    I totally get that there are different styles of riding and different types of rider for those bikes. While I do ride a harley, i'm not married to the brand. My thoughts watching this video was "he didn't even give it a chance" basically, my thoughts on your comments and reactions were that you got on with a bunch of preconceptions and looked for every opportunity to confirm them. Instead of riding the bike, and trying to enjoy what was different from your prefered style, you complained about nearly everything the bike was, or was not. It's cool to not like something for specific reasons, a more reasonable attitude would have been to get on and say to yourself, 'lets see why so many people like this type/style of bike'. Just my opinion for what little it's worth.

      Thanks for the comment , you're partly right I did have preconceptions on the Harley (I owned a sportster ) and the reason I was so pissed off that day was I had paid for the BMW GS as I was meeting up with some guys to go up in the canyons , and frankly the bike is not designed for that , if I were to ride across USA using the freeways and long straight roads then fine I would be happy with a cruiser but to be perfectly honest it was awful in every department apart from comfort , I would own a Harley or Indian if I had the space but not that model especially not in those colours , considering is worth about £20.000 here it's way overpriced for the quality you get , but I see the appeal for riders that just want to chill

      If you ever have to ride on gravel road for any serious amount of time, try the Indian Chief, those big fat tires really help. Heck, I would recommend trying one anyways, just for the experience. Just remember that the original design is from a time in history, when not all roads were paved - Once you realize what it was made for, it makes a helluva lot more sense.

    I've owned my Electra Glide for nearly six years now, and agree with almost everything you said, but it does grow on you. If I want to go cross country today, I get the Wing out, if I want to go out for a fun afternoon, just for a pleasant ride, I'll get the Glide out. It never fails to raise a smile.

    I had a good laugh at the cultural difference between you and me (I am Canadian with experience riding here in beautiful British Columbia, all of the western Canadian provinces and American states and Europe). At 10:30 when you are describing the windscreen, you were taking a breath thinking how to describe the size of it and the lack of air movement. While you were thinking, in my head I came up with 'barn door' when you came up with 'riot shield'. I also have never ridden a Harley, not even out of curiosity. I've heard about your channel from other UK vloggers and am glad to have found it.

    All that engine heat and that big "Bat Wing"-windscreen is actually quite nice up here in the north of Europe (i.e: Scandinavia).
    Our summers in about one hour long; and it usually raining during that hour, so...
    One mote thing. A Harley comes neutered from the factory. It needs to breathe. A new exhaust system and a more open air-filter is not an option, it is a must. Is on the same level of "need to have" as putting gas in the tank.
    Also a more "aggressive" cam is also recommended, if not necessary.
    Bur sure, they are slow grunting hogs. Not screaming bird of preys.

      cycloopnl I know what you mean about the soul .. if I had the money I would own some kind of cruiser but I'm in the uk so pointless as an everyday bike .. I see the charm just not for the price where I live .. as I said in the vid my style of riding is searching for those twisty roads and I also lane split over here and it's just too big

      The chronicles of mr fish I am your neighbour becouse I live in the Netherlands. Before I had my Harley I had BMW's and Honda's because I drove 40.000km a year and also through the winter but now I don't have to do that anymore and I bought this old 1996 FLH. I am not rich and a old Harley isn't that expensive mate.

    I grew up around Harleys and Harley riders so I like them. There might be bikes with smoother gear boxes and better hp to weight ratios but they are a classic style motorcycle with tons of accessories and they are relatively easy to work on. I have an electra glide standard and neutral was hard to find until you get around 2,000 miles on it. Riding a big Harley is way different from a Kawasaki ninja but you can become good with them at low speeds and in tight spaces like police motor officers. Ride like a pro is a class taught by a retired police motor officer in Florida. If you want a sport bike than get a sport bike don't be miserable on a 800 lb Harley. I have the Milwaukee 8 107 engine and have no issue with heat, but I heard that the twin cam engines ran hot.

    • @Mrfish2015

      I’ve ridden big harleys since with the Milwaukee 8 and it’s soooo much better , I think this being a rental may have made it worse

    Its not unblanaced, its just heavy. It becomes unbalanced when you let it lean to either side.

    • @Mrfish2015
      @Mrfish2015  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matt Williams I know what you mean , but with the fairing and rear box it's too heavy and not very good at low speed , would be much better without those 2 items .. as you say fine once up to speed

      @Mrfish2015  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would think so it just kept skipping from 2nd to 1st and visa versa ... i guess I'm more used to a bike with a more defined gearbox ...i did get used to it

      @brandonmurray7378 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thats right the Harley is big and heavy! I have been riding for 50 years. My first Harley a 1988 Custom Softail give me 100,000 miles of trouble free service. The second Harley got totaled in an accident. My third is an Electra Glide Ultra Classic. Its very comfortable on long trips. My bike is stage one and no problem gtting up to speed. You spent all your time whinning like a baby. Maybe the Harley you were riding was to much for you. Harley, you either love them or hate them.

    • @Mrfish2015
      @Mrfish2015  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Terrence Gray neither love or hate them , I would buy one if I have the money to have every genre of bike .. as for calling me a baby for not liking a bike, a bit judgemental

    • @terrencegray3256
      @terrencegray3256 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trying not to be judgemental. The minute you got on the Harley, you already had it in your mind you hate it. You complained through the whole video. My love for Harley started at age 14. I am now 67 and my love for Harleys is even more. My favorite sportbike is a 2000 Kawasaki Ninja ZX1100. I sold my Ninja when I turned 58. Miss the heck out of it. I dont care what kind of bike you ride, I will always give you a friendly wave and stop and lend you a hand in your time of need.

