    Is there a part number for the extra clips, I am looking at placing an order tonight for the 100’ and would like the extra clips

    Was it a pain moving that scaffolding every five minutes? :)

      Haha, it was definitely a pain to move the scaffolding, however it's amazing how far you can reach from the top so I didn't have to move it that often. Plus it was much better than the alternative of installing the lights at the top of a ladder!

    What a tremendous effort. Did you end up using any kind of permanent clips/mounts on them? Seems to me that time would eventually get the best of the adhesive that's on the back of the lights and they would inevitiably fall. Great work and interested more in the app/workings of the post-install to be sure. Cheers!

      Thanks!
      I used the permanent screw in clips that came with the pack. There are a few per 5m length, so you can’t use them between every light but instead secure them every 3 or 4 lights. I must admit that I’m also worried that the tape on the back of the lights might eventually fail; I’m tempted to buy more of the clips and try and put them up between each light.
      I’ve bought some different Govee outdoor lights for the garage and am working on a video of that at the moment. I’ll try and include some more detail of the app in that video.

    How many kits did you use?

    • @ianburgess525
      @ianburgess525  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a single 100ft (30m) kit. It did about 2/3rds of the house, which luckily included the front and garden sides.

    Hi great video, very informative. Are you happy with the lights? I have been considering getting them, but the lack of a proper white led light is putting me off buying. Thanks

      Thanks!
      I’ve been very happy with the lights so far. They were great fun during Halloween and the kids are looking forward to trying out the Christmas scenes soon.
      I’ve used the lights set to white as accent lights a little, but must admit that the lights are typically set to a colourful scene for us. I believe Govee have now released a ‘Pro’ version of these lights with a dedicated warm and cool white LED.

      Yea I've seen the pro version. Not available in the UK or EU unfortunately. They do seem like the perfect solution

      I’m generally very picky about the color temperature of “white” lights and much prefer the warm white, which you can never really achieve by combining RBG. But IMO Govee does a pretty decent job of allowing you to create a warm white substitute. I don’t know if most people will even use these lights other than for holiday decorations or special occasions. But I’ve been having them on every night as accent/security lights and while the color temp isn’t perfectly to my liking, it doesn’t bother me enough to be concerned about it. But mine are on a second story so they are higher up and are just a single line across the entire front of the house. In my case, I just couldn’t justify the extra cost of the PRO kit simply to have a slightly better color temp when using them as warm white. Especially when 80% of the population have no idea what color temp differences even are and wouldn’t be conscious of a difference anyway unless maybe it was pointed out to them.

    How many metres did you buy for this, the kits look expensive

    • @ianburgess525
      @ianburgess525  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got the 30m (100ft) kit. Govee also sell a 15m (50ft) pack. The kits seem to regularly be on offer from Amazon (at least in the UK). I got the 30m pack for £200.

    Im sure you already answered this , but you only used 100ft for entire house ?

    • @ianburgess525
      @ianburgess525  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      100ft did about 2/3rds of the house. Luckily our garden is to one side of the house, so I was able to cover the front and garden side with the single 100ft (30m) kit.

      Agree completely. It would have been terrifying installing these lights at the top of the ladder. I suspect it would have taken ages too!
