    Leyton was one of my favourite players when I was a kid, I was a tennis casual, I only really watched Wimbledon & whatever else was on terrestrial tv. He was a quality return server, was fast over the court & had some whip in his shots, was a great era of tennis the 90's to early 2000's

    Love Lleyton's forehand! So wide, smooth. Makes it look so easy (and it's not lol)

      @@15Stratos problem is his biggest asset was his movement and now he can't move well.

      @@springfield03sniper Yeah exactly!Actually atp pros can still hit very well even at 50 or more if they're fit.

    Hewitt has a stuck drive...comparing to Federer or even Nole, it's so old fashioned, like those from the 80's

      so, were you #1 too then? 🤡
      LW was youngest #1 for 20years, till Alcaraz beat that record recently.

    Hewitt still has his Yonex endorsement.

      Yonex will sponsor basically anyone tbh xD

    • @Creees
      @Creees 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have a bog presence in all of asia and in particular Australia and even more so the representative for Yonex Australia is always in Sydney where Hewitt, De Minaur, Thompson all live. Wont be long before Thompson goes to Yonex

    The way De Minaur plays he needs to get success like Hewitt in his early 20s because he looks to have a bashed up body later in his career. Hopefully not as bad as Hewitt. Hewitt can barely walk, he can still play though which is the funny thing but watching him hobble is very concerning as a gan

      Yes, let's give a former #1 tips. While we are at it, let's go back in time tell Borg his unconventional swing was wrong, and then we could go back to present day and we'll let Daniill Medvedev know his game won't make it in the ATP because it doesn't look like anyone else's. Oh, let's not forget Agassi, hitting the ball at his side instead of in front of him --- wow, we could fix so many things here. Then we can send everyone to IMG Academy to produce more brainless tennis clones and give them all Rick Macci forehands to fix guys like Nadal who are riffing on the ball too hard...................... Then again ................. We could pay attention to fact that all the names I just mentioned played a big role in evolving the game and creating excitement and inspiration. Hewitt is 5'10 ---- he can't get lower for BH returns - shoulder height for him is waist for Del Potro ------- maybe we can appreciate the creativity and resilience it took to fit in at the top level with wins, not form ---- making the most of what we have.

      @@pulledin Let us not forget that McEnroe's serve was "wrong", standing with his back to the court. And that Jimmy Connors and Chrissie Evert hit their groundstrokes to "flat" and that they'll never make it on the tour. And that Stefan Edberg's forehand looked weird (although it really did, even back then), and that Sampras' groundstrokes are too classical and flat. He'll never have success on the tour. And that Seles was not supposed to hit with two hands off both sides, and that Graf will never make it with just a slice backhand. And that Seles and Sharapova grunt to loud (although I would have loved for them to have piped down a bit). And while we're at it, we should have told Rod Laver that you can't hit heavy topspin on both forehand and backhand, with a continental grip and a heavy wooden racquet (and let McEnroe know the same).
      We must agree that every player has his o her idiosyncracies, and the true champions are the ones who win tournaments, and not those that play with orthodox technique.

      Hewitt officially retired in 2016 after AO. But he never promised stop to play doubles sometimes. Even John Mc Enroe did a mini-comeback in 2006 for doubles, and he was 47.
