i'm not sure if somebody has already mentioned this, but the voice cast did a one shot dnd campaign playing as their characters. its really cool and you should definitely check it out
I have yet to finish the game. I'm 175 hours in and every time I hit Act 3, I start thinking about what else i want to do and I start over.. and I'm utterly obsessed. It shocked me how much I loved playing a turn base game, I've honestly never touched one before.
Great rundown and I'm sure we would all love to see some of your gameplay here on TH-cam. BG3 is definitely a very social, tactical RPG that not everyone will like but they have definitely reinvented the wheel with this one.
A very good video. You are very articulate. You should consider doing similar videos for anime that you like as well. Maybe add a few skits here and there because your comedic stuff is always excellent.
He should do more of these, it was more entertaining to watch than I expected, and Trin doesn't go by the script like many video essay/analysis/reviewer does so it's a breath of fresh air
Something i found interesting about some dialogue. If you were to pickpocket a item that a NPC would give you (Someone in Act 1 gives you a horn you can use) the dialogue would actually change for the character to acknowledge that the item has been stolen from their bags. Just the little details I like.
My wife agreed to a couch co-op playthrough with me. Im buying her a purple ps5 controller for her to use. I cannot tell you how excited i am for this adventure.
I think Trin hit the nail on the head about what makes this game special. It's not perfect and it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but you have to appreciate that Larian attempted to do an impossible task which is to account for every possibility. Like they really really tried and damn near got it. There is so much content you might miss because you weren't aware of or a dice roll going awry... and that's okay. It's a true role playing game where a decision or two can lead you down wildly different paths and Larian tries to account for that. They also added spells like Speak with the Dead or speak with animals which are not necessary, but it's there. So they added voice lines for every animal and almost every dead body which a lot of people may just miss, but others will discover. It's something so optional, but adds so much to the World and Larian went the extra mile for that. In their last Panel From Hell before launch, the writer answered a question basically sums up what make Baldurs Gate 3 special. The question was "Doesn't it bother you that people don't see 99% of your content (in a single playthrough)?" The writer's response was "....No. Because they'll see *their* story, the one that they played that is true to the choices they made all the way through. And if they enjoyed it, they'll replay it again and try different things. I think that will be great."
The boys get together and play when? But for real 100% agree, this is the best rpg I've played in YEARS. Music was a major highlight for me a well. VA was on point as well. Really enjoyed this format. A more relaxed outlook on things that you're passionate about was kinda refreshing.
This game has had a grip on my life and the fact trin played it.. OMFG LETS GOOOOOOOOO. Would love a full play through especially with a bunch of homies
Love any content you put out Trin! I’ve been playing Baulder’s Gate for weeks, but haven’t even gotten to act two yet;; but seeing that you played to completion multiple times already and enjoyed the game even with all the bugs at first really makes me hyped for what’s to come! Thank you for the long and detailed video!
Watched this when you posted it, watching it again after finishing my 182 hour first playthrough alongside 50+ hours of co-op. Definitely would be thrilled to see more of these for other games you complete or have tried.
Excellent video, man. You earned another sub. I like especially how you explain your thougths and the green screen with you standing over the game footage. It feels clear and clean.
Always very nice to hear actual good experiences. I'm usually expecting people to just suck up for it on the grounds of it being BG3 (similar with Starfiled, but that's another issue), but luckily I'm basically proven wrong and just enjoy how grateful people seem to be to be able to experience the game. You should consider mods for later! If you fear the combat might get stale/too easy. There are reallly good ones (some riskier than others for your save game tho, I'd watch out for those just yet)
Great format Trin, off the cuff felt natural and I’m here for any new thing you’re feeling. This tests will help with your creative side and I’d love to see what games you love/loved to play
Its crazy because it isnt just a matter of if you miss or do not miss a character or place, etc. it is also a matter of how you chose tointeract in the dialog (options of which can vary based on your race and class) that can lead to completely different outcomes for the character or quest down the line or at the very least, how they perceive you in interactions going forward. The degree to which the game is able to maintain this internal consistency despite the insane number of permutations is just next level. And the fact that you can just kill the npcs, including your companions (or simply never recruit them) and the game just lets you continue and accounts for all of it and continues to be able to tell the story. I am currently on my second full play through playing as shadowheart and I can vouch for the fact that they did not pull any punches on the orgin stories. The amount of extra detail and narration and perspective the game gives you playing in their shoes vs playing as an original character blew my mind. If you are invested in this story and world playing the orgin play throughs are 100% worth it.
