My Tesla We Robot Event Video with Pre-event expectations, event activities & my Post-event reaction

- On 10 October 2024, Tesla held what was billed as the most important event in the history of the company. The We, Robot programs highlighted the significant shift to autonomy, Robotaxis and Robovans, humanoid robotics, Artificial Intelligence and the roadmap for the company into the future out 5 to 10 years.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to the event and my hope is to try and provide you, the viewer a unique opportunity to experience the sight, sounds and thoughts of many of the attendees as if you were at the event.
I began the day flying my drone over the Warner Brothers Studios, which was the site of the We, Robot event, and I give you some aerial views along with ground-level views during a tour I took earlier in the day. I interviewed several people ahead of the main event to see what they thought was going to be shown and what their expectations were, along with my own.
Throughout these short interviews, I include video and images of the actual event soo you are able to see how it matched up to the expressed expectations, and I also have a segment of just experiencing the event as if you were walking through it.
At the end of the video I present my initial reactions to what we heard and saw and summed up the day.
I hope you enjoy this video and what I was able to show you!
Joe, thanks for being part of such a fun day. It was an honor to hang out with you during the day and certainly to be interviewed. What a day! 😊
@@SteveT321-g9u 👍😎 Thanks Steve!
Fantastic recap, I was with you wanting to get more details on the system and how an individual network of cars would mix in with the mass network etc. Great party tho - can't go wrong with robots pouring drinks! Thanks for putting this video together Joe, you rock!
@@peterdog15 thx Jeff!
Hey Joe, you’re one my fav, thanks for sharing!

Wonderful. Thanks for your unique and unbiased perspectives. Watch virtually all of your videos! SoCalFreddy

THX JOE! and just because partnerships or licensing wasn’t mentioned doesn’t mean something isn’t happening.. according to boomermama the CEO of Stellantis was in attendance during the presentation.. seated next to Kimbal .. we’ll see what develops..

Great video, Joe! Very cool that you got to go to this event. Tech is great, but fascinating to see how far Optimus has come along. Security was pretty tight around them.
THX JOE 🤗 so great that you got to go💚💚💚
Thanks ... I was very lucky to get the chance to attend!
10:17 Hey Joe, it was great to finally meet you and give my predictions for the event!
Thank you!!!! Literally the only one I've found where we got to go into the party and feel and see what you all got to see. We really only got a few snippets elsewhere.
@@miltdanfoss thanks and glad this helped to put you more into the event, which is what I was trying to do!
Great roundup Joe.
Thanks Joe for sharing. Dirty Tesla had a nice clip of Optimus hand in action which I thought was interesting.
THX JOE 🤗 for introducing Jack👋💚💚💚
Thank you for covering the event. Happy to see the future. WCDB
🤗 I’M WATCHING 👀 AGAIN 💚💚💚
Thanks for the coverage and especially capturing so much of the cool drone show! I think a lot of people had some unrealistic expectations. Tesla always tries to release information when it's a done deal, not while negotiations are in progress.
Can't wait!
I hope you enjoy the video and what I tried to show!
Merci👍👍👍
Must've been nice to be there

