  • What a nice day! Cowries, cones, drupe, and moon snails, oh my! What you don't know is that, behind the scenes, my knee betrayed me for a few moments! I really needed that Stick of Destiny after all, like it was truly fated to help me that day... or maybe I just always need a Stick of Destiny? Anyway, thank you for watching!
    Let me know which ones were your favourites ;D and if you enjoyed this and want to see more shell finding videos, I'd appreciate a like or a comment. I read all of them and try to reply when I can. You have no idea how much of a smile you guys put on my face. Thanks everyone!

    G'day everyone! Wow, you're actually reading the description? Um, thank you! You will be rewarded with extra content... my Facebook page (link above) is loaded with out-takes and deleted scenes that don't make it into the TH-cam videos. Check out the extra funsies over there if you're desperate for more shelling content ;D

    I didn't even realise that Point Cartwright and the surrounding beaches had such lovely seashells until I saw "Shellcade Shelling Down Under" - I admire him a lot, and you can check out his amazing videos here:

    Good evening, Maddie
    What a great shelling day again. There were 2 first for me. The Lischles cone and the lettered mite. I really enjoy the discrepant venue, the cowrie, the cones shells, the worm cone, telescope dove shells, the black nerite, the trumpet shell, lace coral, the prickly spotted drupe, the little checkered bonnet, the bloched nerite, the burnt edge rock shell, orange mitre.The snake-heads, Deer cowrie, the operculum ( they are just so nice and thick). The Arabian was so big today. Wow. There are just so many beautiful shells today. Thank you for sharing another wonderful shelling video.
    This is our last night before my mom comes back to our house. I thought I would watch your video after me and my husband and we finally got to celebrate his birthday, our anniversary, and my birthday. Yesterday, we got to spend all day with our grandkids and daughter and son-in-law. My daughter made me a homemade carrot cake. It was amazing. Thank you again for helping me keep a smile and helping me clear my head and de-stress my days. I look forward to all your shelling adventures.
    Have a wonderful day, Maddie 😊

      G'day Toni 👋🏻💖 I'm really glad that you enjoyed this adventure as much as I did; I such a great time with this one. Sometimes, a few great shells finds can put such a spring in my step for the rest of the day. Oh, that "Lettered Mitre" is actually called a "Blood Ribbed Mitre" I got the ID wrong on that one! The yellow/white cone shells was so special too... I really wish I had've named it as a favourite as well ❤🐚 So these two firsts for you were also two firsts for me!! I'm also stoked that you liked all of the other shells and operculum, but for me, the Arabian and Deer cowries were the stand-outs for this cowrie lover 🤩
      Welcome home, I'm so pleased that you were able to return safely. It sounds like you had a wonderful time celebrating your hubbie's birthday, your birthday, and anniversary. Wow, there was a lot of big events! I bet your family was so happy to see you both as well. I know it's hard on your mom with you being away for a few days, but it had to happen. You had a very well earned rest. As always Toni, thank you so much for watching 🥰

      @SandCoffeeRocks yes it was a much needed time away. The time with my grandkids made my month. My mom will go to respite every 90 days. I was stressed after we went to get her stuff, and they left her sitting in her poo and did not give her anything we took for her or her meds. My mom is all there. I just can't stand by herself anymore. Her bum is all red again. She will not be going to that place again. We have other things in the works where she will be taken care of much better. They just need to come and assess her to see what kind of care she needs.
      I look forward to each and every shelling video you put out there. Does trudy make shelling videos as well, or just find such beautiful shells and fossils ? Thank you for helping me in so many ways. I am very grateful. Have a wonderful day, Maddie. 😊

      Oh my goodness Toni, I'm so sorry to hear that. Definitely don't take her there again; geez, such an awful environment. It's not the first time I've heard stories like this... unfortunately, Australia also has exposé sorts of things on the news about how terrible the patients in aged care homes are treated. Finding a good one seems like a tall order sometimes. All I can saw is, perhaps, look online for reviews and go from there. I know there is a lot to consider, and I really hope you get a good one for next time.
      I'm glad that I can be here to help with the videos. Trudy doesn't make videos, she actually buys most, if not all, of her collection. She really loves to collect these beautiful works of nature, and use them to decorate her home. I really wish there were more shellers to watch on TH-cam too~

Not sure if I found one of those today, but I did find a big Worm Cone; it looks the same-same, but different 😉 super cool cone shells, for sure!! Thank you so much for watching 🥰

    The cowries stole the show today! Beautiful pacific deer cowrie, arabian, and yellow tinted cowrie. Octopus drill holes make me very glad that humans do not have a radula on their tongue.

