    Another great video! I use a Z6II for real estate, separating indoor and outdoor shooting between the U1 and U2 options. I can't overstate how much easier this makes my job. I set U3 to macro for fun bug and flower shooting between jobs. On the Z9, I split the banks among indoor sports, outdoor sports and wildlife, and a third for exterior wedding work. For the Z6III, I set U1 for wedding interiors, U2 for wedding exteriors, and U 3 for macro (ring shots and other detail closeup). The time I've spent fine-tuning and saving these presets is very much worth the effort. Keep doing what you do, Hudson!

    Thank you Hudson. As alway terrific help. So far the z6iii is a great companion to Z9 and a major improvement to original Z6. Perfect knock around camera- glad I was patient.

    Hudson, greatly appreciate all you work and time in making the Z6iii a more user friendly camera. I'm excited to start to use this amazing camera ( my 8th Nikon). Look forward to your next video. You are the best.

    Great tips here! Appreciate your time & effort on these setup vids.
    Question, what's the ISO higher gain setting on the Z8/9? And Zf? You mention 800 here for the Z6III. Never knew / great tip!

      500 for the 8&9. 400 for the 7 & 850. All the 6 varients are 800. There's a free preview video on my milky way course in the store that discusses this. :)

    Hi Hudson, your content is unmatched. Where can I get the Arca mount for the cage? Thanks for all the insight and guidance.

      Any will do. I'm using a Luma Labs one I love, but They've ceased to exist sadly... I'd consider something like these: amzn.to/3SqFhX1

      @@HudsonHenryPhoto I recently purchased a Z6iii. I have a Z6ii and wanted better subject auto focus and bought the Z6iii. I hear so much about DR and wonder did I make a wise decision. I am new and still learning. I like portraits, architecture and street photography. Can you give me any suggestions/opinion? I own some decent Z lenses: 50 F1.2S, 35 F1.8S, 24-70 F2.8 and F4S, 14-30 f4S, 105 F2.8 Macro S, 70-200 2.8 E lens for F mount. I appreciate you and thanks in advance.

    Thank you again for the step-by-step instructions. Question on the AF setting, specifically on the Custom Controls LFn, 3D AF-on setting. When assigned to lens Fn button, do you have to press and hold the button the entire time when tracking a bird (or another subject)? Been using BBF on DSLRs for a long time, but with so many options, I'm a bit confused on some of the advanced af options. Thanks in advance.

    • @HudsonHenryPhoto
      @HudsonHenryPhoto  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You do hold the AF-ON, or Display in action mode for Auto Area, but you can pass it off to the LFn's 3D tracking and hold that down to track. At that point you can release the back button with your thumb.

      Thank you. In the adrenaline of capturing a bif, just want to make sure. You know, finally nailing that swooping eagle in action, and desperately trying to (unnecessarily) hold down multiple buttons. Thanks again for clarifying.

    I recently came across your profile after purchasing a Z6 III and have loved your content so far. Thank you for all the effort you put into your videos. I have finished watching this video and am about halfway through the Full Menu Walkthrough video. You might mention it at the end of that video, so apologies if I haven't gotten to it yet, but I'm curious: does the full menu walkthrough settings file include all of the settings you discussed here as well? I want to make sure that if I load one, I don't need to load the other. Thanks in advance!

    All those U1,U2 and U3 customer modes are great but being a Nikon Z9 user and so used to using the recall shooting function makes it really hard to go back to having to turn a dial in order to access to a complete different shooting setting. A press of a button is just so much quicker. Also I realize that every time you are in U1 or U2 U3 mode you have to save every time you adjust the setting, it is just too inconvenient. Z9 and Z8 you can change the recall shooting function setting and it will remember. I just hope Nikon can update this. A button to change to another shooting setting and remember the new setting when you are in U mode instead of having to save every single time.

    Hudson as usual interesting and useful. One query if you have no function button on the lens how would you hand off to 3d tracking. I also use a second u setting for birds but with the settings raised for 1 1/2 stops for using a 1.4 teleconverter but with all other bird settongs the same

    • @HudsonHenryPhoto
      @HudsonHenryPhoto  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't imagine shooting action with something smaller than the 24-120, but if using a legacy lens, you'd just have to pick a front funciton button to sacrifice I suppose.
