Hey Mangs, just saw you analysed this match. It was super intense, I'm happy if people learn things of it. I really put all of my brain on it, and yeah, the result is quite cool. There is some nostalgia coming up too, I discovered AWBW with your videos, and I became slowly better and better, and I'm happy to see with this sort of match that I progressed, even if there is still a lot to learn. So yeah, GGWP to RIP, he was totally able to exploit correctly the breach. You, reading my comment, can you find any bludder RIP did ? No, because RIP_ doesn't blunder things, it's terrifying in a way ahah. So after the first SCOP, it was not possible to catch up with a mistake he could have been doing. Next time, the AA will be less exposed to give free SCOP >:) (for those who are interested in more technical questions about this match, Elagatua just did a video on it. Mangs show correctly what is happening here, but Elagatua go into deeper considerations (...taking also 2h on it))
If we ever get a good naval map in rotation, he better improve his editing since odds are high that the edges of the map are going to be ocean tiles...
You need to be careful covering the corner tile. laska had a copter in the opposite corner. Could have been a bad situation for us viewers if the roles were reversed. Jk
The old Laska video was the video that started me watching both your channel and Advanced Wars By Web content overall. Stunned to see Laska playing Rip at this level after all this time. Thanks Mangs.
Spoilers... Sometimes a game is lost because of a bad play and sometimes it is won by a good play. This is one of those matched where it was won by a good play. Laska didn't really do anything wrong after doing everything right and rip saw an opportunity a lot of other players wouldn't. Great match!
Your energy is unmatched, Mangs. I opened up the video, saw the GIGANTIC smile on your face and couldn't help but immediately like the video. You're a gem, love the content! Would love a review of some high level Wargroove games if you were ever interested in that!
Laska's MAIN mistake was not retreating his original North army further east. Once that army got clobbered with Rip's 1st Block-Rock, Laska was on the backfoot. SCOP/COP make and break games in AW. Here a good SCOP broke Laska's MUCH superior opening phase.
Yeah, there was a huge cost in forcing SCOP, it basically resulted in a window of opportunity for Laska to push on South - part of rip's comeback is due to this opportunity not being fully realized while there were next to none units in that area.
WOW what a game. Absolutely beautiful, rip_ misplaying by being too conservative with his plays and having to then nab victory from the jaws of defeat is such a rip_ thing to do. Also maybe from now on with him watching and rewatching this match, we'll be seeing EVEN more transports from him in fog matches? A woman can dream
An underrated aspect of this match that definitely permeates on all AWBW matches is positional advantage paired with SCOP. Laska had immense income lead that in turn grants immense value lead that in turn grants area control almost the entire game, but all Rip catches up with the first Block Rock, reversing the value lead in that turn and the subsequent turns, the property lead in mere few days, and the area control for the rest of the game (Rip's front shift turns into a deathball, Laska's turns into front neglect with how barren his comm tower area was at the end), or in other words, when it MATTERS. Thanks for the casting, egg!
I feel like, if Laska had continued pushing against rip's first northern attack after they crushed it, it would had denied rip the time to coalesce his forces in the center and launch a major push a few turns later, but really both played amazingly well and you're right: the deciding factor here was rip's ability to get his block rock precisely when he wanted to, and beat Laska to the punch.
This match gave me more appreciation for nuanced energy management. Not only did a timely sacrifice reverse Rip into leading the order on SCOP, which gave him the first strike advantage, but it also afforded him two additional advantages. First, it forced Laska into a position where he was activating his SCOP into Rip's already power boosted units, diminishing his power's benefit. Second, any unit value that exceeds the power meter max is just lost energy value and Rip was able to overflow Laska's energy significantly whenever he delta striked with his block rocks. I've been playing AW for a long time, but seeing a pro pull off such a nuanced and counterintuitive sacrifice play to shift the energy dynamic like that is truly humbling.
Wow what a amazing game Lasha played very well but Rip just played perfectly from the start. He split his forces 50-50 a risk putting him behind by 6 properties. Made scary engagements in the south pressuring Lasha to send more forces to south and right after that sent 90% of his force completely giving up in the south doing a devastating block rock push to the north Snagging back the advantage then waiting in the center waiting for another block rock to win the game
So I'm clearly not good enough for this, Idk if I'm right but here's my analysis x) Rip's first block rock completly destroyed the game for Laska. You said that his block rock was a solid counter attack, but really it was underwhelming. For the north, only two tanks out of 6, one aa and one copter whose remplacement was one turn short of ready. The firepower was welcomed on the south side, but he didn't profit much of it since he couldn't cap right away, contrary to rip who quickly take back the cities. At most, we could say that Laska destroyed as much units than rip but it still wasn't enough at all, both in value and also strategic. I feel like Laska may have made a bit much artillery in early game, who couldn't really answer after the wall break. But let's be honest, sacking a copt and made two others bad engagements to get the super isn't really something you're planning around. The laska neotank could have been the solution but Rip planned that ahead. The first strike was really bad for Laska. And later, he did try to throw his neotank as a bait with the artillery able to shoot rip's neotank that he anticipated. Sadly it didn't work since rip was able to scout with the damaged copt and wall break with the damaged bomber, it was a really good move. Tbh, to me it illustrates how the first superpower strike and superpower strike for their buff in def are still important. Counter attack is a thing for sure, but I feel this game wasn't a good example of that. Anyways, I really wanted Laska to win by his aggressive capture and forcing rip to react, but rip was actually able to respond. Congrats to rip and a hard GG to Laska, it was a great game
I'd agree with that. Throwing in that Laska was overambitious going for the islands. He sunk a lot into a BB that did very little, and his Tcopter ended up wasting turns because of it. He really needed to focus on holding properties and preparing for the blockrock. Instead of spreading out so much on the north just to get 1 more city.
@@Keeki95 going for the islands was good, since it did divert a Bcopter in reaction, I agree about the BB tho. I do believe that it wasn't easy to anticipate the sacking, but you're right about how he spread his units for one city, the wall was very thin with at most two units wide. Well three at some points, but the front was mixed with vehicles and severals locations had plains tiles to shoot it from.
Most competitive maps look like they have the style of Toy Box from Advance Wars 2, but this one kinda works. Maybe because it's an island? Either way, it looks neat!
Laska already lost after that first Block Rock from Rip_. Laska got too frivolous with his transport purchases, just 19,500 gold down the drain, when it could have been spent making more units to maintain the momentum. What you need against a good SCOP from your enemy is unit count to bounce back, not transports. Because he bought transports he didn't have the unit count to bounce back. Sure you can quickly send new units to the front, but there's so few of them that you're just sending them piecemeal by piecemeal, just to die in the meat grinder.
Before I even watched the match, I thought "Whoever pops Block Rock first is gonna win this one." That B Copter sacrifice was probably the play of the game.
Its very nice that you put your arm back in front of the corner of the map... .... .... Ok, thats enough arm, now i want to see the corner of the map. Lmao
10:24 That bluff is so interesting because rip_ is abusing Laska's good game sense to trick him into thinking a tank is in range. A weaker player might just attack into it baboon style, which would actually be the optimal play here. However, losing a recon to a tank is just too great a risk for Laska, and so he goes for the predictable safer route.
Mangs I think you need to do something about your arm covering very important tiles of the map, please take actions inmediatly. Thanks for another awbw video.
Mangs, if you block the map, I can't see it. If you don't block the map, then something is missing. You should swap whether you cover the map or not every frame, to truly give everyone what they want
Epic comeback from the Greatest Advance Wars Player of all time. Rip is like Magnus Carlson but in Advance Wars. Congrats to Rip and LaskaLarnar did hold himself well for an while.
ahh nice to have andy theme after the kartal chinese kanbei clone andy video jake mirrors can be boring cheers for showing another rip video always lovely to see these games mangs^^
Wow. When I saw how behind rip_ was I thought it was over but... What a comeback. Never underestimate how much a player of such a level can get out of a SCOP.
I have an idea Mangs. How about you only block the bottom right tile every other video. This way you can make everyone unhappy, which would make me very happy.
They play so identical both offensively and defensively. It just seems whoever is player 1 in this mirror match just gets the advantage because they can Block Rock first, and only get hit back by a weakened counter Block Rock.
Player 1 is no more likely to get Block Rock first than player 2 on a balanced map like this. Rip_ simply outplayed Laska with that sacrificial B-copter.
Mangs I want to point out that sometimes the army values were not updated immediately, and in the beginning of the video it was visible the end stats for Laskar, which kind of spoiled the result if you notice it. I don't know if is the extension but just to let you know. Amazing match though!
Mangs my OCD is triggered by the fact that you block one corner of the map. Can you put yourself upside down and flipped in the top left corner, so you block both corners in rotational symmetry please?
Hey Mangs, just saw you analysed this match. It was super intense, I'm happy if people learn things of it. I really put all of my brain on it, and yeah, the result is quite cool.

