This state park is in a marsh & close to Louisiana. You seem to have issues with mosquitoes. I understand. Take a good look around. Of course there’s going to be a mosquito infestation. I suggest you take a trip out to west Texas to big bend state park if you are looking for a state park without mosquitoes. Good luck. I hope you will be able to locate a state park that suits your requirements.

i don't have a problem with mosquitos. I have a problem with 1000s of them, even in the sun and wind.
I have camped many times in Texas State Parks. Growing up I would spend part of every summer in the Rio Grand Valley with relatives at Port Isabel.
I have traveled, to and camped on, South Padre Island more times than I can count.

This was beyond any mosquito problem I have ever experienced.
You are accurate when you use the word "infestation." How do you find that acceptable?

Texas has 90 State parks. I have camped at perhaps half of then. Many of them more than once.

I have camped at Goose Island SP twice, once in the Spring, and once in the Summer. You might think that mosquitos would be a problem there, but nope. Inks Lake SP, Lake Whitney SP, Meridian SP, Possum Kingdom, Ray Roberts SP, Cedar Hill SP, Tyler SP, Fort Richardson SP, Cleburne SP, Fort Parker SP, Galveston Island SP, Port Aransas SP, are others on the water I have enjoyed many times and NEVER seen mosquito "infestations" like this. Don't try to paint what happens at Sea View as normal and acceptable.

I have never written a bad review for a Texas State Park, until Sea Rim.

I would never take my family there.
The mosquito issue was the joke among the campers and the staff there. The ranger told us that sometimes the mosquitos aren't so bad, but that usually means that they are having a drought. "When that happens we get bad biting flies.”

One couple put it this way when describing the mosquitos INSIDE the camper. "Our camper looks like a crime scene from all the blood from the mosquitos we smashed." Another couple said, "At some point it starts becoming a sport. We started having a contest on how many we could kill with one hit."

"We had to sleep with the sheets over our faces, inside of the camper." said another family.
When we were trying to leave early in the morning, the mosquitos were hovering to leap into the car by the 1000s. They were a dark cloud of mosquitos ready to fly in. Driving down the road, to get away from that area, as quickly as possible, it was scary to breath. With every breath they went up your nose.”

BTW- I love Davis Mountains State Park. I would go there any time.

Also, La Fleurs Bluff State park is an actual swamp. I have been there twice and would love to go back again.

Nothing compares to the hell hole that is Sea Rim SP.

Don't take your family there unless you are OK with mosquitos constantly infesting your camper.
      ("Infestation" is your word.)

@ I’m curious, what month was you visiting the Sea Rim State Park. Mosquitoes are terrible in certain conditions (after rain showers & after dark & also around swamps & marshes). When the conditions are sunny & cooler & when there’s a breeze blowing outside the mosquitoes usually aren’t as bad. Maybe the mosquitoes won’t be nearly as bad in the winter months (as in December, January & February). I am heading that way in January, 2025. I will give you an update on the mosquito forecast. Were you able to get any fishing done?

Please let me know what you experience in January.
We were there in the Summer.
In November of '23, , We made a trip to Quintana Park, down by Surf Side, on the southern end of Galveston Island.
This place is famous for their mosquitos.

However, they were only bad in the shade, or when there was no breeze. There were none on the beach. This is the normal situation with mosquitos. The mosquitos in Quintana, were gigantic, but behaved like normal.
With Sea Rim, there was no safe location. There was plenty of sun and wind. They didn't care. I have never seen anything like it. There were 1000s, all engorged with blood.

Your video made me smile. We had the exact same experience at this state park and have not returned.

We went beach fishing there today and had zero issues with mosquitoes. But SETX has had a lot of rain recently, so the mosquitos have been relentless across the entire area. This is the worst they have been in a long time. Last year was the complete opposite.

Did you have much wind today? i have found that wind and sun on the beach will help some.
But when we were there no amount of wind would keep them off. It was unbelievable.

How is the wade fishing? Were you able to keep your lines tight with redfish, flounder, specs & black drum?

    Sounds like Texas! Lol

To a degree, yes. However, typically if you are in the sun, or near the shore, with some kind of breeze, the will leave you alone. This was not the case. They would attack you in full sun and a 15MPH wind.
They would also hover around your RV, or car door, in the 1000's just waiting for you to open the door.

Hey, if you don't believe me, just Google the subject of "mosquitos at Sea Rim State Park". You will find many videos or reviews that talk about how bad the problem is.
This review was in December. They talk about mosquitos in their bathroom and even in their food.
