thanks for watching! I already got the new wedge on the way, Westcoast saw where very nice to send me a new wedge for free! I will make a video on hanging this axe head with no problems.
Watching guilty of treesons video hanging with Jeff Schroeder is one of the best clips to learn how to haft a axe. Hope they get easier & better over time. Very nice axe head 🤙
If you hammer the palm swell you might be able to get the head down far enough to just pull the wedge and use it again . This is a good reason not to use glue lol . Get em next time
I think alot of your issue is that ideally you don't want your head to easily seat all the way down. You want it to slide on till about an inch, inch and a half from where it needs to seat, and then use a rubber mallet on the end of the handle to work the head the rest of the way. Your head was so loose on the handle that pounding the wedge caused it to slide back up.
You are correct, it's a learning curve..
We've all made these mistakes and learning is teaching!

yeah, i ended up finding the problem though it was just because i forgot to set the head with my mallet.