    Good day Maddie, I just love that Deer cowier. You are so blessed to live in Australia. The tiny Bonnet is so adorable. That Arabian is also adorable and big. I had a wonderful time watching your latest video. Please keep filming and I look forward to your next episode. 🥰🥰🥰🐚🐚🐚

      G’day Katherine 👋🏻💖 The Deer Cowrie is so awesome; it’s funky pattern is pretty cool too 😎 The little Checkered Bonnet was fantastic, I just love finding the really small ones of those (quite rare to find such tiny ones!) but gosh, spotting that Arabian was the best! I wonder how many people walked past it that day and just thought it was a rock 🤣 I’m so glad that you enjoyed the adventure, thank you so much for watching 🥰

    Hi Maddie. Well it certainly was a day for whopper cowries! All your favourites were my picks too. I never tire of seeing your shelling adventures, it’s so exciting to see what you will find. There did seem to be an epidemic of large tooth picks on the beach this time, good for pointing out shells or wrestling them from rock pools. 😅xxx

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day Alison 👋🏻💖 Woohoo, yes, there were some really lovely cowries this time 🤩 I think I was just lucky to spot them first in the rock pools 😁 Also, yeah, wear that those sticks (garden stakes, sign posts??) were there...they might have been thrown over the lighthouse cliff, I think 😅 it did turn out to be quite fortunate for me, though 😲 As always Alison, thank you so much for joining another shelling adventure 🥰

    Hi there friend Sheller from Down-under😊 My favorite on this adventure is the Pacific Deer Cowrie 😍 second place 🥈 goes to the two Drupe shells and 🥉 place goes to the Lischke’s Cone! Shoutout to all the other beautiful Cowries you found!! Love them all! Thanks Maddie! TTFN 👋 ❤

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      G'day Mimi 👋🏻💖 Yesss, that Pacific Deer Cowrie deserves to be the favourite this time!! Oh wow, the Drupes got the second place 😲! The white/yellow cone shell, my goodness, I think I should have given it a favourite place in the video, instead of just a shout-out, because it really is a cool one!! I'm glad you liked all of the shells and cowries today 🤩 Thank you so much for watching 🥰

      G'day Pam 👋🏻💖 The Arabian is a lovely large one, that's for sure! Always happy to find one of those in nice condition 😁 but oh my goodness, yes, that yellow and white cone shell at the end was just fabulous!! It must have just washed in, too, because it was just sitting there right in top of the sand! Thank you so much for joining me on this adventure, Pam 🥰

    Morning Maddie, I love how excited you got today. I have 3 favorites and they are #1 has to be the deer cowrie by far, #2 is the lischke's cone and the 3rd one is the purple pink coral. There are 3 that i like also and they are the wing oyster, the letteredmite and the operculum. Let's see how maney we match up. Salt and Pepper send pats to ninja ❤❤❤. I hope you have a wonderful day and see you in the next 🎬🎬 video. Stay safe and healthy

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      G’day Sheila 👋🏻💖 Haha, I got a bit excited by the pretty cowries this time 🤣 I think I might eventually become more jaded, and be a more Calm Maddie about shelling eventually, but the shiny cowries really get me going! I’m glad you like the Deer Cowrie as #1; it really is awesome! The Lischke’s Cone is really unusually...I thought it was a faded old cone of some kind, but then I noticed it in my new seashell book, so I guess it’s an uncommon species of cone shell that we can find in Australia 🤔 or I could have gotten the ID wrong, like I often do 🤣 Aww and the Pink Lace Coral is lovely too. Oh man, I didn’t realise until I saw it in my backpack at home, but I forgot to put that nice little Lettered Mitre into the shell display at the end 😅 well done for remembering it!! Also, we matched up on just one favourite, but I think I should have named that Lischke’s Cone as a favourite this time too, it was super cool. I hope you have a love day too 🐱 Ninja gets all the pats, she’s such a spoiled girl! I hope Salt and Pepper are getting spoiled to! Thank you so much for joining me once again 🥰

