I CANNOT stress this enough that Candela Obscura isn’t in a finished state yet. Some parts of this quick guide are *rough*. I challenge you to look at the Slink in the pregen sheets and find the strange oversight Darrington Press made. The first time I saw it, I laughed out loud.
Okay, I give up. Ive been looking at the sheet for 20 minutes and I can't find anything.
Nine action points, nine maximum drive, two gilded actions, and the resistances are set up correctly.
Is it the fact that they said "Intuition" instead of "Intuition Drive"? Because that happens in almost all of the sheets

Wait, is it that they only said "you may ask a question", and didn't specify that you can ask *the GM* a question?
@@peceman9889 Close! The Slink asks you to spend 1 drive from your Intuition however, when you start with the character, your max Intuition drive is zero. I found it very funny that you cannot use your starting ability Scout when you begin the game.
@@enterthedungeonit’s not a mistake, your team can help you by spending their drive points. The slink has a gilded die there so they can recoup points to spend helping their teammates in turn. Not a mistake
Thank you for the summary. It was very informative. Candela Obscura sounds like an interesting setting to play a few sessions in. However, dice pool systems tend to be better at short campaigns or one shots rather then the long campaigns I prefer. I guess we'll see how this one holds up.
I just played Daggerheart at GenCon and it uses the same system. Just the theme is different. 8/10. We only had a 4 hour one shot and it's not ideal for one shots but it's great for a campaign.
Most of the mechanics of Candela obscura remembers me of Chronicles of darkness/ world of darkness
I’ve only ever played world of darkness once and that was as a player. However I’ll take your word for it. I think it’ll be interesting trying to see all the places the team took inspiration
