Windows have been around for a very long time. Although glass was used in beads and vessels in the Late Bronze Age in Egypt, it was not used for windows until the Roman Empire. These windows looked nothing like the flat, transparent windows we know today. The earliest kinds of windows were panes of shiny and glassy pebbles fitted into wooden frames. Very little light passed through these windows. During the Dark Ages, most glass windows in buildings were replaced by wooden panels to keep out the cold. As more people learned how to make thin, smooth panes of glass, windows became more common and affordable.
In US history, the earliest American windows were wood casement windows, hinged at the sides. By the early 1800s, sliding single- and double-hung windows had come into popular use. However, devastating fires in a number of cities during the late 19th century led to strict fire codes, which decreased the prevalence of wood windows. At the same time, the Industrial Revolution brought about major advances in rolled steel, permitting the mass production of steel windows. These fire-resistant frames and sashes became the standard for factories and commercial buildings, as well as for larger residential and university buildings. Steel remained the primary material for industrial, commercial, and institutional windows in the United States well into the 20th century

Nuclear codes (in USA) are used to authenticate that it's the president who is giving the launch order to the people at whatever launches the strike. I don't remember if we have an idea how many digits they have, but I think it's relatively few, I'd expect 6 or 8 really. The actual launch is different in silos, bombers and submarines, and of course not everything is declassified. I guess the concept of two officers, after confirming the orders and their authenticity, prob insert some kind of keys (most likely still just physical keys as the whole tech is pretty old by today's standard) to unlock the system and let the computers do the job. Assuming that someone is crazy enough to actually follow those orders.

Tipping became the norm of society during prohibition, where waiters would take bribes to give them alcohol. Scummy workplace managers found this and would replace the waiter's pay with the bribes instead.

In Jan 2014, when I was 18, my appendix exploded. It felt like hard poop cramps... We went to the hospital after nothing was coming out. While in the er waiting bed I started feeling better and literally 1 minute later the doctor said I'm going into surgery asap.
They tried a simple 3 point incision but they couldn't find the the appendix. So the cut me from my groin to bellybutton, i now look like the Dilbert character. Anyway apartently they found it near my spine. The "empty spcae" in my body was full of waste and had to get a drain bulb installed. Took me 2 weeks to recover because i got sick during this affair.
My dad also had appendicitis when he was my age too...

1800 to 1900 hundreds(don't know for sure anymore, I asked a teacher about that as a kid) or so they made a tax bound to the amount of windows your house had. So people just filled them up with bricks or concrete.
There are some few hundred year old houses that stand with still some of those windows sealed up like that.

Yes that is it, lack of iron, and on a bad day just getting up from sitting will do it.
Take it from someone who has been anemic(low blood iron levels) all my life and had the doctor's say after 6 years of monthly bloodtests "thats just how you are"
And jeez it can be trippy when you get up, especially when you try and get out of bed and you life your head up and instantly fall asleep again like 6 times over so it feels like you're stuck in a loop.

Seeing as two others have talked about their appendix and appendicitis I'll talk about mine as if you get it you will know as you'll have the feeling of needing to shit but no matter how hard you push and try there is nothing to come out and it just gets worse and worse hell it had me crying curled up on the floor and I was damn lucky I went to the hospital right away as it turns out my appendix was about to explode had I waited any longer but luckily they got it out before it could with a three hole thing like one of the other two comments mentioned. Also God I wish the best for anyone who also has to go through having their appendix removed as not only is there the pain from the appendix of you get appendicitis but the two week recovery after surgery is the most painful thing I've ever experienced as you use your stomach for so much and pretty much all movement and you'll have to have help standing up, sitting down and with pretty much all movement but it's worth the pain as it's better then letting your appendix explode and dying from it.

The place I work. There is a very indignant waitress. She will sit in the back on her phone until I come to the back and tell her there's an order in her section. She'll typically take a few more minutes and a few more times telling her when she finally gets up. Gives them their drinks and takes their order. Before I'm done cooking it she will often times go back to the back and play on her phone. Then I will either give the customer the food myself or she will give them their food and immediately go to the back again. And I would get them their condiments and drink refills. And I have to go fetch her again to cash them out. And she will often times get mad at me for making her take care of a customer that didn't tip her. She often times has the lowest tips of any other wait staff that shift. And she is the first one to start yelling at the cooks when things aren't %100 going her way. I often times get more tips then her. I would even share my tips with her but her attitude tends to stay the same regardless.
