DIY CNC - Expanding working area - bigger = more fun

- I had few recent projects that I couldn't use my CNC machine due to large-size pieces that needed to be cut. I had to use my table saw and tried to trim all the pieces as precisely as I could. I found that table saw is useful but not made for precision and especially not for complicated shapes.
To make my life easier, I decided to expand the working area of my machine. I only have a budget of around $200. This limited me to making only one axis larger. After debating the pros and cons, I decided on the X-axis. The working range on my X-axis was about 280cm using 50cm length aluminum extrusion bars. I bought a few 1m length bars which add 50cm more to the working range. In the end, the working area changed from 280cmx380cm to 780cmx380mm.

This is amazing, so interesting I was able to watch the whole long video with my ADD👍🏿Do you think it is possible to convert smaller CNC to 4’x8’ CNC ? Any issues on the software side?

Yes, will do, I actually use Inkscape to convert the jpg file to dxf and make the 3D model in fusion 360. You can import the dxf file directly and work from there

Great modifications indeed. This machine outpaces chinese CNC by its features. Glad to have you back Mihn! Do you plan to produce it in small series, with your friends? Could you give an idea of the total price of the CNC?
(FR) Alors l'ami, tout va bien, c'est bien ainsi. Ça fait longtemps qu'on t'attendait. Cette expansion fait de ta machine une excellente et de très bonne facture. Les coupes qu'elle arrive à faire, vers la fin de la video, sont incroyables, professionnelles. As-tu idée du prix de l'ensemble, TOUT FAIT? (le moteur et le refroidisseur compris). J'ai peu de place dans mon atelier pour une telle bête mais je t'envie de l'avoir. Le plus intéressant pour un éventuel acheteur de ta machine, serait de l'avoir en kit à monter comme les chinoises. Franchement, avec ton CNC plasma, ce sont les meilleurs éléments à posséder quand on a un projet de production sérieuse et de qualité. De très loin de ce que j'ai vu sur youtube, ton CNC est le meilleur et je déteste flatter. Heureux de te retrouver Minh. Au fait, t'as pris un peu de poids... La maman fait du très bon à manger hein? ;) Porte -toi bien avec ta famille.
Haha, oui, j'ai pris presque 5 kilos pendant un an et demi depuis le début de cette pandémie. À partir de la semaine prochaine, mes enfants vont à l'école donc j'aurai plus de temps pour aller courir et travailler.
Cette machine m'a coûte autour de $1200 en matériels (tout, y compris le spindle et refroidissement). Si je suis à refaire cette machine, je ferais un peu différemment, j'utiliserai 2 plaques d'aluminium autour de 5mm et un plaque de plywood de 12mm au milieu. Comme ça, le coûte deviendra bcp moins cher et plus facile à construire. Je pensais à faire le kit de plaques, les autres composants, les acheteurs peuvent acheter eur mêmes car le prix de poste est trop cher pour moi.
@@minhsmancave9448 $1200 comparés aux équivalents chinois d'entrée, c'est moitié prix! Je ne désespère pas de m'en fabriquer une réplique de ta machine. Le temps de trouver un atelier nettement plus grand. En plus, j'ai des idées très intéressantes d'en tirer profit... Ça inspire de regarder de bons reviews ;) Allez, reprends ton jogging l'ami! à plus!