The things that make act 3 feel rushed are: -You can reach lvl 10 before act 3 leaving only 2 levels left of the game when act 1 and 2 shared 10 whole levels. -You can literally rush act 3, you can just kill the main baddies and get the last 2 levels without doing any side quests or gather allies. -Its split into lower and upper city requiring loading screens as if switching act zones which makes the halves just feel so miniscule. -It is a CITY which means everything is close, unlike act 1 and 2 where players have to walk a LOT between places and fast travel, so the content is more paced out.
It might be a bit of an overkill, but for newcomers out there who enjoy reading, I recommend having the Dungeon Master's guide as a companion to playing BG. A lot of tasty lore, beautiful illustrations and further of detailing of things, places, creatures, guilds and people mentioned/show in the game. :) And there's like, decades of lore to explore from other books too! Forgotten realms in just one area within d&d and it's already insanely big.
Hey Trin, Would love to keep seeing this content. It kinda reminds me of the general feeling I got after watching your DDLC video series or RWBY, watching you express your love for a game with your style of humor is the reason I watch.
I like the format! The two things that have always drawn me to your channel are your personality and your editing. I loved your Doki Doki and Dark Souls videos, and of course the old LoL content. I was never annoyed at the move away from LoL, because that's not what I was here for. Videos like this just let you put your personality on the screen about a topic, and it's fun to watch. I also think if you enjoy making this type of content, I am excited to see more. I often feel like the content you enjoy making is your best stuff. Love your work man, keep being Trin!
My wife has been playing solo and asked if I wanted to give it a go. Having not played a damn thing in it, I went Warlock. As in DnD I tend to play brutes, I thought this would be different. Then I encountered someone with a red HP bar yelling at me. I clicked Eldritch Blast and put him in the dirt. This is when I learned that crimes are in this game, and who Asterion is. Left his ass in the dirt and stole his shit. Wife hasn't entirely recovered.
It made me like Clerics. And I don't even heal with them. Found it really fun having to pick a deity, encouraging me to read up on the lore and giving me direction about how I'd roleplay such a cleric. I'm a Tempus fanboy now.
24:45 It's.. kind of? Things like items and unscripted monsters (that don't have conversations or interact with the environment) can be easily moved, but stuff like the actual city map can't just be copied over like that. Especially in Baldur's Gate, where the lower city is very obviously the "normal wealth" area and the upper city is the noble's area. Walking down an alley to find you're surrounded by mansions would mess with the experience and only get worse the more you know about Baldur's Gate. However, you also hit a second really important thing: everyone's already saying act 3 was light on content. If they did take all of the upper city content and put it in the lower city, that means that the content currently in the lower city would've been spread across the upper and lower cities. Therefore, act 3 would've felt even more rushed and low on content than it does now. So, simply going by reviews, doesn't that mean that they were completely correct to cut the upper city if that's what they did?
I've only had one playtrough so far and it took me 200+ hours. This game is so f-in good. And one thing that I've noticed only when I started new playtrough is that maps aren't that big horizontally, meaning that to run from one corner to another doesn't take very long, few minutes and that's it, but the density of the map is nothing like I've seen before. I've never felt so inclined to explore since everything you discover or find is either useful to you physically (items) or leads to something new in story that eventually will be phisically useful. Every single one game with so called open world exploration either had large mass/area of empty, useless land or trinkets that are worthless and waste your time through forced exploration in baldur's gate 3 the maps are so insanely addictive to exploration that I just can't play anymore "open world" games since they feel like waste of time rather then fun to explore even tho they are much "larger" the bg3.
Without knowing what this game could offer, I did make a character, my first ever DND character, and went in with her mindset and MY GOD did they (for the most part) do an amazing job of rounding out your options to the point it really felt my own character went from this cold, kind of clueless woman to one of compassion and caring, but still sassy. That alone really got to me. Then you have....literally everything else about this game that's amazing.
The most insane part of Larian is just how mod friendly they make their stuff. So this game which I've put nearly 300 hours into the base of will continue to gain new content. If they can make a dungeon creator like Solasta did, then....