Great job!
Thanks Joe... seemed like a great event! I'm just wondering how you play the games as a robotaxi passenger? Bring your own controllers (BYOC)? Tesla team is outstanding!
I want a gold Optimus, like C3PO
Looks like the van could be for boreing tunnel use. That would make the clearance a non-issue, does it have air suspension and is low for ingress/egress? Glad you got to go Joe. Very interesting, was the taxi stainless?
I WAS WONDERING 🤔 THE SAME THING WITH air suspension 🤗😎
I'm amazed that you got permission to fly your drone over the film lot, even on a limited basis.
Good stuff Joe!
thanx Joe pretty cool stuff going on in Elon's world!!!
Thanks for your excellent report, Joe! I got more out of this than I did watching the event live last night.
Any chance you can provide links to the people you interviewed? I know most of them, but there was several I don't know.
Thanks Joe!!!
I'm sorry to say that first guy you interviewed, sorry name 😅 I'm not sure but I don't thinks he's passionate about tesla anymore, he seemed moody 😅😂😂😂😂😂 maybe the spark of tesla ruling the world has left his sights, 😅😂😂😂😂 I dunno, be more passionate, be more happy 😊 and excited 😊 😂😂😂😂😂 just saying dude😅😅😅😅
Great show tho 👏 😊❤
Would have loved to attend.
@@charlescole-p9v hope you can at the next one and I hope this video helped you feel like you were kinda there!
I think it was quite smart for the Optimus to be out inside the crowd, even though (obviously) safety crew were attending each one. It's a dual learning environment. The people learn about the robot, and the robot (system), learns more about crowds (video in/controls out). The advantages far outweigh the liabilities and I'm glad they did this. Also, 50 AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES! Nice! Curious to know if any hardware mods made to the MY/M3 AVs for this, or if it was just the latest software. Well done overall event. Wish I could have been there, and looking forward to the day the first reservations for CyberCab go live. Hopefully they will make it a $500 or more reservation fee to weed out the unserious folks this time, but whatever the fee (up to $5K), I'm IN. One for me (minimum) and perhaps another in order to have 2 vehicles making income around the clock.
The robots were controlled by people, they are not autonomous. Though they were very well done hardware wise.
@@michaelhess4825 You don't know that. In fact that is highly unlikely if only for the simple reason that it would be far more embarrassing (and devastating), for a (highly possible), communication failure exposing a teleoperation. There would also be very noticeable delays due to communication latency.
@@GntlTch I do know that. Sorry. Again, the hardware is what was on display here, and it's fantastic.
@@michaelhess4825 Really! Just how exactly do you "know" that???
@@GntlTch don't read much media do you? It came out a couple different ways. And if you watch closely, you can very much tell they are human controlled. And watch the handlers... It's beyond obvious, even when I watched the event live.
You are putting the whole big picture together, I wish you could find experts to suggest what people (in all walks of life), will do to earn the money to participate in the envisioned society.
A society of plenty and little employment.
Exactly! I robots and AI is doing all the work how are people getting the money to live and buy robot? The vast majority of the world's population cannot afford $20-30K for a robot now, let alone in the future.
@@GntlTch You can look at examples like Norway where oil income enriches the whole society, but bad examples prevail in most countries.
@@sagecoach That's just kicking the can down the road. Where's the money coming from for buying the oil? Remember, the thesis is that EVERYONE will have robots to do ALL the work.
@@GntlTch I don't have the answers, this is a new world coming.
Primitive societies abound in history with no money system, perhaps the answer. A few still exist.
It was fun for ppl present at the show and that’s all. For ppl around the world, it was empty and disappointing : no datas, no apps, no info on Optimus, just demos puppeteer type ….
Agree. Remote controlled tin cans walking around the crowd was not impressive.
Amen!
I’m actually happy it was focused on robostuff - this is the future of Tesla. Vehicles are just a means to an end. Lower cost is good but robostuff is critical. Both as a long term investor and as someone who believes the future must be sustainable- robotaxi/bus is 1,000,000x more important than a lower cost vehicle. That would come at it’s time but it wont change the world like robostuff
and how do ya’ll fanboys see the future of tesla with its ceo going full-on nazi?
Did you see any of the Animaniacs that live in the water tower behind you?
I agree that the robotaxi should carry 5 people
So, my question is :
Where do you suppose they built those 20 robotaxis? I dont think it was at Texas.
I dont think Nevada has the capabilities. Fremont? Berlin? Off site?
!
Design studio
I will sure be glad when you get back to giga texas
Will there be a video today?
@@timjohnson9830 not from me … I got in late last night. I’ll fly in Friday next
@@JoeTegtmeyer Thanks. And thanks for all your hard work!
Looks like Musk's robotaxi event didn't help the price of Tesla stock. 😊
No tesla event ever helps the stock.
@@njengakim This one was especially bad. We heard the same old stuff....
"Full self driving next year" (for the 15th time).
"A $30,000 cyber cab by 2027" (Which likely means "A $90,000 cyber cab that won't drive itself by 2030).
* No mention of an affordable EV.
* No mention of important details about cyber cab.
