  • Many audio mixers like Behringer Xenyx, Phonic, Alto and so, are using a MINI DIN 3 poles power plug, that makes the contact unstable and prone to accidental disconnect follows a huge boom in whole audio chain. I found replacing with a microphone 3 poles connector with a secure screw makes it reliable and close to professional gears.

    I am not an engineer but I had never heard about a 2 times 18 V AC power supply. That company had been founded in germany cause I had seen some leaflets of just a handfull products in the early 90s.
    6:50 - I like these kinds of improvisations cause who has every size in the shop ?
    9:00 - adding lead solder to remove the solder joints might be my key issue have been cause it never did work out that fine for me.
    And I have to do a for me crazy job cause late at night when my Pico W had arrived I had soldered the 2x 20+ pin header and next morning I had looked at my work and found the solder joints great, till I realized that I had soldered them upside down !
    I guess with your way I should be able to get these joints out cause so far I had not even started cause I thought it would not work out and would be a waste of time cause I had ordered 3 or 4 spares with the first one so I did not care so much. But since then I have my famous upside down PICO W somewhere on my desktop laying around and reminding me to not solder too late in the evening and that I need to fix it sooner than later.
    Thanks for sharing.

      Yep, the input it's kind of strange for a comercial product but I had a lot of nice resuslts with preamps, EQ, tone controls which I build by the years and most of them are supplied with differential - ground+ voltages coming from 2xAC voltages, evidently with the middle secondary wire to the ground. For unsolder things it should be nice to have some low melt soldering wire, I never tried thata but at least the one I'm using it's melting around 275C, sometimes helps because the industrial soldering it's like 320 or so because lack of lead...so...good luck! And thanks for looking!

    • @viocaia

      If you apply a power switch after the transformer you need a double one, because there are two hot 18V AC and ground..you need to cut both hot ones! But a simple switch on the high voltage input will be fine.

    I have a mackie mixer which has the same voltage need as the behringer. I want to use the behringer power supply with it as the mackie power supply failed. When i cut off the ends of the power supplies i see the Mackie just has a positive and negative but i see the Behringer supply has 3 wires Yellow blue and red. So which wires to i need to connect to the positive and negative leads for the mackie connector thanks and cheers. I did hook the red to positive and blue to negative but left the yellow wire not connected is that right or should i connect the yellow wire to the positive or negative as well or just leave it not connected.

      thanks for getting back to me i guess the question can i use just the two wires as i only one set of voltages not both or at least it appears that way as mentioned i connect the red wire to the the two lead cord so as to use a different connector on the end that plugs into the mixer so is it safe to leave the yellow just covered and not in use. im guessing it also has power and that i got lucky just hooking up the red and blue and not using blue and yellow the two wired cable i did connect to has a striped wire which is usually the positive and the non striped wire is usually ground. UPon connect to the mixer it does work however there is a slight hum cheers@@viocaia

    Hi Sir! Thx for video. Mine Behringer Xenyx1202FX has a 3 transistors or something like this marked with the sign "100". Theoretically - can i switch my broken connecter with the way you did and by appliying those 3 guys back on the top? One more question please. If i buy 15V and 1A power supplies - and i will connect him to the Behringer - it will supply 2*500maH and 15V to both pins (left and right) or i need to suplly second power supplier 15V to another plug? 15V 500maH to left and 15v 500maG to right plug? Many thanks to your respond Viorel.

    • @viocaia
      @viocaia  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe those ''100'' are capacitors, you can put them back or let it go, just a filter. For the power supply this mixer works with 2x15 to 18V AC...so you need a double output of 15V AC... it can be done by two transformers with at least 15V each AC! (alternating current). Any other will not work, even DC directly, without a change in the mixer's power regulator circuit.