AWESOME! 🔥 🔥 Loving this new format of game reviewing. Would love to see more of this kind of format not only limited to games, like maybe animes that you love
the combat has really grown on me killing everyone (except you know who) in moonrise tower and barely BARELY winning the fight on tactician has been one of the most satisfying experiences ive had in any game (mvp way of the open hand monk karlach base boosted by soul coin)
I was really surprised that Trin didn't upload (even just a short one) a video about the Yasuo reveal and gameplay in project L and yeah Baldurs Gate 3 is really good can confirm
I've spent over 55 hours in Act 3 alone.....almost as much as acts 1 & 2 combined.....so not sure where this talk of Act 3 being rushed is coming from. Sure it'd have been cool to have the Upper City as a fully explorable area all on its own, but I trust Larian when they say it was cut, early in development, for narrative reasons. They've certainly given me no reason to doubt their words. Longer and more detailed epilogues would be amazing to see, though.
Would love to see him do another video as a sort of in depth look into all the companions you can get, their back stories, their classes, play styles and whatnot
There was a major bug making certain characters try to jump you in the sack REALLY early. Most people experienced it with laezel and gale specifically. Laezel tried to bang me midway through act 1, which was odd to me because i was trying to get with shadowheart, meanwhile my very straight friend got REALLY uncomfortable because what he thought was a cool bros being bros cutscene with gale became a little too intimate.
I think that worst part about third act was that there was too much content. I felt like I was close to the major threat and that should be my main focus, but then I go and spend time on unrelated side stories !? A lot of the side stories end up getting you significant help for dealing with the major threat but that is just coincidental, it rarely starts off with the goal of improving my strength vs the major threat. Also some things feel like they were left out or not polished because enough because they didn't have enough time. ie. There is a boy crying at his parents corpses. So I think I will talk to the dead to give the boy some closure and maybe set him on a path for revenge, but the corpses 'Remain silent'. Another thing: a character joined my party and was attached to my main character that was a sneaky boy. Now everywhere I went that guy ran after me and got me into combat at bad spots, neutering my main character.
Only beef I have outside of some buginess (Which... ehhh... Not gamebreaking imo), is I want better information when I decide how to level up. Thief's Fast Hands does not describe itself well when you're picking your rogue subclass. (Side note for the absolute newcomers, Rogues, DO NOT SLEEP on Thief. It's a free Bonus action.)
I haven't felt this much joy with a video game since I first played the Mass Effect trilogy, aka my favourite game series ever. What you said about this feeling like a classic Bioware game is 100% correct. I still like Mass Effect more, but this definitely fills my RPG quota until the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect games come out
This is probably the best game I have ever played. I’m not a CRPG or D&D too. I didn’t like turn based games before. I wasn’t really into isometric game as well before. But now I think I prefer this over 3rd person over the shoulder view. I get bored easily with games and I can count how many games that I actually finished. Bulder’s gate III just changes everything. This game literally comsumes my life. I’m 50 hours into the games, still at the start of Act 2, and I’m not bored yet. Now I play slowly and enjoy everything because I don’t want this to end. Haha.
Love the idea and the video needs some work around and get used to it but for the most part its really great expect for some things that made it eh. Look into our souls when you speak, turning your face around like its a class presentation its not really good at all, and how frequesnt and/or you change place yourself in the screen is not something I enjoy but it could be me I do not edit or have experience with recording myself for a video but its something I had in mind. Lastly I would suggest using the background as a highlighter rather than a constant stream of fotage, but tbf you did that with the lounge of one of the places in bg3. Over all I am really glad that you shared something you loved in a new video format since yours has always have been a fun one, looking forward for the new video :D
The only Bugs I ever encountered that I even remember happened were when companions (for whatever reason) just... didn't jump with me and then got stuck like ten miles away because the AI didn't activate after I ran ahead and I have to wrangle them back in... and once I had to reload a save because a contextual buff faded and they were just stuck somewhere I couldn't save them from. I do like this though, it was nice to hear your thoughts, but I'd much more like to hear you playing the game with friends... WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE.
Enjoyed the more free-form video! Happy to hear other people wax poetic about BG3! This game is SO GOOD. Very easily GotY for me. I'm almost done with my first playthrough and very excited to go back and play again as Durge.