    • @Mrfish2015
      @Mrfish2015  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Terrence Gray yeah I kind of knew it wasn't for me , I was given it a substitute ride as I said in the vid it's probably more what I expect from a bike and my riding style that doesn't suit each other .. I was annoyed at the fact I was supposed to go up into the mountains for a blast but had to cancel because the bike is not up to it , it was comfortable on the move though , you seem like a decent bloke you have to understand maybe this Harley was poor because it was a rental so never looked after , I just don't really like a bike with little to no feedback from the wheels , but I get it he brands charm

    • @marka2510
      @marka2510 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Terrence, too funny, my situation is very close to yours. I started out in 1972 on a Honda 305 scrambler then a Honda CB 750 then on to a 1985 Honda Shadow. In 1988 I bought my first Harley an 883 Sportster I then bought a 1987 Softail custom , I put 85,000 trouble free miles on her. In 2000 I bought a Road King and a 2000 Suzuki Katana 600, loved them both. In 2005 I bought an Electra Glide classic and still have it today. It's been a great bike for me. A month ago a bought a brand new leftover 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 300. That bike is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I'll be turning 65 next month and love riding as much as I did when I road a Honda 50 for the first time when I was 12! Keep the shiny side up brother.

    "GEAR BOX FROM A TRACTOR" is about right. Built like a tractor too. A lot of heavy metal ...that does NOTHING! Over priced piece of crap or "piece of shit" has he put it. It's amazing how Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki have refined that V-twin bikes and made them so much better at a reasonable price. Cream and brown color? Looks about right, like the COW it is.

    Dude I love my Streetglide.
    The windshield is so you don't have to wear 19 layers of clothing.
    You need to learn to use your clutch better.

    • @Mrfish2015
      @Mrfish2015  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't need a windshield in 117 degrees , and what's wrong with the clutch ( don't say keep it in gear when I stop) 👍🏻

    • @ianstradian
      @ianstradian 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The chronicles of mr fish if your left hand is so wimpy that you can't hang onto the clutch for a short light.... sorry to hear that.
      And i don't know about BMW's clutches but you were dogging the clutch on that Streetglide bad.
      That's a hydraulic clutch on that bike you know.... it's not that hard to learn.
      And I know that you guys on the BMW's are all about the "gear" and I hear the rumbling of " Harley riders not wearing proper safety gear...."
      And I have a response to it.
      The "gear " fad, in the US, is only a decade old, I've been riding almost daily since age 11, I haven't seen American traffic change that much, so what did? A FAD came along.
      And yes Harley has a positively clunky transmission, but we love it.
      Ever look at a Harley?
      Really look....?
      The 45 degree V twin engine is not the most efficient by a long shot....
      Harley Davidson had to play catch up on technology up until recently...
      Styling of the Harley is a throw back in a lot of ways....
      This next point will be hard to grasp...
      When Harley puts out an engine, it builds almost the same engine for several years, they do the same for frames and such too, this allows its customers to be assured that parts and service on that bike will be available further that 7 years.
      ( I challenge you to remove the valve cover on your BMW and try and fit the valve cover from a bike of the same model only 2 years earlier or later, don't worry the a Japanese bikes are the same way)
      So...
      Ever think,,,,
      Really think...
      It's a American love affair with a style of bike and nothing more?
      So all your whining and bitching...
      Just made you sound like a whiny bitch.

    • @Mrfish2015
      @Mrfish2015  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What gear got to do with it ? , if you want to ride naked thats up to you .. I don't know what dogging the clutch means so a wasted insult I'm afraid
      I understand that you like the bike , not a problem
      I didn't like a motorcycle so said so , i didn't call out harley riders or insult another human being , the bike wasn't for me , and if you had read other comments i like harleys , to be truthful the biggest downside to harley ownership is narrow minded individuals like yourself .. i would have a harley and bmw in the same garage whilst riding my hondas around because i like riding but i like a bike for the purpose so would like many , i would rather spend 100 years like a "whiny bitch" than to insult another human because they didn't like a beige harley ..

I have had Honda's, Yamaha's and Harley-Davidson's. I must say this 2008 Dyna Glide Low Rider is the finest bike I have ever owned. 1 Honda, 3 Yamaha's, and 4 Harley-Davidson's over the years. The 2008 Dyna Low Rider has the 96 Cubic Inch Engine/1584 CC's, with a 6 Speed Tranny. In Candy Red Sunglo. I love this bike.

      The Harley fun ? The GS handles end of argument ... 😉

    • @customchimp5847
      @customchimp5847 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The chronicles of mr fish not quite the end of the argument. I'm not sure Harley Davidson has handling at the top of their agenda when building bikes. There are other things to aspire to. Let's face it, if we only wanted fiction over form, we wouldn't ride bikes at all. What about soul? What about character? Dare I say it, what about image? I love all sorts of bikes, but when I look at a GS, it sucks the soul out of motorcycling. I'm sure if I rode one, I would probably love it. I'm convinced they're brilliant bikes and I have nothing against those who ride them (and perhaps my earlier comments were a bit rash). But I'll never want one. I can't imagine any kid dreaming of owning a GS. They're pure engineering brilliance with no soul. I just think you've missed the point by bagging the Harley. It's not meant to be fast or handle well. It's meant to have character and soul. Anyway, rant over. Love your videos. I own a custom Harley and a grom. Live not far from you by the looks.

    Yea, not a great place to test ride a Harley. First off, California has extreme EPA restrictions, so, the stock Harley's in CA have so much baffling that it makes you feel like you are sitting on top of the sun. This will also mean the power is restricted due to the leanness and poor air flow. Hope you have better experiences in other places.

      The chronicles of mr fish,My first post wasn't an insult, it was the summary of your whole video in one short sentence. Maybe it's hard for one to hear how their own words "sound" to someone else. It was my opinion of the video, which was you complaining non stop.
