Join me for the grand return of Walt Disney World's "blue route" resort boats - 1971 original watercraft, as we take a tour on Bay Lake to several resorts, see holiday decorations, horses & lots more! The Blue Route boats transport guests between Disney's Contemporary Resort, Wilderness Lodge & Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, with beautiful views across Bay Lake, of Discovery Island, the "shoe tree" and more! In each resort, we do some exploring, share fun facts and interesting bits of history, see views of Magic Kingdom, check out the Halloween decorations at Fort Wilderness Campsites, see new merchandise in all the resorts, including BOTH Halloween & Christmas, with some beautiful new Disney 100 Christmas ornaments too, and enjoy a lovely pumpkin coffee to win in October! The blue route allows guests to visit some of the most popular Disney Bay Lake resorts to dine, shop, meet characters, enjoy the views and atmosphere, and just check them out, with DIRECT routes between these resorts! These boats SCREAM disney to me. I love this so so much
I was a friendship boat captain when I did my CP in the early 2000s and it was the best role on property! The other captains were so nice and had been with the company for a long time! I loved letting the kiddos “blow” the horn when we were tied up at the docks!
And we would tie our shoes to a brick and drop it in the lagoon when you signed off of your role.
I loved Discovery Island ❤ It was like a tiny, educational, peaceful Animal Kingdom

Many many years ago my husband and I and our young children worked hard every year or so to save to come to Walt Disney World! We lived close to Disneyland but there was just something 'Magical' about Walt Disney World that we loved too! We DID visit Discovery Island our first visit to Disneyworld and our package included it as well as River Country! It's a little sad seeing the 'ghostly remains' of these areas but we have great memories!🥰
I loved Discovery Island. As a Florida School teacher, I used to take my self-contained special education class to the Ranch to see the horses at Fort Wilderness and then take the same little boats over to Discovery Island to see the animals and birds. It made a great day adventure with unique transportation.

I was there on opening day. I was 4 going on 5 on October 12th. We celebrated my birthday early on October 1st. We were also there on opening day of Space Mountain in 1973 and we were on the Wonderful World of Disney. You can see me and my brothers on the front row during the opening ceremony.😊❤ I remember all the animals and birds on Discovery Island. Lots of great memories with the family. Good times.

I remember Discovery Island (Treasure Island back then)from my 1st visit to WDW in 1976 & several more visits until it closed. Lots of great memories. I should find my family's old pics!!!

My family visited Discovery Island in 1978. It was cool! Lots of exotic birds, boardwalks around the island and pirate themed decor. I think there were boats from Fort Wilderness and the Contemporary to the island.

Bay Lake Tower is my home DVC Resort and we use to love taking the Blue Route to Wilderness Lodge for dinner and back to BLT! We really missed it on our last trip trips in 2021 and 2022. So happy it’s back! 🥰🥰🥰

Jackie, while watching this engaging blog I come to realize that being a native Floridian (born & raised), currently 69yo & will turn 70yo in Dec, I did go to Disney World in 1971 purchasing just E tickets for the major rides ( I had no money back then, 12th grade )!
Now, Disney is a 'lifestyle' for many.... 'Hello J a c k i e 😃'.

I’ve always found the RV decorating culture at Fort Wilderness super cool. I really wish more Disney TH-camrs would talk about it and the history of how it came about.
When you get the chance, on summer visit 1000 Islands at Alexandria Bay, NY with Sam. Last I was there was 2018, stayed at Capt. Thomson Resort with our room facing center of the Boldt Castle along the St. Lawrence river. Take the river tours. It'll take you to the Boldt Castle and Singer Island Castle. Also there's a classic (wood) boat museum on an adjacent town too. It's posh. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing. When we lived in Apopka years ago, and were annual passholders, our fav thing to do was to take the boat from the Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge. At the Contemporary dock they used to have fish food in dispensers, and it was fun to feed the fish there. We went to the Lodge and hung out by the fireplace. Another fav thing to do, which I don't know if they will ever bring back, was to go to the Polynesian Resort and rent little 1 or 2 person speedboats and ride them from 7 Seas Lagoon to Bay Lake. It was fun to jump the wake of the ferry boats with those little speedboats! They went too slow with 2 people in them though; my husband and I learned that the hard way! Your video brought back lots of memories.