I think the content is good. Nice honest ajd straightforward. Though maybe qhen you do more i think a little additional tweak to the background music would be nice. With BG3 music its very orchestric so it doesnt drown out your voice, but it definitely felt a bit too close to your speaking volume if that makes sense .besides that i would happily love to see more. This format would work for other things as well like anime
I would kill for a Trin and the boys playthrough where Javi fireballs everyone
YES PLEASE!
JAVI!!!! UNINSTALL!!!!!
make it 100 hours long, ill watch the whole thing in a day
@Trinimmortal WHY IS IT TAKING YOU SO LONG TO DO THIS
I've poured over 250 hours into this game now, and I really feel like this might just be the best game ever made.
It IS one of the best games ever made.
It's the best game ever made.
Best game everrrr!!! Playing on PS5!❤
Interesting video. The format was totally fine, I'd enjoy more content like this where you're just talking about the game or something you like.
i'm not sure if somebody has already mentioned this, but the voice cast did a one shot dnd campaign playing as their characters. its really cool and you should definitely check it out
I have yet to finish the game.
I have 3 Astarion T-Shirts. Car Stickers, and a picture of him hanging in my room. I've lived a lot of live unfortunately and I just get it
BG3 gonna win ALL the awards.
The best content creator playing the best game!!!!
The best game I ever played ... and I played a lot of games since 1989, when I was six years old and my father brought home ZX Spectrum :)
Something i found interesting about some dialogue. If you were to pickpocket a item that a NPC would give you (Someone in Act 1 gives you a horn you can use) the dialogue would actually change for the character to acknowledge that the item has been stolen from their bags. Just the little details I like.
Trin enjoying Legends of the 5 Rings is somehow something I never thought of but makes absolute sense.
The question was "Doesn't it bother you that people don't see 99% of your content (in a single playthrough)?"
The writer's response was "....No.
Down down down by the river
Really enjoyed this type of format Trin, hope you do more of them in the future :)
I love when Trin truly geeks out and shares his experience with us. Nice video. Would love to see more like it.
Watched this when you posted it, watching it again after finishing my 182 hour first playthrough alongside 50+ hours of co-op.
Definitely would be thrilled to see more of these for other games you complete or have tried.
Larian studio is a special game with plenty of hearth in it to enjoy , happy that you enjoyed it trin
YES! TRIN LIKES BG3!!
Game of the mfing year baby! My favorite probably ever.
Excellent video, man. You earned another sub.
I like especially how you explain your thougths and the green screen with you standing over the game footage. It feels clear and clean.
30mins of Trin playing BG3?? SIGN ME UP
Did you know there was a Samurai mod for the fighter ? 😏😏
A Trin video on the best game what a day
Finally made it to the house of hope, and I gotta say, you weren't lying about the music!
Me literally yesterday: "Trin is either dead or chilling in Twitch. Probably both."
Man, I popped a genuine smile seeing a video from you pop up. Glad you're posting again.
Great video! Always love the energy and content.
i liked just for the monokuma
The things that make act 3 feel rushed are:

Gonna comment for that sweet sweet engagement. Good shit Trin, love to see this
Hey Trin, Would love to keep seeing this content. It kinda reminds me of the general feeling I got after watching your DDLC video series or RWBY, watching you express your love for a game with your style of humor is the reason I watch.

Poor Gale, the Affection bug has already made him a meme.
When I'm not playing Bg3, I'm listening to a video about Bg3 or ignoring people around me while I think about Bg3.
My wife has been playing solo and asked if I wanted to give it a go. Having not played a damn thing in it, I went Warlock. As in DnD I tend to play brutes, I thought this would be different. Definitely a different type of Trin video but you did it well! Hope to see more like it!

I was wondering where Trin was. Good to see him playing something that was 10 outta 10 even if it took some 200 hours
for your first time doing this style of video, it's super good, man
Game Of The Year
Great format man, been following you since the Blade and Soul videos. Always nice to see you upload!
I feel like the final 2 antagonists in act 3 feel alot better if you know allt he lore around the dead 3 and the previous baldurs gate games.
Loved this style of video from you Trin, I'd be up for watching more content of this style!
I've been playing 5e since about 2018 or so, I'm really excited to see how to the lore holds up to people just discovering it !
