One time when he was still with the ducks, he was at a signing event and he had gotten some new pads that were a very bright orange. Like neon bright. My mom was there and told him," Your pads are very bright" Bryz just looks up, smiles and just say,"Pumpkin :)" My favorite moment of Bryz.
Most of the other players take themselves too seriously, or something, idk. It's the least stressful role on the team.. and he was making i think 7-10m/year.. pretty easy to be happy go lucky when you make enough for the average person to retire in a single year.
Poor Bryz. The first 3/4 of the video is just him being a super happy and awesome and funny guy. The last 1/4 is seeing someone who really is just struggling through a tough time with unrelenting media. I want to just give the guy a hug. I wonder if anyone has made a newer compilation of what kinda stuff he's been up to since then.
Oh, he's still around. He gets to play around and goof off doing reporter stuff for the NHL directly and hang out with a bunch of his old teammates again so he's loving it. He's definitely very much the same dude he always was. Never change Bryz. This man deserves a job for life in the sport.
I'm not judging his grammar. The whole video is dedicated to finding his best quotes. The whole reason this video exists is because he is a funny guy. Now please stop trying to act like some high and mighty prick because I accidentally wrote "form" instead of "from".
The intreview at 8:19: On October 27, 2011, following a 9-8 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, Bryzgalov commented on his own play: "I have zero confidence in myself right now," he said. He also likened himself to somebody "lost in the woods" and that "If you probably throw a ball instead of the puck, I'm not gonna stop it." However, Bryzgalov would quickly rebound by winning six of his next eight games.
@@E.Asinus The fact that he praised his teammates while criticizing his own play was what I found so awesome. He never let the team feel like they were responsible for his mistakes and failings. The first step in fixing a problem is identifying there is one. That's what he did. He knew that the link that was busted was somewhere in him. He seemingly fixed that. Without ever hurting the egos of those around him.
I was laughing for the entire video... but then it got really sad at the end. Poor Bryz, the Flyers's asshole media is what killed his confidence and possibly his career.
I know right? I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with flyers media. The Flyers and the Leafs are always getting shit-talked by their respective medias.
They kind of did the same thing to Bob. I remember when we first got him in Columbus, I was listening to an MMA radio show on sherdog and they were talking about how Bob was "god awful" He ended up with the Vezina that year. Unfortunately, that's just how Philly has always been.
+That Dude he's one of those guys who can't play in a big market. He underperformed because he got pressured, and then got pressured more. So it went until his buyout, now he's like DipiEtro.
I watched him during what I believe was his prime with the coyotes, he had his spectacular games and some incredible moments. goaltender is so much about confidence. It's unfortunate, but when he left the small market in Arizona and went to Phili (where it is apparent that the media focuses a lot on goalies and are rather harsh) it must have been like night and day. My confidence would have certainly been shook. But to say he's a bad goalie or a terrible goalie simply isn't true. he has some serious talent and left us with some great memories.
yeah, obviously we will never know for sure, but I think he would've been much better off had he stayed in Phoenix. Sean Burke was a hell of a goaltending coach too. Any way, I do believe he had lots of talent and a very memorable career. seems like a really good guy as well. I wish a had a link, there's a video of him giving a kid in winnipeg one of his sticks even while being taunted. stuff like that shows humility and I think we need more of it in pro sports.
+Chillmanits Sten You have to admit, he kinda had a point. Sports journalists are rarely professional, but especially in Philly they are the lowest of the low. In this case - vultures feeding on a bad streak of Bryz while never contributing anything meaningful. I'm pretty sure they didn't even want the team to succeed, they were happy enough with the clicks they were getting for slamming Bryz.
I literally just found this dude through a meme and recently became an ice hockey fan, but I am in love. Awesome personality, really sweet dude who loves playing! And I mean, I DESPISE the Boston Bruins, but that hatred will never compare to that of the Flyers media after this. Those guys are an embarrassment to the club, sorry Ilya, you deserved better!
I know literally shit nothing about hockey and have never watched more than maybe 10 seconds of it while channel surfing, but the first clip they have of this man told me all I needed to know about him and now for the first time in my life I have a favorite hockey player while not even being a hockey fan really 😂
