You can tell ERIC is LIVING WELL. .
The 80s and 90s were the best years in Hiphop...different sound different styles and songs that made sense and storytelling....these new rappers all sound the same and just rhyme and dont make sense
Thanks Eric. Everything You said was so True. My favorite song from You guys was Keep The Crossover. Cause I Am a real hip hop listener and You right it's not hip hop today. Hip Hop gave us the freedom to speak, teach, have fun and bring money to our community. I really wish it would have stay in the streets. Cause We was doing it like Motown until it hit Hollywood. Now it hurt to listen to the radio stations or to buy music. I Am still listening to Hip Hop from 1992 down to 1979 only.
EPMD is my all time favorite group been a fan since the beginning.
EPMD, DelaSoul, Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim, Busta Rhymes, Keith Murray, Biz Markie, Method Man and MF MUHPHUKIN DOOM?!?? Damn!!!! Shoutout to Strong Island. Didn't know so many came from there and made an impact. E need to do a documentary on that if he didn't yet. This should change the dynamics of the debate of the borough with the best rappers 🤷♂
Thank you for saying that. This music today is not Hip-Hop. They need to give it another name. i Represent the real Hip-Hop 💯
TRUE YORKER FOR REAL. I'M STUPID MOTIVATED FROM INTERVIEWS LIKE THESE, I'M BLESSED EVERY DAMN DAY FOR SEEING AND HEARING CATS LIKE THE "GREEN EYED BANDIT"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lords of the underground would be a dope interview also. Big up (EPMD)🔥🔥
Def Squad Forever
Definitely an interview I been waiting for.
As a student of hip hop. I've seen a lot of changes in only 34, but man. I remember ppl being my age bk in the day & they still liked some of our music. Its no a coincidence that everyone agrees this stuff today, isn't it. The visuals have no theatrical theme, just guns & backwoods. No story telling , same delivery, etc
It’s the E the RICK💯🔥
Eric thank you for what you did in Hip Hop and bringing us Redman. Maaaaad Gems dropped!... Roc marci biggest thing to re-happen to Hip hop from long Island 🔥🔥🔥
it's called Shit hop now 😄
……”Shit-hop?!!”😅😅😅😅
Rap is now Strip Hop
ES dropped a lotta gems in this video, hope y’all youngins as well as everybody in general, is listening. Especially you youngins 💯‼️💪🏾👑🏆🔥

Eric Sermon is gonna bring real Hip-Hop back!
Erick Sermon said a whole mouthful, all facts indeed! Well said Big Homie, Salutes!💯‼️👑🏆💪🏾👍🏾🙌🏾🔥🎤
Hip hop needs to bring back one word in its culture.... HARD.... The word right there kills the effiminization spirit of hiphop..... And enough with the pucci and pior, and the weak brand shit... Hip hop dont even have hiphip designers anymore
Facts and well said!💯‼️💪🏾👑
I’m glad to see Flav doing well! Great interview!😂
GREAT INTERVIEW BRO
Dope interveiw
Props to E D The Green Eyed Bandit.....and he's right. Cassidy spoke on this also....it's about time ya'll give this new sh*t a new name. Ever since Hip Hop turned 50 this summer, I stopped saying "old school rap".......i call it "TRADITIONAL RAP" instead. After 50 years a tradition stamp is well deserved.
#FACTSBEYONDFACTS
Great interview E muhfuhn Dubb👊🏿💯👑

Hip hop name doesn't need to change .what the kids are doing need a name coz what they're doing is not hiphop
Eric sermon wasn't lying about that Biz marke statement. I use to always see him in the Baisley park jam and the last time I seen Biz was on a dirt bike on Jamaica Avenue I was tripping but that was BIZ R. I. P.
I'm locked in to Say Word Podcast, reppin Strong Island. Salute 🎉
Rap Is Outta Control!!
EPMD was one of my favorite groups in the 1990s; I'm a DJ from the Bay area, and I DJ for Mac Mall's birthday in the crest one night rotating Bay Area music Mac Mall album serving game and EPMD...I like Erick Sermons's Passion and wherewithal in the history of Hip Hop!

Welcome is my favorite joint too!!!
Glad somebody is saying something thank you erick sermon
Cassidy said it a long time ago. Don’t call it hip hop, call it something else else, because these new schoolers 2005 and newer ain’t doing what he’s doing.