Mangs I can't see the ocean tile with your arm in the way
If we ever get a good naval map in rotation, he better improve his editing since odds are high that the edges of the map are going to be ocean tiles...
Mangs I can’t see your arm as the ocean tile is in the way.
absolutely unwatchable
I love this community! XD
You need to be careful covering the corner tile. laska had a copter in the opposite corner. Could have been a bad situation for us viewers if the roles were reversed. Jk
With Mangs half covering the bottom corner with his body, it feels like this is a General showing off his war room battleplans.
Imagine if he has one of those big tables to display the full maps for planning along with the figures like those generals in war movies
April fool's prank idea: Casting an entire game, but Bwangs covers the entire map and only the corners are actually visible
I love your idea
Mangs is where the map is, and the map is in the corner covering mangs elbow.
That or make a map that spells out Mangs shoulder: with the bottom right corner covered in many, many pipe seams.
chroma key the map replay onto himself
Mangs arm is my favourite unit.
shoalgate
what if theres an important uni there
3:25 NOOO, SHOW TWO JAKES PLEASE, MY OCD IS KILLING ME
😭
Watching RIP sacrifice a Battlecopter for his SCOP makes me appreciate the changes Days of Ruin made to CO powers.
TRUE
The rip_ SCP does not arrive too early or too late, that is the perception of mortal men. The rip_ SCP arrives when it is needed.
Everytime I see that I think mhm fog of war hack? :D
The old Laska video was the video that started me watching both your channel and Advanced Wars By Web content overall. Stunned to see Laska playing Rip at this level after all this time. Thanks Mangs.

