Your TH-cam is my happy place!!!! Thank you for these carefully crafted videos. The thought provoking opinions! The pieces you share!! The the editing!!! t’s all divine
i stumbled across your channel by chance and your content is really refreshing - the way you edit, the things you choose to speak about, it's so thought provoking and engaging (at a time when the mainstream of youtube is becoming a little "turn yr brain off" content wise lol). i'm glad i somehow found my way here!
unable to sleep, saw an interesting thumbnail in my recs. thought it was a music playlist, but it turned out to be a vlog-a glimpse into someone else’s life. loved the editing, but had no idea what these two men from an old interview were talking about))
oh wow thanks for stumbling on by! the interview is between Groucho Marx and Dick Cavett who were just talking about Groucho’s life and work. he has had a long, interesting career in moving from vaudeville and silent film to more talkie-comedies. i’ve been thinking a lot about how easy-going humor used to be and moving it into my everyday life, making light of the heaviness of life, if that makes any sense at all. i hope you’re able to catch some zzz’s soon! 🌜
@@nathansnook thank you for explaining! I’ll check out the interview-sounds interesting! my english isn’t perfect, so it’s a bit hard to understand everything they say, but the vibe of those old shows is so different and relaxing.
I love the book banter (though I'm "bookish")- it grounds the lighthearted moments and helps frame your artistic perspective. Your videos are engaging ...and beautifully composed.
im taking a bladwin senior seminar so i just finished go tell it on the mountain last week and WOW. cr another country & the evidence of things not seen
it’s a great series highly rec it for those who don’t normally read sci-fi! and i love Cavett! i’ve always loved his kind nature and rapport with so many different artists ✨💛
❦ your vids! channels like yours inspire me to document my life as well, not even to start a channel but just for myself and loved ones, super cool editing too! what're the songs playing at 17:57 and 20:44? sounds a lot like Solange but im not too sure
ahhh thank you for this wonderful comment! it’s honestly responses like these that make me keep going! i’m glad it’s reaching people who want more out of the world! and you’re spot on! a very good ear! both are taken from her Instagram stories somewhere between 2014-2017 when she was doing lives and singing in a bathroom mirror!
I would go to the concert tbh... life's too short to not go (it's a bad mindset to have buti didn't go to a lot of concerts when i was younger) coming off of a ten day long stretch of not talking to people... so i definitely agree with the time alone thing.
i caved in and bought tickets! I’m going!!! 😭 life is short and too short to spend time regretting! sending you warmth and joy after such a break of peopleless time! sometimes i go back to company forgetting how to talk and interact with others 😵💫
I can’t speak for the other rooney books - although i’m not surprised by what you say of her using her characters as pawns based on their stories and their filmed adaptations - but I definitely felt that rooney has little real affection for her characters in intermezzo, either. there’s perhaps some grace for their quirks, but it feels very anthropological. yena and i were discussing a few times how difficult it is to tell whether the judgment/aversion to some things is character voice or authorial voice. these are definitely pawns in permutations to explore facets of sociality to me - i mean, the book is overtly centered around chess!
i think Rooney has always had trouble with the judgement/aversion to some things based on character voice and authorial voice. i think this is most apparent in BWWAY and i'm not sure if it's worth going through the bibliography to really pinpoint love for character in her stories! but perhaps because her persons are so pointed as pawns in the game of chess that then the "love" is functional, mere mechanism, or works for me here than in her other books. also, very curious to know the thoughts on this from people going to this as their first Rooney!
omg is it wild that i'm nostalgic for the time of this vid HA when it was still ~summer-esque~ but so so much fun & for those who are curious: intermezzo did come in p soon after :D also what is the restaurant at the very end lol it looks delish
it was so lovely meeting you for the first time! how long ago this feels yet it feels like it was just yesterday? given that it is FINALLY starting to get chilly 😭 loved your Intermezzo vlog! i totally forgot the name of the 보쌈 restaurant, but it was somewhere in 마포! if i find the name of it again i'll send it over your way!
soon to be discussed in an upcoming wrap up! and ahhh thank you for this message! makes me excited! i ended up splurging on tickets and CAN’T WAIT! did he play a mix of old and new stuff? :)
enough to get around! i've lived in many different places, here and there, so change is something i welcome a lot in my life! but korea is a wonderful place and it means a great deal to me
Relinquishing control is hard but necessary ! One cannot live when shackled to arbitrary measures........coming from a girl who was deep in the ED trenches back in the day lol........ Unrelated but why does everyone like the UK cover for Intermezzo better ?? AWFUL font for her name and I hate this thing UK publishers do which is like a sort of block frame around the image.....if that makes sense.....rant, sorry. the color is pretty though 💙 (just like this vlog !)
so true! and still a thing I am learning to do 😭😭😭 i’m usually opposed to the block frame around images on uk covers but i think it works here! perhaps because the back is so nice with how it’s blocked like a chess board! but i prefer this blue to the yellow of the us edition haha
The editing... chef's kiss
ty !!! ✨👨🏻🍳

@@nathansnook I’ll wait for the video then!
He did, although I think he played more newer stuff :)
@@mikamuses good to know! can't wait ^0^
Go Tell it on the Mountain is probably in my top 3 of all time. It ruined every book I read after it for like a year cause none of them could compare.
a high claim! can't wait to get to it then! i love Baldwin's voice and prose