Thanks for another great video. We loved using the boats. Kay's son Joey (the one in the chair) loved riding them so we used them as much as possible. It doesn't matter what you're doing it looks as though you're having a great times doing it. Thanks for taking us along
3:40 Yes, I visited Discovery Island in 1986. They kept their exotic birds there, so it’s been replaced by Animal Kingdom. Now all the wild animals get it to themselves. I also went to River Country on that trip!
Our first visit was in 1975, my family stayed at Fort Wilderness in a Motorhome. Our dog had to stay in the Disney World Kennel, so nice that they can stay with you now!

💙LOVE the blue boats SO much💙 Spent many weekends living in FL just riding the boats, not even going into a Park!!! Wilderness Lodge is my FAV resort😎Was lucky enough to first stay there during its `soft opening' many Moons ago! What we paid to stay there then for a week would blow people's minds with the prices today😲

Yesterday, Sunday October 1, my husband and I were at Epcot seeing the Moana way of water. It was great! A little rainy but that’s okay we were going to get wet anyway, thanks again!

My parents were there on September 28,1971 for the cast member opening of Disney world. My father was a horticulturist and had the mad tea party area of fantasyland as his work space. I lost him in 2013 but still have his memories in that area of the park when we visit. Awesome video thank you

My family and I visited the island (Discovery Island) that was originally called "Treasure Island" in 1978. Meandering paths would take you past flamingos, fish, birds etc. On the beach was a "shipwreck" to take photos of---not much else to do...maybe a bird show? The visit was a pleasant diversion from theme park madness!
What is it about Disney lovers and methods of transportation ? ❤ I adore all of the options Disney has to offer 😊 Skyliner, Ferry, boats, train, and of course the monorail 😍 what is your favorite? Mine is the ferry 🚢Thanks for the wonderful video!🎉

Loved the video. To answer your question, I was able to visit discovery island back in my early 20's on a family trip. It was a good experience and I do wish they would open it back up, especially the walking trail.

I love that boat route. Glad it is back!! I have great memories of Discovery Island and always look wistfully as the boat goes by these days. Wish it would come back, but without the animals. I think the animals get great care at Animal Kingdom. But Discovery Island could be reborn as a pirate island or fitness trail or quiet relaxing place with hammocks etc.

I love those little boats! They're so much more magical than the other boats. So glad the blue route is back! Do we know whether EVERY resort is getting a Christmas ornament in the resort collection? My family loves to stay at Wilderness Lodge. I am wondering if there will be one for it. I've only seen a few so far.

It's been code red/green at my Walmart lately. Too soon. When I was working I ran shuttle buses for a resort in Wisconsin Dells (when you going to come here?) and we had bus rowts. When I went out west I got my kicks on root 66. Went to my first Buc-ees recently. big time code orange. Some cool T-Shirts.First one was near Knoxville then we went to one in Sevierville.

Love all your videos, Jackie. Wasn’t able to make it to Disney this year, was there last December though. I miss Disney, and I don’t have my next trip planned. But I love all the updates and everything you share. Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort. Every time I ride one of the boats, I always sit in the back. I think my favorite transportation right now is the Skyliner. Boats are next. The buses are definitely last though. 😂
I love the Blue Route. I here it’s only running till 3pm. When I stay at BLT, I used like to go to WL in the evening for dinner. I hope they extend the hours. Happy it is running.

Ohhhh this will feel good ..the whole summer in a cast lol well tommorow will be to a soft cast the last step in this crazzy event in life! Aprox 4 to 6 weeks!
It's a real eye opener to have to wheelchairs & relying on others, stange looks ect! People treat you differently. Lol im6foot tall looking up to everyone was interesting!