@@a-love-supremistyou must be young
PREACH ERIC YOU & PARISH ARE THE BEST DUO EVER. ALWAYS LOVE YOU GUYS & RAKIM IS MY # 1 OF ALL TIME. YOU ARE PREACHING REAL FACTS NOW.
Erick Sermon is a Boss
Eric Sermon is one the best to ever produce, versatility and talent like no other.
Facts OG speak the truth!
Rap and hip hop are 2 different things
hip-hop music is rap.
@ejkboxing There's no such thing as hip-hop music, it's rap music.
Great interview, say word!
Brentwood is in the building…I went to high school with his lil Sis Kim @ Ross…beef wit CI….’91
The glorious days are gone
ke lo ke great interview sermon top 5 producer
In the souf we call it country rap tunes!
wassup my man......i love ...i love....i am fan since it s the beginning,da real great gentlemen....... as he says remains true....stay real........big up ........sir green eye bandit.......quickly impatiently we are waiting for a fiery album.....nice podcast.big up ....alex the frenchy.
I have a rememberable story about Eric Sermon & Slick Rick, we skipped school to meet the guys. He gave us the same gems he spitting now. He said he would be around Hiphop long term and that was 33 years ago.
#iSalute
I've felt this way for a while.....that some of this newer stuff really should be called something different
He's correct. This shit people are calling rap/hip-hop music is not rap/hi-hop music. Real rappers aren't even promoted anymore. Ratchet trash & drug infested music is the only thing that gets promoted by record companies. This trash is devolving into saying nothing that means nothing about nothing.
Real talk!!!!!!!!!
Hip Hop and Rap should be classified into 2 genres now
Cuz most of the mainstream is just fast paced Rap party music …it is what it is
There's no feeling in the music anymore
th-cam.com/video/sG-K8MTihPw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_hxatAMs09Lcx5wj
So underrated. Where is Sy Scott. He was ILL
🐐🔥🔥
Erick Sermon had some hella hittas on the team back then 💯‼️💯‼️💯‼️🏆🏆🏆👑👑👑💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🔥🔥🔥🎤🎤🎤
I think a lot of rappers are just chasing the paper. They are under the control of the record companies and are doing what they are told - they don't have anything to say themselves. The passion the soul is gone. btw tell your sister kim i said i wasup, we were shop partners in junior high ( white boy pete - we had mad fun ). also you and your boys owe me some money - you broke my backboard back in the day. Mad respect man, you put brentwood on the map and it inspired me to do something big with my life.
Récord companies is a lame excuse.
People talking sh*t with lame music and getting clout with no help from record companies.
@@NoLefTurnUnStoned. re: record companies. i am just quoting krs1, the best rapper of all time, from his last album that came out last year. he has an entire track trying to educate these young rappers.
same thing happened in sk8 boarding. when i started back in the late 80's it was out of love and what it stood for. today's sk8'ers only look at it as career and a way to make money.
Happy to see you wow keep fighting
He was speaking the truth 👏🏾
Always loved epmd 👍🏿
STRONG ISLAND!
My family is from there!
🔥 interview
Love how Erick makes himself available and wants to tell his story. EPMD is inimitable.
They need to break down hip hop into Genres. Hard, soft, lyrical and rappers.
th-cam.com/video/sG-K8MTihPw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_hxatAMs09Lcx5wj
In respect to what E Double said about wordplay, there was and is people that go harder than the people that he mentioned.
Pun, Canibus, Elzhi, etc.
Ayo, I seen Eric while scrolln then the podcast name, say word ... Imma D.I.T.C. The algorithm be workin sometimes.
💯🦾 he spoke facts
I dont think the name should be changed but i do feel like it should catergorized differently at awards shows..call it Hip Hop/something idk lol..Ppl criticized Nas for saying Hip Hop was dead not fully understanding what he meant..Singing is not Rap for starters..It seems like since Drake "Best I Ever Had" nearly evryone that has come out has melodic flows that all sound similar as well as some of the production..Its not about lyrics anymore its more about your beat and your hook..
HIP HOP DID NOT EVOLVE
Our Brentwood Strong Island Brother stating facts.! Hip Hop culture ain't the same.
Rap and Hip Hop should be classified into 2 different categories
cuz mainstream music isn’t “Hip Hop” doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing but it doesn’t take as much skill
I agree with this statement
@@Shakir-eq8xn 🤝
@@NAMEKDENDE 💯
I have said this for decades!!
You even have country artist with 32nd hithats and inverted bass tones. Is that hiphop too?
Yea please split it up. Soooo tired of it. Miss the 90s
It doesn’t take as much skill??? It takes ABSOLUTELY NO skill to do mainstream mumble rap.
JUST SAY WORD!! I been saying this for the longest 💯
It’s the pride between
13:52 - 14:13 lol!
Shady.. we wanted to hear that😫
Yes he said it . This ain’t hip hop I have been saying this for years.
the audio engineer needs to fix the issue. It's all coming out loud on my left headphone only. Aside from that great interview and next time, see if you can get PMD!
EPMD is my all time favorite group.
And at last a True hip hop pioneer naming rap Gods without putting eminem in the argument.. he don't belong in the conversations, Fact.. 💯 E .. that was a pure breakdown of the Best of the Art..
THANKS!!! if em wasn't a certain shade, he would been considered another rapper 😂 Em stole Masta ace and Big L whole style
@@ILoveTheAllCreator absolutely! Smh.
dope convo
Just separate HipHop from Rap.💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Hip hop ended to me in like 1997 after that beats got wacker.and wacker now drill trap i can't get stand that bullshit
Exactly, I stopped listening to rap in 1998,after that I quit buying it
@@osiawideman4851 It really went downhill after 2001.
I disagree OutKast always delivered!!!
@@mporter123456 Okay, you got me on outkast. The 90s acts were killing it during that time. But as time went on, it did go downhill. The worst of it was 2007 onwards.
@@jamaalbarnes5392 what about Killer Mike new album? His new album gives hope to us all who like Good music! I believe Kanye made good music as well throughout that time span also!!!
#saywordddd 🔥🔥🔥
I wish red man and ludicrous could have teamed up two different eras, but same type delivery and style
Eric is a cool cat
I remember when I heard Red Man and Method man before the Blackout album. I always wanted them to pair up and they did.
I also wanted Big and Pac to pair up together. They did with the audio but there's no original video.
Also wanted Big Pun and Biggie to pair.
That podcast is Merkin out the gate
That's crazy. i wasn't even thinking about that beef until "E" said he glad that bro didn't ask about it...🤪🤪😜😜
Can't agree with Erick Sermon more about the current state of hip-hop.
Have you heard killer Mike album? I beg to differ!!!!
Ain't no bangers like it was years ago, more artists had more style and everybody was there own person
Dope!
The double green 💚💚💚💚
EPMD Legendary!!!
I agree with Erick 100 percent
E Serm that Man... BOOO BOOOO BOOOOOM 💣💥🔥