I hope the Jake Game will feel better soon

SCOP/COP make and break games in AW. Here a good SCOP broke Laska's MUCH superior opening phase.
To be fair, "my enemy is going to kamikaze one of their better units in order to get meter faster" is a hard tactic to predict and counter.
Yeah, there was a huge cost in forcing SCOP, it basically resulted in a window of opportunity for Laska to push on South - part of rip's comeback is due to this opportunity not being fully realized while there were next to none units in that area.

11:21 this is a sign of a master. His comprehension of the game is so great that he understands the other commander's mind.
Laska is either extremely underrated, or extremely inconsistent. This play was way above that rating.
If you ever run a Days of Ruin tournament you should call it the Rotten Egg Cup.

22:24 has the same vibes as Levi's "and he sacrifices... THE ROOOOOOOOOOOOK"
Ditto matches are interesting to see.
Really shows how each person plays a given character and the playstyle differences therein.

Mangs! You're covering the corner! 😂

No way I rewatched one of your old chosin reservouir replays today (starflash vs getgood). I guess, I am ready for round 2. :D
This match was like a Rocky movie!

Holy cow. I thought Larnar had this! Elagatua needs to do a breakdown on this match. Ggs.
mangs your arms is blocking the bottom left of the screen
Most competitive maps look like they have the style of Toy Box from Advance Wars 2, but this one kinda works. Maybe because it's an island? Either way, it looks neat!
As Jake would say: "Yo what's up that game was way sick yo, that rip superpower was hella wild yo!"
What a BEAUTIFUL game!
Back and forth, such a great match! Really cool to see the comeback. Both played really good! The Copter sack though!
Someone got owned!
At least that is what Jake would say in the campaign, he was always how do you do fellow kids lol.
I swear, Rip is checking every single protag requirement lol, the Protag vs the tournament second that came back for revenge haha
I am always happy to Mangs cover more advanced wars.... map tiles with his arm.
Time for the Mang's Elbow / Bottom corner of map Ship
A Jake match without his theme is criminal
Laska already lost after that first Block Rock from Rip_. Your commentary made me want to learn the game and unit stats... then YT reccomended vids by you on this!!
Such a stellar match. I can't find the words
I was rooting for laska.
That _rip comeback was absolutely devilish
That last Block Rock was fucking brutal, It could be seen as soon as the Beatdown was popped
I wasn’t expecting to see LaskaLander today.
Before I even watched the match, I thought "Whoever pops Block Rock first is gonna win this one." That B Copter sacrifice was probably the play of the game.
Its very nice that you put your arm back in front of the corner of the map...