    Good morning sweet Maddie. I love those darn drupe shells. Those two mitre are very cute. That Deer cowrie sure stood out. It's my favorite. The Arabian of course is quite beautiful. Definitely see them more often than the deer cowrie. That cone reminded me so much of the Florida cone. Is it suppose to have a prominent tip or is it meant to be flat? Thank goodness it has cooled down some here. Just in the mid to high 90s compared to over a 100. 😩 Our grand daughter is getting married in September and we will travel over there. It's only an hour from Florence Oregon on the coast. Hoping to have time to make it there. I'll share pictures with you on your Facebook if we can get there. No really cool shells, just clam and broken bits and pieces of clam shells. You will find the blue mussels. It's a beautiful part of the coast and I'll enjoy searching the beach. Thanks again Maddie for sharing and I really think that staff of destiny goes very well with the wentletrap witch of Queensland. 😂

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      G'day Roberta 👋🏻💖 Haha, the Drupe shells keep catching your eye...I must admit, they're a fantastic family of seashells 🐚🤩 but gosh, the Deer Cowrie was so much fun today! Just an absolutely lovely cowrie with a really cool colour and pattern 🦌 wow! Indeed, I love Arabian Cowries, but when it comes down to it, they're actually quite a common shell here...I'm not complaining 🤣 but gosh, it's nice to find one of the less common Deer Cowries, especially one that isn't totally worn away. As for the big yellow and white cone shell today, yes, it is flat topped. There are a decent number of cone species with flat tops like this, and this is just another one of them...though I'm still not sure if I identified it correctly, but it seemed to match up with the shell picture in a new seashell book that I got this week 😅 It does look like a Florida Cone, doesn't it, though maybe shaped more like an Alphabet Cone?? Oh wow, I'm glad that you're finally getting some cooler days...half way through summer for you now, so hopefully the worst is behind you! Congratulations to your granddaughter, wow, was a truly wonderful occasion!! I hope you get there and have a great time with your family!! And, of course, go shelling if you can make the time. Even if the shells there at "not really cool" I think just being out there and hunting for treasures will be the best part of the day 😉 will love to see any photos, of course!! The blue mussels will be beautiful, I think ❤️ As always Roberta, thank you so much for joining me again today 🥰

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day Adrian 👋🏻🏖️ Phew, I'm glad I got the name right for it this time, though it's nice to finally have some firmer confirmation 🤩 Thank you! This cone shell, Conus lischkeanus, seemed to have conflicting appearances while researching it, but a few resources got me over the line. Thank you so much for watching 🥰

    • @adriangale6519
      @adriangale6519 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SandCoffeeRocks Different authors have different opinions about the validity of the names C.Lischkeanus and C.Kermadecensis. WoRMS now accepts Conus lischkeanus kermadecensis Iredale, 1912 as a subspecies (for now).

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, well… that’s a lot of a casual amateur like me to take in! I do try to get the most current scientific names from WoRMS though. It’s very interesting to know how all of this works. I got the name from my new book: 2002 Sea Shells Catalogue of Indo-Pacific Mollusca. I do realise that by the title that it’s over 20 year old now, so it’s not hard to imagine that some things change. Also, I asked you on Facebook about Conus sponsalis VS C. nanus: this book had them both listed as the same species (C. sponsalis) which I also found interesting, and wondered if that information was dated now.

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adriangale6519 Also, I noticed that my 2002 Sea Shells book has both of those names listed in it as different species. Well, I don't think I'll ever get it right, but oh well!

For here, it's in the 60-70s I think 🤔 and I have a ton of errands to do before collecting Dad from the train station tomorrow, he's finally almost back from Thailand 😲 But onto the shells, oh my goodness, your favourites surprised me!! Well, I do understand the big yellow and white cone shell, that one is super cool!! The Nerite, Wing Oyster, and Scaly Scallop are just lovely too, and I'm so glad that I could find and show them to you today. Thank you so much for watching 🥰
