  • Please visit OpenSCAD.DIY3DTech.com for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode we will be we will be taking a look at the "Magic Nut Thing" as a vision that came to me in a waking dream, well in reality I was driving or something but the "waking dream" I figured would get more views.
However as they say necessity is the mother of invention and success has many fathers until they all go to the Maury Povich Show with DNA in hand. Yet this is one of those things that I did a "self" why didn't we think of this before! As the neat thing is, it is ambidextrous so nut or bolt doesn't matter as one model fits all. On top of the fact if you want to glue them in you can but don't have to and the second (containing the nut) hides the bolt from the first adding not only a nice cosmetic feature but all a safety one too!

I love your videos, but they are hard to listen to, the audio often makes my speakers clip terribly. I'm hoping you got a new mic between then and now, but I can always just mute the audio and watch the transcript. No other channels make my speakers clip tho

Hi, I did some lathe knurling at school in the 70's and as far as I know, knurling is pronounced 'nerling' That's what my metalwork teacher told us.
I've printed a guitar stand that used this this knurled pattern on the nuts and bolts, but it was a little rough on the fingers but I got to thinking that a finer pattern would be nicer, is there a way to adjust the pattern?.

I like that "nerling" and yes you can adjust it, in the video I point out the area in the code :-)

openscad doesn't care how many cores your cpu has or how many threads it can run :( even though we are in 2020 only single core performance matters. Hope we have something better then CGAL soon but I don't see anything on the horizon

Yes I totally agree! This the one major flaw in the application...
