  • 'It's Maggie for Me' was a campaign song that gained popularity during the 1983 general election in the United Kingdom, where Margaret Thatcher led the Conservative Party. The song was part of the Conservative Party's efforts to promote Thatcher's leadership and policies during her second term as Prime Minister.
'It's Maggie for Me' had a lively and upbeat melody, with lyrics that praised Margaret Thatcher's leadership and her vision for Britain. The song aimed to rally Conservative supporters and create a sense of enthusiasm around Thatcher's candidacy.
The song became a memorable part of the 1983 general election campaign and contributed to the overall image of Margaret Thatcher as a strong and determined leader, certainly adds to the fervour of her supporters during the election.
In the end, Margaret Thatcher and the Conservative Party won a resounding victory in the 1983 general election, securing her position as Prime Minister for a second term. 'It's Maggie for Me' remains a piece of political history, reflecting the enthusiasm and energy of that campaign.

I’d like to use this comment to say that the Imperial Britannia channel is non political, I myself am political but my channel does not, Tory, Labour, Lib dems, the channel is for music of Britain and the Commonwealth, I do not mind nor care if you hold your own different views about politics, like Maggie here. Although if a comment has actual misinformation I will most likely debate it. If it is just plain hatred and such I’ll remove it, I’ve seen footage of IRA terrorist attacks where people actually comment on how great it is to them.

It has the same vibe as the 'Springtime for Hitler' song from Mel Brooks' 'The Producers'. Do you think the people who wrote it were being satirical? 😂

That’s the worst part, they were deadly serious. This song was what played when the last semblance of a fair and just Britain was murdered in 1983.

Alright it's a funny song and it made me laugh, but I don't think you should be glorifying the woman who inhumanely killed Bobby Sands by her removal of political status from IRA members. Despite being Irish, I do not condone the wicked things the IRA did, but their acts are mitigated by the fact that Irish land - stolen by the British under Cromwell - was being retained in Northern Ireland and Thatcher refused to negotiate or even meet with any Irish nationalist leaders. Your spreading of Thatcher propaganda is frankly disgraceful.

Wow it’s almost like you can’t read, I have a pinned comment on this video saying it’s not endorsing any thing but sowing light on a historical song, my about sections says I’m not supporting any thing either, and I have various different songs like the anthems of the British Labour Party and Lib Dem’s, and even the BUF anthem, if posting a historical song is spreading propaganda to you than you can leave. Also NI is British and has been, every single nation of earth is stolen land, the English stole our own land from Normans, who stole it from the Anglo Saxons who stole it from the Danes, the jutes, the germanics, the romans, the celts, the bell beakers.

IRA was terrorist organisation so why should anyone care about “political” status? And I am afraid nobody cares what do you say “you should be”, who asked? She was simply best modern British PM.

Bobby Sands chose to kill himself. The choice was nobody else’s but his. His terror group did not offer the same choice to their victims.
