That was awesome to watch… I just retired from Michelin back in December after almost 41 years of employment so this was quite interesting to me. The Michelin Man’s name is actually “Bibendum”, commonly referred to as Mr. Bib across the company.
thank you very much for your comment. Wow 41 years thats really impressive :) I knew his name was Bibendum but Mr Bib is new to me. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely loved the video! The Michelin man is 120 years old and his real name is Bibendum, and used to be a bit creepy looking. Many of the posters from the early 20th-century depict him as a somewhat sinister figure, large and bespectacled, drinking champagne, and chomping permanently on a cigar. This led to the character being known for a while as a “road drunkard”, an image that would be disgusting to any car related company today. In the Italian market he was depicted as a pleasure seeking ladies’ man - An attempt to appeal to the wealthy upper - class folks who had the monetary funds to purchase a car. But in the 1920’s he toned down and took on a more refined family friendly image. He quit alcohol, stopped smoking, shed plenty of weight and is even a touch macho looking. Lol. There’s a restaurant in London that pays tribute to him. Last but not least, the Michelin Man in 2018 was awarded Icon of the Millennium.
That was a great restoration. The Michelin Man's name is Bibendum and dates back to the Lyon Exhibition of 1894 where the Michelin brothers had a stand. One of the world's oldest trademarks. Thank you for your video. Am filled with so much trivia some day my brain will pop. 👍👍👍
