- I received the Bandai S.H. Figuarts Star Wars Rise of Skywalker Kylo Ren and Rey, and I was excited. But then the more I thought, and played, and looked, I realized it's just more of the same. Except in Rey's case, it's less than the same. Hmmm.

As someone not too eager to rush to see Rise of Skywalker, I see cool toys, I want them. Regardless on how the film is, I want them toys.
I know this is a few years old, but I rewatch this all the time. The beginning cracks me up, the Dio reference is hilarious, and the “what the hell are they doing with this figure?” DEFINITELY gets me every time. “I’m gonna let a stand outsmart me, that’s amazing.” Love it! This entire video is just full of funny Robo moments 😂

When Dio has a stand in the 80s it didn’t work out that well.
They cost high end when buying thru us distributors. Buying thru Asian retailers, they cost relatively cheaper (not including shipping options).

Ordered my figures from CDJapan. Great price but no stands! Their customer service said they did not "participate". Something lost in translation. Nice to see your reviews again.
Their website is not user friendly. I couldn't find anything.
@@jeggsonvohees2201 I had to email CDJapan about not getting the stands. My understanding was the stands were a bonus like the TLJ droids and that all shops "participated". I prefer the obitsu AC10 stands anyway; more build options and quite sturdy. But a freebie is a freebie!
I am a figuarts lover, but throughout the whole review I was thinking that the Black Series was making it difficult to justify paying the higher price. I will be giving these a miss. Thanks for the review. Love seeing you back on youtube.

The "eyyyyy" hands are for holding the helmet when you have it off and the unmasked head on, same as the TLJ SHF.
It's pretty crazy that Black Series went from being a let down line of figures to a line that can compare to SHF. Great review!
Yep. Hasbro has been killing it with Marvel Legends and the Black Series. The only reason I buy imports now is if I feel it's unlikely Hasbro will make the same figure.
This review makes me sad because we never got any Figuarts Finns, Poe, Grevious, Droidekas, etc. But somehow we're this many Kylo and Rey's deep :( lol

Hey robo, just got my kylo, love him a ton, thought I'd let you know that figuarts resculpted the Sabre hilt, and the neck of the helmeted head, also the new helmet is a bit larger than the TLJ version, looks more beastly imo

It's great Kylo comes with 3 sabers, unlit, unlit with peg, and ignited. I wish every single Jedi came equipped like this, and not like Kenobi, where they've given him the same hilt as the new hope version, even though ep III doesnt have a d ring (and on anh version it serves a practical purpose, as it hangs from the belt by that very ring - not the case in ep III though). Those minor inaccuracies drive me insane sometimes. I hope they will nail all of the empire strikes back figures. I cant wait for Lukes, mostly.

I must agree with you Robo! I’m a huge Figuarts fan, but the toned down red on Kylo’s dome and Rey’s many shortcomings make the Black Series a great option.
Hard pass on Rey... Kylo just needs some paint and a steady hand!

That Rey torso (lack of) articulation is a bit of a pain. Considering she’s like ‘Action-Girl’ I’d love some articulation for dioramas.
So you wanna tell me Rey is unnecessarily “tight” and you need to “force it in there”?

I don't know. I really like that Kylo Ren, I kinda want to get it but I have The Last Jedi version. As much as I like and really want that cloth hood and cape, I dont wanna spend $60 on the same figure to only get one thing that's added. But damn, that cloth cape and hood is really calling to me

figuarts kylo ren is too small for 1:12 scale, figuarts rey, black series rey and black series kylo ren are correct 1:12 scale, most of the time figuarts is correct 1:12 scale but they still frequently make some figures too small , black series figures are i would say almost always in the correct 1:12 scale

Rey should arrive Friday, I'm looking forward to getting the figure. I'll probably pick up Kylo soon ish. I like that he's darker and the cape seems great. I'll use my TLJ version to make a Starkiller figure, perhaps.

Silly Bandai.. they forgot to remove that; because that's inaccurate to the movie prop.
Edit: They should've just left with the floating belt like they did with TLJ Figuarts Rey; sorrynotsorry but, that figure is bad considering the hindered articulation of the engineering and quality control with the ball joints on the legs. Pretty much the articulation is useless if that's the case tbh
Don't get me wrong; the overall look is good, but the articulation functions as pretty much borderline useless for a $70 import figure.
Edit: Going back to this comment made me realize whoever designed that Rey figure doesn't know how articulation works and turned it into a brick.

My overall impression of those two figures is that they are lackluster. Totally not worth the shf name. Whie I do not like BS due to the materials used, which translate into loose and ratchety joints, I think in terms of proportions they look signifficantly better.

I have to agree with You, I'll take the Black Series versions of Both, Over these 2, All Day Long. Especially considering Bandai Reused 90% of their last Kylo too. I also Agree on Kylo's Cape, it's Odd that Figuarts has gone to Softgoods, and The Black Series has gone to Plastic, but You can get a Custom, Wired Cloth Cape for the Black Series and still spend less than the Figuarts version. The Only thing I wish Hasbro had done with the Rey, is give Her a Swappable Hood Up Option, but She does come with the Bag, that the Figuarts doesn't come with. I know Figuarts Lovers are going to say that the Black Series doesn't come with Extra Hands, but Honestly, I don't need another Baggie of Hands in the Drawer, and I'm more than Satisfied with My Black Series representations of these 2, which cost Less than One of those 2 Figuarts Versions.
