I really hate how many outlets refer to The Orville as a Star Trek spoof. It isn't. It's an homage with a slightly lighter tone. And even after 3 seasons it's still fighting to get noticed by serious fans. It's really frustrating, but I'm glad that you've found and appreciate it.

So "The Orville" is behind a video streaming service paywall, like any show that might upset sponsors or doesn't push The Message. Oh well, at least non-streamers got two seasons of good SF.
Man season 2 is great and then you get to season 3. It just is an amazing adventure that truly stands on its own I’m a huge Star Trek fan since tng all the way to about lower decks.

Hope you watch the entire series! I've been looking for a good reaction channel watching it for a while, great to see it being enjoyed. They do cut down on the jokey tone a bit later on, it's a great show especially if your a fan of og Trek looking for something that's not new Trek
Yes...that's exactly what I need...New trek that isn't trek. Huge fan of trek...seen almost all of it...except the last season of Picard. So I'm definitely going to watch all of this I can tell already.
My brother had suggested this show. While I was going to watch it before, I really didn’t know when I was going to. So when he suggested it, I did watch it. And I’ll tell you, I loved it! It was funny. And it’s one way for someone to get me to watch Star Trek. I prefer to watch this over family guy, I did sort of see family guy, wasn’t a big fan of it. So, this is one series I really enjoy.
No one but me was hooked after blowing a starship out of space with a tree????!!!!!!????!!! Best pilot episode, best pilots, best cast, best writing and delivery ever. Wished they kept it going.
The Orville! What a nice surprise! This is my favourite not-Trek Trek XD Easy to love this when Discovery was such an atrocity... XD I think the first two seasons are great and fun. The third one... I don't like as much. But still 100 times better than Discovey XD Also, I do feel the pilot here is trying a little too hard to be Wash from Firefly. Not a bad example to follow, though
Ah that's a great comparison to Firefly I hadn't thought of...ot a bad example to follow you're right. In fact I'd be glad for someone to pick up that mantle. I'm glad you're into it as I liked it alot.
It was/is an excellent show. Seth is obviously a fan. When they tone down the humor a bit, it was even more like the Next Generation of NextGen. I know of more Star Trek fans who are Orville fans than Discovery or Picard fans. The season scheduling is a pain, though. When there is a two to three year delay between seasons, a show tends to lose momentum. I would guess that's one of the main reasons why a new season (last I heard) was still classified as "iffy."
I'm definitely going to see it through. I like it...and can tell I will like it more. And you're right the fans are enthusiastic about it and that's really fun.
I also recommend that you also watch The Simpsons Movie, Ratatouille, Up, Elf, Click, Night At The Museum trilogy, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Independence Day, Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, The Mummy (1999), The Mummy Returns, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, The Scorpion King, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Jason Bourne (2016), Men In Black 12&3, Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, The Dark Knight trilogy
This show when it first came out in my opinion it was on par with the originals and supernatural definitely more memorable then what Disney seems to be doing with Star Wars I’m really surprised it only got 3 seasons

The first two seasons were funnier. Then Hulu got it and went New Horizons, so it's a little different. They're STILL on the fence on having a season 4. Typical, it just doesn't matter. TV execs are all the same. They just don't get it.
I've been waiting for someone to do this show. And the first season does get goofy at times. Season 3 is when Hulu revived the show and everything from visuals to story takes a huge leap. You will love it

New Horizons is season 3. The show gets better every season. Gets more serious

im not such a great fan of the humor in this show, but the stories they tell are really good.