Ok, thats enough arm, now i want to see the corner of the map. Lmao
Get well soon, Jake :(
I am a fan of the Mangs Unintended Cinematic universe, also known as the M.U.C.u.
that was nuts. laska did great. honestly thought he had it. rip is insane.
Hell yeah, this is the map corner blocking I signed up for.
10:24 That bluff is so interesting because rip_ is abusing Laska's good game sense to trick him into thinking a tank is in range. Yeah, I definitely would have baboon'd ☠️
22:22 Day18 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
The arm is back... WE WON PEOPLE
rip is such a fun player to follow along
My jaw dropped so hard that I pulled a muscle on that battle copter sac
rip plays like he has maphack, his game sense is insane
Man, Rip is down 5k income already. Surely he loses, right?
He is also down on value and unit count, sounds like a resign territory.
Mangs elbow covering the corner again! Feels like home.
White Egg Army!
This was an intense match! Such an incredible comeback! Rip has truly mastered fog of war.
Hey Mangs, I can see that reef in the bottom corner, please cover it up with your arm, it scares me.
So used to watching several month old videos instead of few minute fresh ones
Mangs I think you need to do something about your arm covering very important tiles of the map, please take actions inmediatly.
Thanks for another awbw video.
What an insane player Rip is, Laska played really well but that comeback was just brutal
Mangs your arm isn't covering all the corners, just one. It is very distracting to have all the corners visible.
What a strange nostalgic game you're casting there. What was it called? Days of Unruining? Days of Ruinlessness? I'm sure it'll come to me.
8:10 Laska doesn't take the risk of harassing the infantry with the recon. If he had, the recon would have gotten several days of free hits.
Mangs, if you block the map, I can't see it.
If you don't block the map, then something is missing.
You should swap whether you cover the map or not every frame, to truly give everyone what they want
Rip is becoming an Advanced Wars Hero lol
I'm a fan of Laska after that game. Excellent match.
I genuinely sat up at rip's 2nd Block rock, this was an incredible match
Dang I love rip_ fog gameplay replays from Mangs
>Didn't use more slang in the title. Owari da
inb4 mangs alternates between blocking and unblocking the corner of the map every other video based on contradicting comments
Dont taunt me with that logo. Im still hoping we might get another battalion wars.
Mangs I can't see the ocean tile with your arm in the way :C
My favorite map
Regards, Olaf/Drake main
oh deejus also covered laska before, I remember because of the goofy way he kept saying his name
Always liked Jake in dualstrike. I typically picked the direct attack skills and the 10% damage in trees as a teen. ^^;
Best jake game fr fr no cap
Wow. When I saw how behind rip_ was I thought it was over but... What a comeback. Never underestimate how much a player of such a level can get out of a SCOP.
Mangs could you make a video on how to get started on tiny wars? I'm overwhelmed by the UI and could use some help.
I prefered with the full Map displayed ...
larnaur cleeyar
This taking forever to end stuff is exactly why I'd only ever play live league.
Another rip_ game. This must be good.
You know what would have made this game more sick?
If both players were Jess.
Transport is a great move. In TF2, the most valuable thing you can do is build a teleporter. Cutting down on respawn time is broken.
Up!
Have you heqrd of Tecot? Its the biggest map I’ve seen
I have an idea Mangs. How about you only block the bottom right tile every other video. This way you can make everyone unhappy, which would make me very happy.
How am i supposed to see the cool frame with that huge egg in the way?
Get the plates
They play so identical both offensively and defensively. It just seems whoever is player 1 in this mirror match just gets the advantage because they can Block Rock first, and only get hit back by a weakened counter Block Rock.
Player 1 is no more likely to get Block Rock first than player 2 on a balanced map like this. Rip_ simply outplayed Laska with that sacrificial B-copter.
If RIP_ loses to transports, itd be ironic. Amazing match not spoiling anything 😊
I like Jake gameplay if only for his music.
Wildest game I've ever seen!
Never happy show us the corner lol
Mangs I want to point out that sometimes the army values were not updated immediately, and in the beginning of the video it was visible the end stats for Laskar, which kind of spoiled the result if you notice it. I don't know if is the extension but just to let you know. Amazing match though!
Mangs my OCD is triggered by the fact that you block one corner of the map. Can you put yourself upside down and flipped in the top left corner, so you block both corners in rotational symmetry please?
