Mahendra Kapoor showed his versatility and amazing range in "Chand Chhupa aurctare doobe..." His modulation of voice, measured pauses, and flawless pronunciations make this one an almost perfect, and soulful rendition, and is surely one of his best songs.
It remains my all-time favorite. 🙏❤🙏

Wah!! This is very well researched n compiled by you Sir.... You have done a lot of justice to this singer who faded into oblivion n very conveniently forgotten n buried by all these event organisers who only organised shows in the name of Rafi Saab, Kishore da or Mukesh. All over the country there are several stage shows but nobody ever bothered about Mahendra Kapoor's contribution.
Being a performing artiste soon after my college days, I recall singing several of his songs on stage... To name a few , there was

I intend to add one important information about this much discussed competition . This information was disclosed by Mahendraji himself. Rafisaab had promised to Mahendra ji that if he could stand first in the competition, he would promote an air trip for sagird Mahendraji. After the success, Rafisaab took him to Kolkata by air and put up in hotel together. Rafisaab was to perform in Kolkata.There is a long story about the trip.

It was the bad guy, the producer who wanted to blackmail a simple, gentle and legendary singer dear departed Mahendra Kapoorji while on the other hand, there was a good guy also, the piano player Kesri Mistryji who helped tide our favourite Mahendra Kapoorji over!
