The duo's name is a concatenation of the members' names "E" and "PMD" or an acronym for "Erick and Parrish Making Dollars", referencing its members: emcees Erick Sermon ("E" a.k.a. E Double) and Parrish Smith ("PMD" a.k.a. Parrish Mic Doc).

Every single year you could see a change in the music from about 1984 to 1990. It was crazy so many new artists came out the next year the next year and every single year it evolved I saw it. Unbelievable the way it came. EPMD came out they were Unbelievable nobody in hip hop had their style. Greatest thing of our era... every body was different miss them days.
This was the greatest group/duo in the world to me until they split. That was a knife in the chest. Luckily The WU filled the void,boy did they 😎

From Dc which is traditionally known for go go music 🎵 EPMD introduced a Dope new style that was amazing and so impactful it took hip hop to a new level that changed the game up till this day. Much Respect and Gratitude for the contribution made to the industry . Mad love for you guys 💜💜💜💜