I mean really.... Even the best fans have to admit he needs to do better.
@@DavidJohnson-tv2nnthis was a good event
Wait until the shareholder meeting for details
You really expected charts and a demo of an app that won't be able to use until 2027
?
Plus the cheaper car is for another event it's a model Y variant
Will the robobus fit in the boring tunnel?
Good question. Would love to see it in Vegas.
@@twydye55 I think it can … just barely.
For the van, they should have it higher or the ability to raise or lower it for flood water or other reasons. They should get rid of the stair, one step up thing. For the cybercab, it will be problematic for people who are prone to motion sickness because the seat is so low, with the window so high up.
Have you returned to Texas yet, Joe?
The haze in the air is the moisture off the Pacific.
Seeing 2chains at a Tesla RoboTaxi event is the most random thing ever lol
It looks like you're at the same lot as Back to the Future.
Robotaxi, Robovan, Optimus are all very exciting. But isn't it high time for Tesla to announce its product lineup for 2025? I think the lack of any confirmation of near-term expansion of the Tesla line is what is eating at the stock market. After all the market reacted to the 'excitement' of the We Robot announcement with a forty point drop from the pre-event high. So Tesla, let's get real! A Robotaxi in 2027 depends on robust sales in 2025 and 2026.
The haze is probably the LA smog.
Joe, were the Robotaxis wrapped or painted. It looked like color-shift.
No, they look like stainless steel but when I asked one of the engineers they said no it was stamped steel at this point. However, they said things were underdevelopment....
I suspect that the stamped steel was either painted to look like stainless steel or, they had a simple clear coat. Strangely, the finish was somewhat matte appearing in the lighting.
Altrough the robots wäre Remote Controller is was super net to se them!
The event would have been a major success if they had incorporated a wide release of FSD to all that have paid for it. But it obviously still does not work well enough for regulators to approve it. So how are investors meant to believe that robotaxis will be able to drive around without interventions
26:43 Optimus doing the Bully Maguire dance😭
@@mikethelegendarygamer4581 😎👍
I’m hoping that someone has recorded going back to Optimus a second time to ask if it/he remembered who they were or if it/he remembers talking with them.
The robotaxi has a fatal flaw of being able to only carry two people. I would bet by the time they start selling the robotaxi it will carry four people. I did like the robovan and thought it was a good idea. I could care less about the robots.
It has another fatal flaw too.... FSD still doesn't work (unsupervised), and I'm guessing it won't work by 2027 either. The claim of "next year" was comical. How many times has he said that? Also agree on robots. I have no need to have a $20,000 tin can walking around my house.
Jack seems to be a Debbie-downer. Took all the excitement away even though he's tempering expectations.
Meeting Jeff yesterday, I see him as a very practical person and I don't think he wanted to feel he was hyping anything. I will tell you though, he is very engaging and fun to hang out with!
The question I have is how many people are the robot's going to put out of a job and how replacing worker's with robot's going to hurt the economy ???????? You do know that robot's don't pay taxe's so how are we going to fund the government, Social Security, and Medicare with nobody paying in ???? Non of the engineer's or scientist that are developing all these robot's and taxi's without driver's have an answer to how people are going to be able to support their self !!!!
That problem would be easy to solve. Just tax the billionaires and corporations who own the robots. We would all get a free income for not working! However....
I highly doubt Musk's robots will work and other companies are way ahead of him. The real problem comes if the robots actually work and decide to turn against us!
Not to worry... Government will find a way to tax robots. Count on it!
@@Sushihunter250 The government should tax the corporations that own the robots!
11:40 he clearly had insider info. He was probably a Tesla employee.
I doubt it. You're just jealous that he has better analytic skills than you.
Looked more sinister than dexterous.
You have absolutely no appreciation for the engineering marvel of dexterity of Optimus' hands and wrist! The best that some of the "competition" can do is a simple hinged claw.
Very disappointing.....I'm afraid Elon has lost his way. Where is the Model 2?
Haze? Seriously? Has he never heard of California pollution? 😢
I thought that the whole world was forced to get expensive catalytic converters just to clear the air in California 🤔

What you don't do is doubt the truth of everything you hear. If you did you'd be almost 💯 percent on the correct path. But since you don't doubt you're usually on the wrong path. It's called stoicism. Learn something today. Quite being a sap.
Spoken as someone who can't fathom anything beyond repeating sound bites.
Having lived in SoCal for the past 60 years, yes, there is pollution but nowhere near as bad in the past and not all haze is pollution.
You wanted tight time lines and you didn’t get them. And the event started 45 minutes late. No way to treat your stock holder’s. Elon time just like his future vehicles. The event should have been held in fantasy land or tomorrow land. And to put icing on the cake the stock dropped 9% today.
Someone had a medical emergency before the event. Go whine to your boyfriend.
