    IMPORTANT - always put some Copperslip onto your adjustment screws before fitting! It's also a good idea to paint the tips of the adjustment screws in Day-Glo paint, so your MoT tester won't go turning the wrong screws to tweak headlamp alignment.

    We're in the "not a fan" camp. They do genuinely look nice on some Defenders, but regardless of that this kind of look is not something we prefer for these older styled vehicles. But each to their own of course. I am sure they will at least perform better than the standard lamps anyway!

    I'd be interested to hear / see how much better these lights are than the originals on a dark wet night.

    I'm currently in the process of purchasing a TD4 which does need some work. I stumbled across this channel and...love it, very helpful and interesting - especially for a Landy noob like me. You've got yourself a new sub, thanks for the great content!

    I wanted headlights that looked as ‘stock’ as possible, so went with the Trucklite units.

    With winter on the horizon I decided to keep my headlights standard otherwise snow would build up on them as LEDs run cold. The LED headlights with heating elements are silly money.

      Yeah that's very true. Can be an issue but luckily we don't get severe snow here too often.

    Another thing to be aware of is that, I think in all cases, the LED lamp units are around 2cm smaller diameter than the factory standard headlamp units. This means you'll have something like a 1cm gap between the plastic trim and your new LED headlamps.
    When I fitted my LED headlamps, a few years ago now, I managed to purchase some new trims with a smaller diameter cutout that neatly fits around the smaller LED units. Don't ask where I got them from, as it was about 7 years ago. An alternative is to fit plastic strip or even LED 'daylight running' strip around suitable replacement lamps. Maybe, today, someone sells an appropriately-sized trim 🤷‍♂️ ?

      These ones now are direct replacement, same size. I think some earlier units were designed for moptorcycles so were a little smaller. These just slot straight in - perfect size.

    I am planning to buy a pair of lights and signal. How good are the Wipac ones, s7099? Do you ship to romania? If so what’s the shipping cost and the taxes ? Thank you!

    It's my understanding that the law requires DRL's to be wired via a relay so that they turn off when dip beam is turned on but may stay on with main beam. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    They look very good, do you need to change any of the electric feeds to use the LED lamps, relays or similar. Chris B.

    Are the halo lights the Britpart model? LR parts already stock and sell them. I believe you said these were pre-sale test units? Or did i misunderstand

    • @LRLiveUK
      @LRLiveUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These aren't the Britpart ones but they are very similar. Possibly from a different manufacturer.

    Hello there I'm seeing "Spec: NOT For Vehicles with Electric Headlamp Levelling - KA922615 (approx 1992) onwards
    Equivalent to Part No: DA1158". Which my defender is. If that's the case, what rings/mounts do I use?

      Hey@@LRLiveUK. No, Puma Defender 2009. Took down the lights the other day as one was getting dim. Turns out I just need the regular bezel. It has a slot for the levelling motor.

    Hi, what did you connect up electrically with the little fly lead on the LHS lamp before connecting the main connector up?

    • @LRLiveUK
      @LRLiveUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wire simply Tee'd off the main beam feed to to some foglights I presume. Not an issue to feed the LED as the draw is so low for LED>

    Hi, are they legal for road use?

    • @rickbear7249
      @rickbear7249 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, providing you fit a complete LED upgrade including the LED Reflector. It's people who just fit a replacement LED bulb WITHOUT an LED reflector that are illegal.

    • @LRLiveUK
      @LRLiveUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wasn't aware of that. The lamps are all E marked to conform with DVLA.

    • @rickbear7249
      @rickbear7249 ปีที่แล้ว

      @LRLiveUK The reason you need to fit a complete replacement unit - bulb + reflector - is that Halogen/Tungsten bulbs and LED bulbs require differently shaped reflectors. If you simply put one of those LED "replacement" bulbs into the factory standard housing (with the standard Halogen reflector) you won't get good road illumination and you'll blind oncoming drivers.
      Also, although I cannot remember the precise details, it is specified that you can legally fit certain USA (and other) type approval marked complete lamp units as alternatives to those with the 'E' type approval mark. You'd need to read the latest registrations to verify this.
