USA School Supplies FAQs: 1. I choose to not use a clipboard to hold my lists. In this video, I will cover the reason why I don’t use one. I’ve been doing this type of video for several years, and there’s a method to my madness. I do it in the way that works best for me. 2. Yes, the schools in the USA really do ask parents to buy things. 3. Yeah, wow, that’s crazy. 4. No, we don’t like it, either, but that’s life. 5. A great deal of the money allocated to “education” in the USA never makes it to the teachers, students, and schools for basic supplies. That is not a subject for this channel. We’re here to relax, not debate stuff. You can do that elsewhere. Anyone doing it here will be banned, and your comment will be deleted. I hate to be so harsh, but this is a real problem every year, and I mean to put a stop to it. 6. No matter what country you live in, you have to pay for dumb things, too. 7. No, parents are not punished if they either can’t or won't bring in these supplies. No consequences await those who don’t contribute. However, the teachers often have to pay for supplies out of their own pocket when no one provides them - and that can cost a teacher hundreds of dollars a year. Hopefully, by donating these things, we can help prevent at least a little bit of that. 8. No, nobody cares to hear how awesome your country is right now. This is not a contest. No matter where you live in the world, everyone is struggling. Maybe you can take that all-caps energy and help someone in your area. A little kindness would go a long way. 9. The Ziploc bags are used for a variety of things in the classroom. It may seem like a strange request, but they come in handy to store little bits of stuff, fragile projects, and dirty clothes, among other things. 10. The headphones are used for classroom stuff/laptop use. It helps prevent the spread of lice, germs, etc. for each child to have their own set of headphones. Yeah, the school should provide them. No, they often don’t. 11. I will continue to do these back-to-school shopping trips to help out my community every year, as long as I am financially able to do so. In a perfect world, it wouldn’t be necessary to buy any of these things, but we don’t live in a perfect world. I want to help as many people as I can, for as long as I can. 12. I didn't overlook that list item to traumatize you. It was human error with no malicious intent. Juggling three lists alone while holding a phone, in a store, carrying on a running one-way commentary, pulling a shopping cart one-handed, navigating aisles and displays, while looking for three separate lists of items can be...Challenging. I know. I, too, am shocked. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s relax and enjoy some shopping. 😊

This is really satisfying to watch. Since graduating college I don't school shop anymore but it was so fun! Donating supplies is a good idea! If I could afford it, I'd do it. I got those plastic prong folders and they're 7 years old now and still doing great! I don't use them but I kept them in case I found a use one day As a costco employee, I'd do a costco version with the purpose of donation to a school.
I did back to school shopping for my 2 kids and that was chaos lol each kid going different directions and I agree with looking at more than one list everything starts to blend together. Your a good person for donations for the school.

I love these lists, I can't afford to do what Mary does but it lets me know what I can donate even if I can't do everything on one of those lists. I also have a lot of craft supplies that my teacher friends take for their classes.

For the occasional pencil use, I still have the old wooden kind. I use cap erasers, because the erasers on them dry out over time. I so seldom write anything these days that a pencil lasts me years.

before u even gave the reason about everything on the lists starting to look the same after a while i was already saying the same thing, even when i do my grocery lists and it's handwritten i overlook things and same when typing up essays/documents for work or college or whatever, when u stare at it for too long it blends into one and just gets hard to read

The school supply lists in Charlotte are crazy. There are 20 things on the list, among other things, we have to get 16 glue sticks and four boxes of crayons for our Kindergartener! 😳😳
As someone who has worked with kinder, you'd be surprised at how quickly they go through it. The teacher may still have to use their own money to replenish things the 2nd half of the year. Kinder usually needs the primary colors for a lot of their work. They lose them, break, & yes even chew up their supplies. 😅
U have inspired this empty nester to school shop and donate. Maybe try a marker to cross off with non dominant hand? I won’t be filming. I’m gonna buy all the blue folders. Jk. Thanks as always.