Nice change of pace to hear your mostly raw thoughts.
I really liked this style of video! Nice to hear your opinions about a topic that's a bit more grounded
love this new format and style!
Loved this video, this style was pulled off really well
[Trin casually drops that he's an Exalted/L5R player]
I KNEW THIS MAN WAS THE BEST. I KNEW IT.
Yes!!! I love this game and I'm so happy you made a video on it
I had no idea you were making videos again I'm so excited!
I'm totally up for more videos like this. Games, Anime, or anything else.
reminds me of the endwalker prediction vid you did. always got some fun ideas and ways of looking at things. i like these
The most insane part of Larian is just how mod friendly they make their stuff. So this game which I've put nearly 300 hours into the base of will continue to gain new content. If they can make a dungeon creator like Solasta did, then....
I'm not sure I'm a fan of this style of video, but I can respect this new format. At least now, I have something to hear when I drive to work.
AWESOME! 🔥 🔥
Loving this new format of game reviewing. Would love to see more of this kind of format not only limited to games, like maybe animes that you love
i really like the format, good job.
the combat has really grown on me killing everyone (except you know who) in moonrise tower and barely BARELY winning the fight on tactician has been one of the most satisfying experiences ive had in any game (mvp way of the open hand monk karlach base boosted by soul coin)
I have yet to get the game yet so i appreciate an honest review like this to get an idea what i can look forward to.
I'm not really into this sort of turn base kind of game either, but the comments, the scenarios, story and more, all enthralled me
I like this format, it's nice to have something different from the usual edited stream highlights style
Trin revewing games, I'd pay for that.
I was really surprised that Trin didn't upload (even just a short one) a video about the Yasuo reveal and gameplay in project L
and yeah Baldurs Gate 3 is really good can confirm
I've spent over 55 hours in Act 3 alone.....almost as much as acts 1 & 2 combined.....so not sure where this talk of Act 3 being rushed is coming from. Trin doing a review/talk video is a interesting format that I'm looking forward to more!
Here's my comment for the algo gods.
I'll come back when I have time to consume Trin in his entirety.
The video. Consume Trin's video in its entirety.
It's always a good day when you upload Trin! Great to see that you're doing well!
Late af to this video because I wanted to play the game completely blind first. Solid video, please make more in this style because this was great
I think that worst part about third act was that there was too much content.
Enjoyed the video and can’t help but think a trin and co play through would be gold
Okay, hear me out... Give Larian permission to build a Fallout game in the classic Fallout style.
This is the crossover I needed in my life. Please keep this up
Only beef I have outside of some buginess (Which...
I still like Mass Effect more, but this definitely fills my RPG quota until the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect games come out
Trin posted? GET THE LUBE MY BODY IS READY!!!
3:47 THANK YOU
I BLOODY LOVE EXALTED
This is probably the best game I have ever played. I’m not a CRPG or D&D too. I didn’t like turn based games before.
I wasn’t really into isometric game as well before. But now I think I prefer this over 3rd person over the shoulder view.
I get bored easily with games and I can count how many games that I actually finished.
Bulder’s gate III just changes everything.
This game literally comsumes my life. I’m 50 hours into the games, still at the start of Act 2, and I’m not bored yet.
Now I play slowly and enjoy everything because I don’t want this to end. Haha.
You shouldn't worry about this because this video was awesome! You should do more of this! Plus, please do a playthrough with the bois somehow
Over all I am really glad that you shared something you loved in a new video format since yours has always have been a fun one,
looking forward for the new video :D
The only Bugs I ever encountered that I even remember happened were when companions (for whatever reason) just... didn't jump with me and then got stuck like ten miles away because the AI didn't activate after I ran ahead and I have to wrangle them back in... and once I had to reload a save because a contextual buff faded and they were just stuck somewhere I couldn't save them from.
I do like this though, it was nice to hear your thoughts, but I'd much more like to hear you playing the game with friends... WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE.
I had fun listening to this, thanks trin-kun
Enjoyed the more free-form video! Happy to hear other people wax poetic about BG3!
This game is SO GOOD. Very easily GotY for me. I'm almost done with my first playthrough and very excited to go back and play again as Durge.
Awesome Trin, great to see a video about this game!
Your review is perfect for me and I'll use it to represent my opinion on the game. Great vid
