    Shunt mod, cool man! I would also tell people to discharge the caps with a flathead screwdriver first before messing around too much inside the controller housing. I recently opened a tiny 48V controller to diagnose it and when I discharged the capacitors it let out a seriously massive spark, that wouldn't be fun to touch 👍

    The best Controller for that shunt is 35+2amp on 52v17.5 battery and 35amp fuse use 30amp it blows it does improve torgue power slightly but its good upgrade. If you have 2000 wat bike 45amp lcd sw900 set at 100 speed 52mph you can actually do a shunt on a 45amp controller and definitely get more power but up grade battery it draws a load of amps 72volt battery or I uased green wick drill battery with built in BMS 5v7amp 12batterys so if one goes fa it's a case of putting one battery in instead of buying full battery it works out much more cheaper

    I have no idea what im doing, figured id ask, how would you recommend upgrading a freego f2 pro for more torque? Im a bit of a hazard during takeoff from lights in traffic.
    Under the "battery" section of their bike specs it claims to be 48 volts, 22.5 amp hours, 1080 watt hours. I assume the battery is where the watt hour measurements come from. So the speed controller would be where the amp hour measurement comes from?
    The hub motor says 1400 watt peak, uncertain of its nominal rating.

      Ok keep me posted

    • @imho7250
      @imho7250 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hank_Reardon , if you are saying you bought a 14s Li-ion pack (52v) and want to buy another to put in series 28s, 104v nominal, 118v fully charged, then you will definitely fry everything, the controller, the display, and accessories that are wired off battery power.
      63v caps are for 48v nominal.
      80v caps aee for 60v nominal.
      100v caps are for 72v nominal.
      You can get away with 63v capacitor for a 60v Li-ion (67v peak charge) if you are lucky, eventually it will pop if the charger is left connected after the light turns green (as it should be occasionally to balance the cells).
      The other big problem is charging them, you will need to plug in two 18s li-ion chargers (or charge one then the other, taking twice as long).
      If you bought a kit with a controller, display, (dc/dc converter optional), you need to see what the supported voltage is. Many controllers and displays allow you to select 48v/60v/72v but if you plug in 117v, you will need a new display and controller.
      So if you didn’t get what you ordered you will be better off using the return policy (unless you need to pay shipping to China) and get what you want, 5000w motor, 72200 (72v controller), and 72v battery (or two side-by-side connected in parallel not in series). Even with that you might sill need to open then and upgrade them from 60a to 100a each.
      If you use just one battery you see what EbikeLife had to do to make it capable of bursts of 200a. The Chinese assembles the cells wrong so he had to bridge over the single strip series connectors because they are only good for 30a, at 60a they were getting hot, at 100a they were smoldering, and 200a they burn in half.

    I just bought a juiced bike ripcurrent and it has a 25 amp controller. Would it be safe to do this mod? I don't want to fry it because it takes a special controller and I don't think they're in stock. I know it will void the warranty but that's not a big deal to me as I can do the repairs but it's getting the parts. You can't just use any controller because of the torque sensor they use on juiced bikes. I have a phaserunner controller but it's not compatible with the torque sensor I don't think. Yes the sunt mod will help definitely in power and you would fry it. When you open the controller up make sure you see the sunts should be located in the back of the controller. And just solder them together but if you can locate them. Then the mod might be the best solution. But most low end controllers or mid range should them. You will be 50 amps then

      There's a shunt in every controller. Tells controler what amps its putting out. By adding solder. It fools controller into thinking its pushing less amps thar it actually is. But will increase heat. There's a gell you can buy to add to controler so it dissipates the heat better depending on controller it might not survive. Depends on misfits they used. Cant look that up too. But if add gell helps allot!

    • @E-bikeguy
      @E-bikeguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we'll I ordered the original controller that he had on the bike before all this happen so h3 had a 80a 3000w controller on the bike, so I did the mod to the 1000w controller and I noticed it can handle more voltage but didn't know how much so I went to 52v to 60v went to the trials to test it out and it preformed great to my surprise it didn't get hot either, it was definitely a noticeable improvement in acceleration and too speed but has nothing on his new controller.

    I killed the motor hall sensor with a controller shunt mod because the motor apparently couldn't handle that much power and got too hot.

      @E-bikeguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      What kind of motor you had on your modded controller?

    • @Bergwacht
      @Bergwacht ปีที่แล้ว

      @@E-bikeguy One of those generic China rear wheel direct drive hub motors. The one i killed was from a 1500 watt kit(35 amps).
      I'm pretty sure that my 1500 watt controller delivered about 2500 after the shunt mod.
      the modded 1500 watt controller was about as powerful as my current unmodified 3000w controller

      @E-bikeguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow, ok I having a similar problem with my son's 3000w kit, it overheated to so I tell him to be gentle till his new motor arrives, but the 1000w ebike it gets warm but not hot, mainly he is light and doesn't require alot of energy to move bike

    • @Bergwacht
      @Bergwacht ปีที่แล้ว

      @@E-bikeguy Then of course it would be good if you installed a controller in your sons bike, where you can limit the amps. The only permanent solution I can think of is magnetic cooling ferrofluid.
      I also thought "then I'll just drive more carefully"
      But it's so much fun that the heat will be ignored 😁
      Unfortunately, my new display doesn't even show me the temperature anymore, so I have to guess when it's getting too hot, that sucks.
      Even when these motors cooking at 100 degrees Celsius, they only feel slightly warm to the touch.
