The no build vans are the best. Showing people you can do it as you go and on a tight budget.
totally!!! That's why we wanted to share this set up so much. It's amazing what a little ingenuity and some thrift store buys can get you. These two are such happy little clams, it made me feel like everyone needs (at least to start with) a no build build!

Love that someone finally said whatever bed config makes sex difficult or complicated. It’s like the G-rated ways of ignoring it made me wonder if anyone actually, successfully had sex while on the road. I’m guessing they obviously do, but (for me) its better to be adult and frank about it. Thanks for posting, FnA!

FnA Van Life: Ha! I agree with Frankie. Def leave it in. I’m thinking: as long as we are adults, respectful of each other, and honest, there’s so much useful stuff we can share. And that’s been a silent question I have when I see many vans. Especially people who may have a hard time fitting into their bed with enough headroom.

Great video. Really liked how everything was so basic. It made you realize how you can enjoy a van without initially spending hardly any money. Also, put in perspective how one could just spend a couple of thousand dollars and make it so much better by making minimal upgrades!

great video. I like to see the simple practical van builds. I'm always over thinking the builds...makes it impossible and expensive. This way you get a van and start enjoying van life/camping immediately. Nice "no build build"!

They did a great job on utilizing the things they already had.
If u want 2 reduce radiant heat gain in summer , white reflective roof paint - Home depot Lowes - will help. 1 gallon covers top easily. Artic/Frost king Duct insulation foam easily stick to inside roof walls for R3 thermal break . Both inexpensive.

This is how I did my van. Everything can be pulled out if needed. My brother built me a bed base last Christmas. That's the only bit built in. I love your van.

I like these no build vans. They make it more realistic and make me actually believe that I could pull this off. A lot of builds are like actual recreations of interior homes with wood floors and just a whole lot of building which is cool- but it’s just too much for me 😭

Crates are the best thing ever. Nice ideas here! I may try to go without insulation one summer and see if I really do need to tear out my conversion van interior to add insulation. I plan to only use it when temps are above freezing but summers here in the Midwest can get hot, though cooler at night.

Zip-tying sturdy stacked milk crates together & then zip-tying them to the van 🚐 wall is a good idea 💡.The message tables are a good idea too, plenty of storage underneath & some you can adjust the head area to sit up at a angle. Good low-budget set-up & thank you for sharing 😊👍👍👍

You know the grocery store gives those crates back to the dairy companies. They leave them in the back so the delivery driver can take them to be reused 😅

Too bad you guys were not coming up to Southeast Oregon. We're just outside of Nevada border we would let you use the the tools you need build your van we're getting ready to start van live next year. But we're keeping our 20 and 1/2 acre off grid Farm. I really appreciate seeing all the storage too. Like...so many actual builds in the larger vans are great and all, but there's hardly any storage!
I keep thinking of doing something like this for myself but not include the bed. And use the space on the floor used for walking where I'd place like...tatami mats and a bed roll, or something, to maximize *all* space.

Yes, test run is perfect. We are currently doing no build for traveling (but the hubby also still needs to have an empty van for work) So each trip I find, "Hmm, that doesn't work so well" or "OH, this is better!". When we finally do a full build I think the kinks will be worked out!

Wow you're the first couple talking that openly about stuff like sex in the van and what I found most interesting, better sleep which is something that my dogs and I miss for a very long time now. I'm always wondering what it is that keeps us from good sleep and I simply can't find it out so I often thought about just buying a van and trying it out 🤷🏻♀️ but up until now I haven't been courageous enough somehow. Something that's keeping me from doing it is the budget but I often thought about just buying a van and get started without budget just by trying to find some easy things to just put inside. So you kinda made me think about this again! So Thank you for sharing your experiences!!!
Heck yeah Glad we can help with this video Kat and Zack are great people and show that this life is possible for any budget. Love the fact they talked about sex which can be an important topic for some. We made a video about that also. Sounds like you need to find some quite places in the wood to get that good night sleep. I love their build. I plan to keep mine as simple as possible. No building at all. I just want insulation and the smallest amount of electric possible to charge my phone and computer and the rest will look like I'm living in a tent and one wall be left expose for the most part, so I can hang magnetic shelves and that's it. oh and battery operated fairy lights everywhere.

That guy reminds me of my brother Jeff (5/17/73--2/12/92). Anyway, IV been looking at van life videos and I love them, and I get super excited at the thought of traveling and living in the van, but then feel let down bc I don't have any skills to build, plus I'm a cancer patient, time's a wastin'! This one has given me a new perspective and some hope bc I can do that much. I can zip tie crates together. I can put my bed in there. For sure, thank you!!!

Massage table as a bed is actually a great idea - good, firm surface that can be padded up but still really good for your back!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this NO BUILD Van!!!. I think it looks fabulous and expresses your uniqueness. How does the condensation work for you on the roof/celing. Any problems with rust being that the roof is not insulated? Thanks
This was a tour of a friend's van. Check the description for their information if you'd like to reach out. Glad you enjoyed it. But to try to answer your question as long as the metal isn't exposed you won't have rust. What that means is you wouldn't get rust in a normal van unless you cut into the van and don't prime and paint the cut metal.

Keep your head room by adding a "deck" on the top that provides shade to the roof. All you need is an inch or so of air gap, and the decking can be solar panels, deck boards, or even something as simple and light as thin plywood that's been weather-sealed. I have 1"x12" x 10ft boards on my roof with solar panels over that and the shade makes a big difference.

Edit : I forgot to mention that you can buy a scrap piece of linoleum for a few bucks to put down on the floor instead of a sheet for easier sweeping.

Maybe a washable rug (like a rag rug) that you can just take out and shake or clean at the laundry mat.

I use magnetic usb rechargeable lights i can moce anywhere and dont need to run wire to them. Jackery 1000 and 2000 batt units, limited build Promaster HR VAN. Swivels seats add so much space! I dont have a partition

I don't think I'd have the dog underneath during the Winter; you might consider one of those heated pet pads or just a USB controlled heat throw, that would be just enough for her to sleep on and snuggle with on a low setting. You could probably power it through a small solar power bank.

I’ve seen many van builds and walk through with expensive build outs or none like yours. The one thing I don’t see addressed is how you lock the door when you are inside if you can’t get to the front seat.
Our key fob has a lock button on it so we push that
When I watch van videos and they say I've spend 10 or 5 grand on my build I always think we're have you spend that amount of money ..

what we try to show case on the channel are all kinds of build from almost no money to 2000 to 5000 dollars and more expensive rvs and van. Van life is what you make it. This is our build and the time laspe we made of what it takes to build one yourself. I do want to stress Alex and I only have one van of prior experience when it comes to this type of building. Previous we had 0.

Dimmer lights, two way fan, solar, three way switches, 🤣🤣🤣, loved your personalities and practical approaches, I am amazed at the number of lights in vans when they rather small, like very over engineered.

I love your van, I would like to get a van like yours and do a no build. It may not need to be as big as yours I'm only 5-2" and it's just me and my dog. I am looking at doing this in maybe 3 to 5 years from now once I get some things paid off. I don't plan on living in my van 100%...I plan on retiring in just under 10 years and want to have the van 100% ready to go so I can take a retirement trip (not sure where yet). I love the outdoors and beach, lakes, mountains and I just want a way to see the country and it not cost me 10's of thousands of dollars to see. Happy Trails...be safe and "Enjoy the Ride" after all Life is a Journey...so enjoy the scenery.

@@FnAVanLife Thank you, the more I research van life and traveling across the country the more excited I get. I need to look into safety tips on how to stay safe and protective devices not a gun but other things. And hopefully I will never have to use them.
